Canada playing a final round World Cup qualifier for the first time since I started following the Men's National Team in 2007 (Atiba was onside).
Worrying about how we're going to get CONCACAF'D tonight.
Welcome to the club! Are you aware that, while fully acknowledging our own failings four years ago, a "ghost goal" kept the US out of the last World Cup?
CONCACAF still isn't using VAR for World Cup qualifiers this year.
Hungary.
Welp.
What I've learned recently is that Hungary is the Mexico of Europe.

BREAKING: Brazil vs Argentina has been suspended as the Brazilian Health Authorities have stormed onto the pitch to deport Emiliano Martinez, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero.
Background here.
The three players were supposed to be in quarantine after arriving from the UK but Argentina picked them anyway.
CONMEBOL reported to have said Brazil would be docked points if they didn't let them play.
Beat me to it.
Absolutely amazing. Soccer crazy >>>>>>>>> Any other sport's craziness
Brazil’s federal police waited until six minutes into an international match to check Wikipedia to see where these guys play and i stand and applaud that level of procrastination and/or incompetence
God bless this dumb f*cking sport.
EDIT: "Brazil v Argentina stopped inside 7 mins by Brazilian Federal Police walking on field to detain 4 Argentinian Premier League players who failed to disclose they are based in Britain, breaking COVID protocols upon entering Brazil."
FAILED TO DISCLOSE?!?!?! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
WHO COULD'VE KNOWN?!?!?!
EDIT: Straight to the Louvre, please.
And if you thought this was bad, Morocco got stuck in Guinea when there was an attempted coup.
Man, Lo Celso and Romero (both Spurs) are gonna have to quarantine when they come back, as well. They're missing EPL fixtures so they can get detained by the Brazilian authorities and NOT play for Argentina. Wonderful.

The Aristocrats!
It's like the universe doesn't want this World Cup to happen.
Lukaku got his 100th cap yesterday, scoring his 67th goal. He scored 50 in his last 50 international games. To put that into a Belgian perspective: the previous record holder, Paul Van Himst scored 30 goals in 81 games, the last of which 50 years ago.
I don't see how anyone will ever top this record, but still I see fellow Belgians shrug and say "they just don't like him" because he doesn't have De Bruyne's passing or Hazard's dribbling skills. And definitely not because he's a black man demanding respect and proudly claiming he wants to be the world's best striker, that would be ridiculous
We won't fully realize how unique he is until after his generation's career, when we have a "normal" generation again.

Yes, he has those useless "putting the ball in the f**king net" skills.
And hell, even THAT'S not true. Remember the winner against Japan that he basically assisted without actually touching the ball?

Slightly as an aside to this, it was quite heartening to see the respect and appreciation shown to Bukayo Sako during the routine England victory over Andorra yesterday evening. He got the loudest cheers of the night and you would have thought he’d actually scored a winning goal in a final when he did score. The players were also roundly applauded when they took the knee before the game too.
The crowd last night was noticeably different - lots of young families and kids - but it was nice to see a little reminder that despite everything, people with those views are a minority. An incredibly vocal group for sure, and there’s still a hell of a lot of work to be done but last night was really quite refreshing after the very depressing scenes in Hungary.
Meanwhile, the USMNT thus far vs. Honduras:
If we fail to qualify again we need to go Brian Kelly on US Soccer.
Execute everyone. Not the team, the organization, from the top down to Berhalter.
Ay, Pepi!

Following up on this, good on ya Robert.
It was a good game last night between England & Poland, well fought & contested (even if it did spill over a little) and although I would say England were the better team, Poland were worth the draw.
In other news the Brazilian FA have invoked the FIFA clause which prevent players not released for international duty for a 5 day period. That impacts Allison, Fabhino & Firmino for Liverpool, Ederson & Jesus for Man City and Raphinha for Leeds. Mexico, Paraguay and Chile have all also invoked the clause.
However there is still quite a lot of debate between the various football authorities & the UK government. I suspect that it might all still go head….
I was selfishly hoping for a draw in the Honduras-USA match but that's a pretty nice comeback for the USA away from home.
The CONCACAF Octagon seems to be pretty competitive.
In CONCACAF, anything can happen.
That second one was just wrong. Has this man no shame?
Are there no consequences for a double homicide these days?
Ronaldo starts.
Puts that debate to bed as if there was any doubt.
TBD on the penalties which... I think we know where that is going.
6 games at the half and the only goal is Ronaldo.

I mean, he took Cavani's number already.
I guess the Spurs hype comes down a few notches with their 3-0 loss to Palace today?
CR7 added something extra that ManU attack had been missing most games. Now can they stay interested for a whole calendar of games. This could actually be a year where the title race lives up to the early season hype.
