It is not cruel to celebrate the passing of evil.
Good.
He can rot in piss. A goodly portion of today's Republican party/"conservative" vileness has a direct line to him.
Great news.
I'm seconding "Good" and adding "about time."
Hoping there is an afterlife, so that dude can suffer there for all eternity.
I was trying to think of something --- without being cruel.
That's pretty much the point where I'm at.

I dunno, he was already pretty sizeable...
What I hate most about him is that now I am a person that celebrates another human being's death. I didn't used to do that.

RIP with the angels.
He was also briefly the spokesperson for Florida orange juice and he never did make good on his move to Costa Rica.
It's been said that anytime a human dies, an entire world dies with them, and we should mourn its passing.
In this case, I just can't. The world inside that man's head was a horrible place. There aren't many people who managed to harm as many fellow humans as Rush Limbaugh, and who had such a destructive influence on the society they were in. His constant, knowing misrepresentations and outright lies, telling people what they wanted to hear instead of the truth, have been extremely corrosive to what being an American even means.
It was also corrosive, I think, to himself. You can't lie that loudly and that often without doing a lot of damage to yourself. If there's an afterlife, that soul is terribly stained.
It's really interesting from a medical perspective how one cancer is able to kill another.
RIP with the angels.
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
No. f*ck 'im.

How the hell were you not perma banned ages ago?? I guess that tells us why so many GWJ regulars stopped being regulars because posters like this were allowed to stick around and be awful.
Best eulogy I've seen today
Rush Limbaugh, the sex tourist and drug addict whose four marriages, mockery of people after their deaths and overt racism and misogyny made him a beloved icon of American conservatism, is dead at 70.
How the hell were you not perma banned ages ago?? I guess that tells us why so many GWJ regulars stopped being regulars because posters like this were allowed to stick around and be awful.
Paying my respects is not being awful. Celebrating someone's death is.
LOL blaming me as being the reason regulars stopped posting here. I haven't posted here in years.
Theory - someone is trying to get the celebration of rush Limbaugh’s death thread locked via suicide by dogpile.
Celebrating someone's death is.
Not if that person is Rush Limbaugh.

I'm not against Matt presenting a different view and I don't feel he did so in a terrible way. That being said, I've been reading lists of Rush's worst quotes. All of his accomplishments pale in comparison to his hatred and bigotry.
I'm not celebrating his death but I'm sad at the damage he did to our politics.

And yet, you chose today of all days to pop back in. GG's question stands.

-- Busted at the Palm Beach International Airport for possessing 29 tablets of Viagra he had no prescription for after flying in from the Dominican Republic, a popular sex tourism destination, with four of his slimy buddies.
-- Thrice divorced opponent of marriage equality who said same-sex marriage was gay people "...seek[ing] to impose their perverted views, their depraved views on family and marriage" and that accepting marriage equality would be "normalizing pedophilia."
-- Noted racist who called for the NBA to be renamed as the TBA (Thug Basketball Association) and said that teams be called gangs; who said "the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it."; who told a Black caller to his program "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.”; who said "Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”; and who repeatedly played the song "Barack the Magic Negro" on his program among many other instances.
-- Noted homophobe who repeatedly ran an "AIDS Update" segment on his program during which he mocked gay people who had died from the disease. He introduced the segment with various songs, including “Back in the Saddle Again,” “Kiss Him Goodbye,” “I Know I’ll Never Love This Way Again,” and “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places.”

The coronavirus is the common cold, folks," the the disease was "being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump," and who lied to his millions of listeners telling them falsely that the American Medical Association rescinded a previous statement and now the doctor's group said "hydroxychloroquine is okay" for COVID-19.
-- Celebrated philanthropist who accused Michael J. Fox of being a faker who exaggerated the effects of his Parkinson's disease--"He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. .."--for a series of ads supporting candidates who supported stem cell research.
-- Promoter of the traitorous lie that Biden didn't "legitimately" win the 2020 election because of "massive voter fraud."
-- Staunch supporter of harsh and mandatory penalties for drug abusers who was arrested and charged with shopping around for four doctors who illegally prescribed him over 2,000 painkillers over the course of just six months. Rather than accept punishment for his drug abuse--which he once said was destroying the country--he fought the charges and subsquent state investigation for over three years.
Suffer in Hell, human garbage.

I'm glad he did something good by raising money for cancer research. Unfortunately he might have gotten more people killed then were potentially saved. The other stuff I don't care about, just a bunch of meaningless rewards and one from one of the worse people in American history.

You both have time to think of something. There's no rush.
There's no rush.
I will be laughing about this for days!

You missed my favorite accomplishment of his:
- Died 17-Feb-2021
One thing you can say for the guy, he did make a lot of money for a lot of terrible people while arguably doing more than any other person to destroy the fabric of American civil society. Sometimes he apparently even was given ceremonial awards for enriching his fellow vile plutocrats!
What I hate most about him is that now I am a person that celebrates another human being's death. I didn't used to do that.
This for the most part.
I'm glad he's no longer spewing lies and hatred.
I only saw snippets of his show when it was mocked by other media (mostly Jon Stewart's alumni class). What little I saw felt disgusting and immediately made me angry.
- EIB Cure-a-Thon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has raised over $15 million
I was not aware of anything he did, beyond creating misinformation, racism and hatred, but this, I believe, has to be recognized. Humanity is not in a place where we can reject cancer-research money.

This feels more worthy of a perma ban than anything yet posted on this thread.
I don't really keep track of who qualifies as a regular or how much they post or have stopped posting, but I can't believe going out of your way for not spitting on someone's grave adds to that.
If someone on this thread hated Limbaugh because of the hate he generated, we shouldn't react in the same way.
Hobbes, with all due respect, Matt's entire GWJ body of work has been to troll Dimmerswitch and to support Governor Walker. You are wrong, sir.
No amount of charity will ever wipe away the damage Limbaugh did. He's the fundamental genesis of the idea that being truly horrible to other people is somehow admirable, and the vicious, awful, bigoted, garbage fire of a clown show that was his media career is what led to so much of the modern "conservative" movement being little more than a fire hose for racism, sexism, and belittling everyone else in the name of "truth". He is deeply and clearly one of the worst human beings who ever vomited their way into public consciousness over the past 30 years, and I hope he died in pain, overwhelmed with regret, realizing he'd be remembered as someone who will be remembered for nothing other than being awful.
There are no words to describe the amount of damage that man did.
