Elden Ring Catch-all

Seamless coop?

Still hesitant to pre-order or just wait for a discount. I beaten all the souls games but never any of their dlcs. Not to mention the price tag on this one.

Hoping for I early reviews to push me one way or the other.

Its an easy to use mod that enables up to four people to play together. Be aware that, when I tried it, it uses an alternate save file so you cant bring your solo play character into the coop. A quick google search will let you find it.

It actually allows up to 6! We tried briefly with 5 people, but that proved to be less enjoyable than expected because we had 3 veterans with 2 new players, which mostly resulted in the 2 new people dead watching the 3 veterans trying to beat bosses with inflated health bars. You can fix this issue with other mods, but we didn't get that far.

Here's a link to the mod with a detailed description: https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/...

TLDR for the mod: You can co-op through the entire game with friends without needing to re-summon after boss fights, without needing to fight bosses multiple times for each person, and without any fog gates gating progress. It (mostly) just works. There are some occasional bugs or weird interactions here and there, but almost all of them are quickly solved by disconnecting and reconnecting to the host, which takes all of 20 seconds. We had to do this on average 2 or 3 times during a 3 hour session.

It's a really enjoyable experience. If there were similar mods for the other Souls games, I would co-op my way through all of them again.

All of the From DLCs are excellent and this case it's a true expansion for ER, not just an add on. From will deliver more than $40 of content at the same high level as the base game. I pre- ordered with confidence.

This! FROM has yet to disappoint with any DLC and there is no indication that this time it won't also be a banger.

just the music alone i've heard from the preview videos will make it worth the purchase

Spikeout and I have beaten Mohg Lord of Blood in both our worlds or [expletive deleted] Mohg as we like to call him.

We’ll be able to play the DLC. Whoo!

I'm so amped to play this that its lessening my fun with the games I'm playing right now. 6/21 can't come soon enough!

Spikeout just introduced me to a whole vast new area of Elden Ring I never found. What a game.

Edit: Prep for the DLC continues.

I had a shock, after the recent patches were installed, when I loaded into Elden Ring I was greeted by an old character. I logged out and found my main level 150 character was now level 12. Suitably horrified and thinking my saves were completely screwed, it suddenly occurred to me that, because I have a PS4 disc version, I have two versions of the game, a PS4 version and a PS5 version installed on the console. The saves are associated with the PS4 version (presumably from before I landed a PS5 and switched over.) When I launched the PS5 version of the game my current saves were there. Phew!

I just felled Mohg and camped on the site of grace. My character is ready for the DLC. Rocking an Azur Comet build, pure. Literally took Mohg down in seconds, a stark contrast to my first attempts back when the game launched and it took me a few tries with some tweaking and regrouping to get different equipment.

Elden Ring - Official The Journey So Far Trailer

Fightin' Cowboy - Preparing for the DLC (5 min)

The Reviews are starting to come in. I lasted four minutes mostly listening rather than watching then I turned it off. I’m sold so there’s no point seeing anymore outside the game.

Also, Fighting Cowboy below. He gives an overview of the world from a high point early on. His play through was 35 hours but he’s not done everything. Over all he reckons 40 hours or so.

I want to get it but having not played Elden Ring since I beat it 2(?) years ago, how bad of a mess is it going to be for me?

It soon comes back in terms of the controls. I’d have a play about in the base game to refamiliarise yourself. There are minimum recommended specs out there. Level 60 vitality, etc. I’ve heard that going in on new game plus isn’t recommended.

There are two bosses you need to kill in order to access the DLC. Radahn and Mohg. You’ve probably killed Radahn. Mohg is extremely well hidden and a tough fight and there is an item that I’d say is indispensable for the fight. See spoiler below:

I listened to a few minutes of Fightin Cowboy and that was all I needed to here. He compares it to finding a long lost love and says the exploration and verticality are pushed to the max.

I'm counting down the hours to play...

I saw Fextralife's review. 30 new incantations to 10 new sorceries. What the heck. I am a pure sorc build right now. Is it worth going to pure faith?

It's what larval tears are for... you can respec to try things out

So I broke and bought it. My weekend should be busy now. If anyone shops on fanatical I have a 5 percent coupon they can have.

DLC is pre-loaded on my PS4. Thursday night can't come soon enough! Took Friday and next Monday off to have proper long weekend stab at the new content.

I have it downloaded and ready as well.

I ended up sticking with my NG+ character, who is hopefully powerful enough that the DLC won't be crazy (something like level 165). Unfortunately I still have to get back to the point where I can fight Mohg again, so I won't be able to jump in right away. I am up to the Altus Plateau though, so not TOO much farther. Just have to power through the next few bosses!

Its frustrating that it can't be pre installed on Xbox. Is that a MS or dev issue? I'm going to try setting my console to New Zealand and access it tomorrow at 8am Eastern, which is midnight release in NZ.

New DLC launch trailer.

Also, changing the console to New Zealand in the system settings and rebooting gives access to the DLC as of 8am this morning. You have to then go into Elden Ring, click MS Store and there should be an option to install it.

Apparently, that latest trailer is spoiler heavy. So far I’ve resisted watching it.

My impression is that the DLC releases at 11pm tonight on PC and midnight tomorrow on consoles but maybe it’s midnight tonight? Not sure.

I always avoid FromSoft launch trailers. They've been super spoilery for a long time. Anyone already sold on the game should probably avoid.

The release time is midnight 6/21 (tonight).

Ok. Thanks!

For consoles... PC users get it 6pm EST
