2021/22 Soccer Thread: It's Euro 2020 until it becomes 2021

Also, does Bruno Fernandes give up penalties?

My fantasy team needs to know.

I think the best part for non United/City fans is that I'm not sure if this transfer makes sense?

Ronaldo at City would of been terrifying as I'm sure Pep would of made it work.
Ronaldo at United? Not sure if it really makes sense besides a great coming home story.

Confirmed Ronaldo to United. Now does Cavani give up #7?

Unless Cavani exits the club, the rules don't seem to allow it (for this season).

You'd think Fernandes isn't just going to be giving up Penalty duties, but probably quite a bit of playing time too.

Ya think? Every thing I've seen says the most likely outcome is Fernandes retaining the No. 10 position, with Ronaldo as your striker. I don't see them dropping Fernandes.

Now, Cavani and Mason Greenwood are probably pretty crestfallen.

Also, RE: the CL draw - Lazio/Lokomotiv/Marseille/Galatasaray may be the first group to be considered on an international threat watch list.

Also... City still need a striker.

I will absolutely die laughing if they get Aguero.

Xhaka showing the leadership Arsenal gave him that contract extension for.

One more goal for City and Arsenal go bottom of the table.

And there it is!

Add Xhaka to the list of players that only (want to) play well in the national team.

I don't think Cavani will be disappointed with CR coming to the team. Ollie will probably switch them up between games due to their age.

I do think it's fair to question whether or not Ronaldo actually is making anyone better now.

I believe 3 games is more than enough to decide the winner of this season's PL. Let's close it up, boys! 'Tis been a good year.

I second the motion.

Tottenham top!
Arsenal bottom!
Arsenal with zero league goals!
Tottenham yet to concede!

Just 35 more one - nil victories for us to sweat through.

One nil! To the..... Tottenham?

Just looks weird.

If you can see this image, you're in the wrong timeline.

Messi also seems to think it's weird.

Mbappe is no longer my best friend, now Camavinga is my best friend.

At least Messi got rid of the beard. It Made him look old

Newcastle 17th even though they might be the worst team in the league?

I'll take it.

Yes, I will die angry that Fulham were somehow worse than them last season.

See, the problem was that, when Renato Sanches was in England, he wasn't playing for a Portuguese club.

Deadline day, and Odsonne Edouard to Palace is an absolute coup in FM, but this is real life, so we'll see how that goes.

Arsenal in for a RB (Takehiro Tomiyasu) with Bellerin supposedly off to Betis?

Bellerin is still only 26.... How he's fallen off as regular Barca target to Arsenal seemingly happy to punt him off to anywhere. I guess too much time working on his fashion career.

Not sure if I'm understanding the Arsenal moves at all. Spent a huge chunk of cash for an interesting mix of players. The obvious plan is to push for a European spot to recoup the cost but between injuries and starting the season with Covid they probably at best repeat at 8th. I don't think the media will change the 'top 6' to 'top 11' to accommodate Arsenal.

Not sure if I understand the Camavinga move if it actually comes in at around 30m of any currency. At that price every EPL club that can should be coming in with a bid closer to 50m+.

He was absolutely superb... in 2018/19. We rejected a bid in excess of £20M, holding out for £30M. Since the pandemic, the only thing he's accomplished is to lower his transfer value in every game he had played. Increasingly frustrating to watch, in the majority of games.

He's determined not to shoot from outside the six yard box, instead wanting to try and use his admittedly quick feet to take on all 10 defenders we face up here, and it just hasn't worked for the past 18 months. I dont see him getting much chance against even better defenders in the EPL, but who knows.

In a way, I'll be sad to see him go, but at least now we can focus on players that do want to be here, and actually play an in-form striker, rather than just playing Eddy because he's the Big Man in the side. It's a shame that it's only £15M, and even more of a shame that we'll only get about £12M of that - we owe PSG 40% of any Profit above the £9M we paid for him. That was supposed to be a sale of around £30M, but he's totally hosed that over the last season and a bit with some frustrating, lazy-looking performances.

Quote is not edit.

Did anyone mention it yet but how confused must Sergio Aguero be?

If City were actually in for a striker maybe they should of just taken him back off Barcas hands.

That Ronaldo guy with two headers.

Very looking forward to him back in the EPL yelling at everyone on United to cross him the ball.

Also Xhaka tests positive for Covid. I think peak hope for me with Arsenal this year was him playing well for Switzerland and he was going to Roma. Now we're here and it's dreadful.

I heard he was trying to get out of his deal. He went to Barca for Messi.

Well, he's got it.

Hungary.

Welp.

In the end a routine victory for England against Hungary in Budapest tonight, however - yet again - it was a game marred by the Hungarian Ultras throwing missiles at the England players and, once they were losing, monkey chants as well.

Hungary were only allowed fans in the game on the technicality that as this is World Cup qualifier, it falls under FIFA jurisdiction and not UEFA where they are already banned, but it was entirely predictable and depressingly 'normal' for their fans. They boo'd throughout the England players taking the knee at the start of the game too.

I know we've got out own problems with racism in the UK and there is no excuse of that, but the lip service some other nations pay is just depressing at this point, especially with the tolerance FIFA and UEFA consistently display towards it.

Meh. I'm on a downer. Sorry everyone.

Canada playing a final round World Cup qualifier for the first time since I started following the Men's National Team in 2007 (Atiba was onside).

Worrying about how we're going to get CONCACAF'D tonight.
