NFL 2021: Draft

Jets are totally going to use Elijah Moore as their Deebo.

Damn, the running back picks. Two late in the 1st and now Denver trades up to take the 3rd guy.

I'm holding out hope that someone other than Moehrig is the first safety off the board.

Bam. Done. Jevon Holland, one of the guys I have above Moehrig.

Bears trade up to take Jenkins. Made the pick for Fields that Jacksonville should have for Lawrence.

Another safety I had ahead of Moehrig goes before him! Damn I'm good.

Niners trade out of #43.

A little disappointed they didn't take Ojulari, but they just moved down a few spots and picked up a 4th, replacing more of that lost draft capital. Maybe Ojulari makes it down to their new spot...

Raiders traded up for Moehrig! Given how they draft, I say that further validates my lower evaluation.

Walker Little seems like a really good pick for the Jags. Raw talent who could be moulded.

He can learn from Cam Robinson!

Jags take Walker Little.

Finally a tackle.

PFF loves Little. I didn't grade him because 2019 injury and 2020 opt-out meant his tape was back in 2018, and I didn't go that far back.

If PFF's evaluation is right though, then Baalke finally did something good.

God I am so ready for Robinson to be replaced. He needs to follow the Greg Robinson career path and kick inside already.

I'm now a huge Walker Little fan no matter what. Guess I need to go watch his 2018 games.

Rondale Moore to the Niners? I can dream, right?

I would LOVE that. That would just be insane. Especially since the Niners have their every-down receiving targets locked down already. Would be free to deploy Moore as a weapon.

They need cornerback more than any other position, but I like guys at other positions better here.

Aaron Banks? Meh. Thought he was a round 3 guy.

Arizona snatches up Rondale Moore on the very next pick. Yeah great, let him go to an NFC West team.

And the very NEXT pick is Ojulari. Man.

Rondale Moore will either be one of the most exciting players in the NFL or he's going to somehow die from a leg injury. Equal chance.

Browns take JOK.

Competent Browns strike again.

I just remembered how last year's draft broadcast was a combined ESPN/NFLN production and I had to watch all the crappy ESPN guys that I always tuned into NFLN to avoid.

SO glad that they went back to separate productions. I was worried they might stick with the combo idea even after COVID.

Especially surprised at 3 off-ball LBs going in round 1 and JOK not being one of the three.

I think tweeners always get undervalued, and JOK is a hybrid safety. Definitely would like as many as we can get for the Steelers, after watching Mike Hilton's blitzing, Cam Sutton's versatility, and the speed of Devin Bush work out for us lately though. One of our biggest recent strengths is adapting to whatever formation is thrown at us without needing to sub, though we lost a lot of that as 2020 went on losing Bush for the season, having no 3rd OLB after losing Dupree, and our CBs being questionable in coverage after Haden/Nelson/Sutton/Hilton.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Jets moved up to 14(!) for a Guard.

I can't get the thought out of my head that it's part of a terrible plan to try to nickle and dime AVT out of a couple of million on the 5th year option somehow.

As far as Najee Harris, well, if the Steelers took him at this spot in the 2020 draft I think we'd all have a right to be angry as that'd be a bad pick. But the 2021 draft isn't quite the 2020 for 1st round talent so it can be understood, if not forgiven.

It's just that I know we don't have enough picks to fill everything if we spend on a premium RB. As of yesterday we were starting:
* Probably BJ Finney at Center (Our former swing veteran, back on the minimum), but maybe JC Hassenauer (2019 UDFA who did better well enough as a spot starter last year to feel good having him as depth)
* James Pierre as 3rd CB (2020 UDFA)
* Chuks Okorafor as LT, who lost a camp battle for starting RT in 2020
* Bennie Snell as RB. Former 4th round pick. Was... fine. McFarland had worse vision but was a rookie.
* A WR. You just have to pencil one in, because no matter how deep the room is, the Steelers grab one anyway.

Of the 4, RB seemed least important to improve. I don't know who's out there in free agency who can come in on a minimum contract and do an okay job for any of these except RB, and day 3 picks/UDFAs are such lottery tickets. At least the RB room isn't empty after Snell. Jerick McKinnon was available today.

I'm sure it was covered yesterday, but it would be amazing if tebow time happened in 2021 because COVID-19 bronco-ed the QB room for a week.

And of course it's TE Pat Freiermuth to the Steelers instead, who I am super excited about as a prospect and need, except it's been 2 rounds and I really don't want Najee Harris and Pat Freiermuth as the two pass blocking improvements from the draft.

PS - It's unfair to dub *anyone* Baby Gronk. Can we call him baby HEEEEEATH now?

Panthers have made more trades tonight (2) than picks (zip).

At this rate they'll have the entire third round to themselves.

Russell Wilson: "Offensive line please!"

Front office: "Have a sprinter WR with Ted Ginn hands"

Tehehehe.

The Seahawks taking a WR cause why bother trying to keep Russ alive.

For all the shade the Packers get at least we are not trying to have Rodgers murdered.

Rams: "We want a Ted Ginn too!"

Tutu Atwell is 5'9" and weighs 155 pounds?

This can't end well.

FROM LOUISVILLE.

He's so fast he won't get hit.

Wait, since when did Macho Man come back from the dead?

At least you got one thing right.

Dammit, the Browns got JOK? If we couldn't get him, I didn't want him in the AFCN.

If Rodgers and Russ could trade their teams' draft picks, they could both be happy.
