Elden Ring Catch-all

I’ve been going around collecting things I missed, trying to settle on a build for NG+.

There are so so so many other games I should be playing instead but Elden Ring is just so pristine.

I am following a walkthrough, but I like that if I have 30 minutes, I can just wander around, kill mobs and collect materials for crafting.

Switched from zweihander to a greatsword for my strength build, and now just have to continue upping my endurance so I can get armor sets with more poise on them.

Continuing my slow but steady walk-through of the base game.

Just defeated Renalla. I was having a lot of difficulty, and that I could get a couple of hits in on her second phase, and then she would just smack me down.

Then I switched from my +13 greatsword to my +5 mace, and the use of stamina for attacks was low enough, that I could just keep on giving her little boops and interrupting her enough that she never got any spells off.

Finally got to the end boss in Erdtree. Finished the first part only using a a couple health potions then got demolished on the first attack second stage. It was looking good until it wasn't!

Just finished up the DLC. I can see why the last boss was so controversial. Most of the time with a FromSoft boss, you have the feeling that with better reflexes and memorising the move set you can always in theory beat him. But this guy's attacks are totally unavoidable, and its less a matter of getting gud and more about finding the right build that can tank out all the damage you're taking.

I eventually bet him by doing my first and only respec of the whole game to change to a bleed build, which worked first try.

Just did the same thing. Ending cinematic was kinda meh. But this bleed build with a pokey thing and a great shield is pretty cool.

Almost done Caelid, starting up Millicent's quest line.

I am currently rocking a strength build with my greatsword, but have come across a couple of bosses that are immune to poise-breaks and can knock me out of my attacks. Guess I need to level up some so I can up my strength so I can get the good armor to up my poise so I can attack through their attacks.

Yeah, I just beat him with a sorcerer build - albeit one cowering behind a greatshield. I did not feel like I got appreciably better at the fight, I just got a bit luckier with which attacks Tiche ate so I could juggle the aggression between us for the entire fight.

The insane aggression, long combos and accompanying area attacks make it a fight you basically endure, and is a bummer of a finish to an otherwise pretty great expansion.

Patch 1.14: https://en.bandainamcoent.eu/elden-r...

The following adjustments have been made to the final boss of “SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE”
Changed the action pattern when the battle starts.
Adjusted some attack moves.
Decreased the damage of some attacks.
Decreased stamina damage of some attacks.
Decreased the attack range of some non-weapon-based attacks.
Improved the visibility of some attack effects.

Most other changes are weapon, item, and ability adjustments.

Apparently that pesky final boss of the DLC got nerfed, from what I've read online. Seen some posts of peeps making shirts about beating the boss before the patch.

Time for more runs at the boss (I got distracted but was also not particularly enjoying the fight.) Making the big oaf a bit easier is very welcome.

My spouse is 1 part happy, 1 part bummed. They've been chipping away at them and struggling so happy for the changes. But bummed because I beat them before the patch so they kinda still want to. However, there's a big difference in build. They're an INT magic user but I was all in on STR/FAI so I was hiding behind a greatshield with a colossal weapon while my mimic kept breathing rot and frost on them. The boss and I literally died at the same time as they hit me but the rot ticked them down to 0.

I played through as a faith caster, and coming directly off playing the main game, the DLC, and especially the final boss, all feel designed to punish ranged builds. They are hyper aggressive, have consistent gap closers, and will switch aggro at the drop of a hat. Even Shabriri's Woe Mimic Tear barely seemed to do anything.
