NFL 2021: The Week 4 thread

I don't think Urban's cut out for this NFL stuff. He takes an L entirely too hard.

Better readjust the difficulty level back down to Prince.

Looking at the scoreboard I'm gonna guess the Jags are generally worse in the second half because the Pope thinks he doesn't need to adjust his genius gameplan. Or at least, not in this game.

Halftime adjustments are one of the unsung make or break parts of coaching in the NFL. Is the Pope doing that? Or is he continuing to try and push a square peg through a round hole?

I'm not yet convinced Urban actually does anything at all besides yell at his coaches at the team facilities.

You can watch all nine sacks here if you're the kind of person who kicks puppies and old ladies and laughed at that earlier video of that old man falling down.

Better viewing option: JT O’Sullivan breaks down all 9 sacks on The QB School:

Finally got around to this and Kole Cmet is earning his paycheck. It's a shame the RTs is so bad because all of Cmet's good work is wasted. (Also, putting Cmet up against Myles Garrett 1-on-1? Wow.)

Play after play it's Fields holding onto the ball too long. This is why Dalton, or Foles, should be starting. The kid needs time to acclimate to the NFL, understand the playbook and what the team can do before throwing him to the wolves. Right now this is 100% a Jared Goff situation that will benefit from the offensive being canned entirely.

If Fields is ever going to succeed he almost certainly should've gone to someone like Shanny Jr.

Well maybe the Bears will hire someone like that in January. Nagy won't be around much longer if things continue like this. He didn't make it out of September without questions of whether or not he should be giving up the playcalling duties.

Fields is holding the ball too long, but so do a lot of rookie QBs. Deshaun Watson - who I still consider the most direct Fields comparable - had a time-to-throw of 3.1 seconds as a rookie. Fields has no idea what 3.1 seconds in an NFL pocket looks like - his TTT was 2.63 seconds this past week, because anything longer than that was a sack.

You can really see why Jason Peters only signed for $1.75m. It sucks that Teven Jenkins has a bad back.

Yep. The key phrase in JTO'S's video was "open on Sunday." The difference between what's considered open in college vs the pros never ceases to amaze me.

They have to give Lamar tools.

That drop rate stat shows that he's already got a bunch of tools.

The only thing that might be better than this show is going to be watching white people's heads exploding over it.

Nah. Everybody loves this lineup. Bomani put it best, about why the Oakley wrap arounds and F150 set likes g-funk.

Urban Meyer's trending and not because he's leaving the Jags. A departure may result from it, however.

YOU HATE TO SEE IT

(You do not hate to see it, actually.)

It's been taken down since I posted, so you actually can't see it now. Also, what kind of power does Urban Meyer and the Jags have to get Reddit to delete a video from social media?

Gardner Minshew is in Philly now, so, uh, there are ladies without Jaguars available?

Not sure that applies. Gardner goes for the MILFs, while Urban apparently goes for the ones that are Gardner's age.

Sam Darnold starting the 4th quarter against Dallas, down 36-14...

15/26
176
0 TD
2 INT
5 sacks-35
46.5 rtg

He's back!

Browns kick field goal to go from 11 points to 14 points, ruining any Scorigami potential their game had.

Speaking of Carolina acquisitions, C.J. Henderson got smoked on that Amari Cooper TD, and apparently hasn’t seen the field much since.

The Goffumble?

Punter kicking FGs for San Fran. This should be interesting.

Jets win. Giants win. Pandemonium in New York Jersey!

Lions and Jaguars keeping pace for that #1 draft pick . . .

Ok maybe he can be "Hollywood" Brown again. What a catch

Garapolo is out with a calf injury. WELCOME TO THE TREY AREA!

The future is now!

Teddy being evaluated for concussion. Dammit.

Guess I can cheer fully for the Ravens today then

Drew Lock 0-0, 1 sack. Lol

Woooooooooooooow

Trey to Deebo for the TD.

Yeah, no kidding. HEY DARNOLD had one really good throw and a bunch of baffling throws today. The two INTs were inexcusable. Without CMC and with a bad O-line, Darnold's limitations were all on display today.

Weirdly, Darnold leads the NFL in rushing TDs (or he did at halftime). Joe Brady is dialing up some pretty creative red zone QB runs.

I was really surprised Henderson played. Not only has he been a Panther for less than a week, I'm not sure he's in football shape. He missed last week and most of week 2.

The Panthers' secondary is a mess. Carolina has four DBs on IR right now. AJ Bouye was active for the first time this season, but I don't know how much he played today. It's basically a second string backfield, and it showed against Dak.

Oh, and Carolina's run D is still broken. It was a mess last season, and the Panthers did a good job of hiding it for three weeks because (a) Jets/Jameis/Texans and (b) Carolina led wire to wire for three weeks. Today? The Cowboys ran for 245 yards. Ooof.
