*International Gamers With Jobs Days 2021 Online Game Sign-Ups*

Wow, it's already October, and just in time for International Gamers With Jobs Day! Thank you to everyone who took the survey to help determine the dates. We tallied up the results, and October 23-24th was the winner!

Data breakdown spoilered below:

Much like last year, we ask that IGWJD celebrations be held primarily online to avoid anything that could put you or your family at risk. To help encourage and assist in the coordination and planning for online gaming, we've created the GWJ Gaming Sign-Ups Spreadsheet. This will allow all of us to gauge interest and plan for specific games and groups. Once a group has coalesced, those folks can hash out the finer details, such as dates and times, in the comments below or over at the #igwjd Discord channel.

Please, feel free to add entries onto the spreadsheet for something you'd like to play. When you add a new game to the sheet, mention it in the comments here or the Discord channels so others can go take a look. There are separate tabs for Video Games, Online Board Games, Online TTRPGs, and Other Meetings/Get-Togethers. Be sure to check all of the tabs that interest you!

If you're putting a game call out to the community at large, try coordinating games that are fun, easy to learn, popular with lots of folks or is available for free. (Jackbox, Among Us, Codenames, Team Fortress 2, Etc). If you have a more specific game with a buddy or two who are likely to help you start the party, then share it to see if other folks are available that day that want to play it!

To participate in community gaming, you may need some of the following:

  • A headset & mic (and the ability to mute yourself in some way)
  • Access to any of the games you'd like to get involved in
  • A Discord account
  • A Zoom account (if you intend to host a Zoom meeting)
  • A webcam (if you would like to participate in any Zoom/Discord dance parties or toasts)
  • A Twitch account and streaming setup (if you'd like to have your games hosted on the GWJ Twitch channel in between scheduled streams)

Throughout the weekend, we'll also host live streams over on our GamersWithJobs Twitch Channel, including appearances from podcasters and other GWJ content creators, as well as the regular rotation of channels to host and highlight. We'll post streaming schedules a little closer to the dates. If you'd like to stream on the GWJ Twitch account, please reach out to Amoebic via PM, or email call (at) gamerswithjobs.com to coordinate the schedule. You will need to have your own Twitch account and abide by our Code of Conduct while streaming as GWJ.

Some folks are concerned about streaming and attending streams due to hate raids. Gamers With Jobs has actively kept up to date with blocklists and have employed Serybot to avoid brigades. All streamers will be informed to switch chat to subscribers-only or emote-only to avoid a negative experience should that possibly occur. That being said, we'll be looking to speak to anyone interested in moderating for the twitch channel during scheduled streams to keep an eye on things! More importantly, Moderators are lovely company for the streamer

A common question asked is "Can we play on Friday instead?" Absolutely you can. We love a pre-game gamer. If there's a date/time that ends up working better for your group, great! What's important is playing games with your Gamers With Jobs people. Make sure to note it in the sheet or message Amoebic so they can spread awareness.

Thanks so much for your love, enthusiasm, and support of GWJ. It means the world to us that you would consider us as part of your home. We look forward to gaming with you for IGWJD 2021! As things get scheduled, we can update the main OP.

While I bow to the will of the GWJers, sadly I cannot participate as I will be at a retro gaming event that weekend. Have fun all!

Post pics!

How many people would be interested in dying... mean playing... Tomb of Horrors?

Sadly, I will have to sit this one out. It's the start of autumn vacation for us here, and and we already have plans. Have fun, everyone!!!

OMG HI
I was just thinking of you yesterday, and here you are! So glad to see you!

Aw shucks. I hope you have a good autumn vacation and enjoy your plans. I'm sad... but not too sad; we still have EXTRA LIFE!

I'd love to sign up, but my schedule is completely unpredictable.

I'll be adding some suggestions for boardgames and co-op computer games in the spreadsheet soon.

Board Game Arena is a good place for easy access to multiplayer board games, so most of my suggestions for those will be on that platform (there's a free account option for those not already on there).
Gamers With Jobs also has a group on BGA that you can join here: https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=...

I'm looking forward to it!

Anyone interested in playing some Rocket League during this?

When were you thinking of starting?

I'm in!

I've added a few games to the spreadsheet to see if there's any interest:

Computer Games
* Splitgate
* Wreckfest
* Golf with your Friends

Board Games
* The Castles of Burgundy (BGA)
* Lost Ruins of Arnak (BGA)
* Root (digital version)
* Terraforming Mars (digital version)

Added Spelunky 2 to the list. It'd be great to get together a group of veteran players to sink their teeth into co-op.

I think 'Honey Heist' https://www.teenservicesunderground.... is a good choice.

We should totally do some Team Fortress.

I haven’t played it in over a decade but I’d give it a try again

A big fan of both; I added my name.

Sad that Blaseball is still on siesta, so we won't be able to call a game, but maybe when it comes back in November.

I would love to join a rocket league stream. Maybe a mini-tournament, or weird modes like Bottle Rockets? Heavy cube!

In theory I can host and stream Jackbox from my Xbox on Twitch, but the delay makes some games less fun, like the little mini-games in Murder Trivia Party. Others work fine as long as people know the real time is a little short.

I find the best way to play is to not have people participate from twitch - have them join a discord channel to play, and stream the play to twitch. Not ideal but a whole lot less frustrating as a player.

Unfortunately I don't have Discord on my Xbox, and my PC is garbage. But I could play my favorite Puzzle Quest clone for an hour!

We are looking to feature folks from the community on our Twitch channel October 23-24!
International Gamers With Jobs Day Twitch Stream Signup Calendar
There are 120 min and 60 min slots. If you need longer than 2 hours, please discuss with me. You'll be provided a stream key, overlays if desired, and streaming protocol guidelines as well as any assistance with troubleshooting. Please reach out to me if you are interested!

I can’t commit right now because my schedule is a hot fire but closer to the date I may be able to host a Jackbox session and stream to Discord/Twitch

One of these nights I'll do a test stream from my new phone see if it is hot garbage or not.

I did pick up the new Jackbox 8, so looking to host a jackbox session next weekend

Coke optional!

Will Be looking to post a twitch schedule tonight! I haven't forgotten in these whirlwind times.

ADDED JACKBOX PARTY PACK 8 TO THE GAME LIST FOR SATURDAY NIGHT!
All you need is a web/mobile device and access to the discord. I'll be streaming the game to the discord, so folks can participate as players or observe as an audience...and depending on the game, participate as audience as well!

8pm CST Saturday!

I've updated the spreadsheet with available/suggested times for the above - open to alternative suggestions if necessary.

Let's GOOO!

Golf with your Friends starting in just over an hour! (It's included with Game Pass)

Sat 3pm EST / 7pm UTC

Also added a second installment tomorrow:
Sun 1pm EST / 5pm UTC

It was a distinct honour to stream as part of the community yesterday. I cannot say this enough (and I don't think I ever will), but thank you to the Conference Call/Website teams for allowing me to do my thing; and show off.
