Elden Ring Catch-all

That’s a long time to hide behind the pillars — not too close, mind, because bosses love to have attacks that go through concrete

Yoink!
I likely won't even be playing at that point but I love their style.

Exactly. Not only that, but it was incredibly hard just to get a Rotten Breath fired off without getting killed partway through casting it. The time I finally did beat him my summon (Dragon Knight Kristoff) just happened to live longer than usual into the second phase, so once he was down I didn't have to back up/hide too long. By that point I had played and died against him so many times I was pretty good at dodging the longer range attacks too.

All hail the Halo Scythe. I can spam enough shots and then roll away.

After taking a break for awhile I went back and made it to Volcano Manor. It is a lot bigger than it seemed like…

Spent two hours getting sliced and diced by Malenia last night ... easily the hardest boss I've faced (near the end, haven't gone through the

Watched some videos of how to beat her as a mage before bed and they made it look easy! A few different strats too.

I've heard that the easiest way to beat her is by going into the fight naked, save for a jar on your head.

ISWYDT

Spent another hour or so fighting Melania tonight, and she dead!!

Frustrating, yet satisfying. Used my own summons (Tiche) cos I don’t think “Let me solo her” dude is available in my hemisphere ….

The more I've fought Melania the less I like the fight. She wouldn't be nearly as difficult if it wasn't for her healing.

I've avidly been following this thread and sad that the contributions are tailing off, in quantity, not quality. I'm playing through very slowly but finally reached Melania who I've tried a couple of times and watched my eldest smash her head against many many times and thought, nah, I'll leave that for now. Hah, it's just popped up on Xbox app on my phone the achievement for beating her- she did it. It looks like I might have to bite the bullet.

I'll echo what other have said about their kids playing differently. Mine is much purer in that she doesn't do summons- she learns the fights. She is also way braver and direct. I have wasted way more hours per level mooching about.

I think I'm near the end. I'm at a Sentinel on a bridge in Crumbling Farum Azula and I have been beaten by him about maybe 15 times.

I don't enjoy the hard bosses but most have not been too frustrating. I have unashamedly topped out my mimic and that has made some trivial.

Love the game and love to hear everyone's experiences.

Also sad to see the threads dropping off; I'm a slow player, and realize I'll be essentially alone as I slog through the back half of the game.

I'm sure there may be new life injected into this thread in the coming months, especially with the rumor of DLC toward the latter end of the year.

I'm still playing. Not sure how many times I've finished it at this point. Only thing I can say at this point is it has made all other games bad in my eyes. I combed my backlog and looked at all the digital stores looking for my next game and nothing. I gave up and started looking for mods to see how I can change things up, but any mod that really changes things in the game can get your account banned so I'm a little gun shy. I know there are offline mods, but I do play PvP a lot and don't want to lose access to that.

I’m near the end — up to the Radagon fight.

My son is done, having finished it 3 times. He showed me a new farming spot near Mogh’s palace with the funny bird to shoot and it runs off a cliff and the poor Albinaurics just sitting there for you to harvest. My mage is about level 170.

Spent some time trying different spells/strats for Radagon. While I’ve been using my Mimic Tear A LOT, Tiche got me through Malenia and seems to be good against Radagon.
I was even testing out the old Carian Slicer on him for a laugh (got creamed)

I know that feeling about Elden Ring making other games feel bad … I’m probably going to have lower tolerance for half-assed combat systems in big RPGs now

We can chat together as I just reached volcano manor. I doubt I am a third of the way through yet. I still have the capital to do…

Tiche's blade of death, health-draining effect seemed to stop that, whereas Malenia had been treating my Mimic Tear as a healing station.

The endless aerial Phase 2 moves were also hard, cos I would get squished before I could learn their patterns.

(furiously scribbling notes)

I'll be around a bit as well. My son wants to see all the endings the legit way. He's done the Elden Lord, I'm at Radagon for Rani. He's working on Dung Eater (but I think he messed it up).

I got cocky after chewing through four bosses in a row on 1-2 tries -- then I hit Radagon. Whoo doggy!

Every time I see Radagon I think

You're not alone.

Also: "Reach out, touch grace!"

His feet are too big to be Radagon.

I can see Radagon's hits coming a mile away, but still mess up dodging them.
