NCAA Football 2021-22 Season

The thing I'm most excited to see right now is the third SEC Shorts "Hope" video. We need our own yummy rat poison.

There was an earlier discussion of ND and the fact that they don't have a conference championship:

This is one of the reasons I think the original 12-team playoff proposal was brilliant – neither ND or any other independent would be eligible for one of the first round byes, even if they were ranked in the top 4 teams. ND or another independent would have their version of a play-in game in the first round. They'd be playing one of the top 12 teams in the country, which would perhaps be a higher-ranked team than many conference champions would face in their championship games (I'm looking at you, ACC...).

I think this levels the playing field for ND compared with other top teams that do have to play in a championship game against a probably-good conference foe. It makes independents have a similar path to the final game.

Got the matchups, underestimated how much the committee loves the SEC.

lol

To be fair, it's not just the committee. Look at the betting lines.

It's not just the committee, it's not just Vegas - look at the results on the field. Reality is biased, and I for one am sick of it!

1-2 against the Pac-12.. lone win a 3-point win over Colorado. check.

Can we wait until after the games to crown a champion, or should we just crown 'Bama the champion this year and going forward?

That's not really fair. There was something that had to be done to set up the championship series. The committee had to rank the teams in some order, supposedly by how good the teams were and how well they've performed, especially recently.

So they put them in order to seed the games. They put Bama as first. Gamblers seem to think that's valid as well. Michigan was second to the committee, although Vegas thinks they should have been third. Neither the committee or Vegas seems to think Cincinnati should be higher than fourth.

If any of these four take care of their business, they'll be the champ. If you're Cincinnati you've got a harder set of games to make it through, but you still have to beat two teams to win. Just like Alabama will have to do. Or Michigan. Or Georgia.

What seemed to be avoided with OSU losing was a controversy of who should have made it into the four. Looks like the right four teams.

Cristobal off to Miami... another Pac-12 coach off to greener pastures.

Mike Leach:
first 2 seasons WSU: 9-16
first 2 seasons Miss St: 11-12

Ed Orgeron:
USC: 6-2 fired mid season
LSU: 51-20 National championship

sometimes you just have to go somewhere easier to win to get your career back on track?

Willie Taggart:
Oregon: 7-5
FSU: 9-12
Florida Atlantic: 10-11

Chip Kelly:
Oregon: 46-7
NFL: 28-35
UCLA: 18-25

Sometimes you should stick with what's working.

To be fair I cherry picked and Taggart was a bad coach going 7-5 with other peoples players.

They should have gone to the SEC... seems like that's where Pac-12 coaches go to pick up some easy wins and win national championships

That's clearly the decision that Lincoln Riley came to. Oh, wait.....

Lincoln Riley was in the SEC? Fed doesn't seem to think Cal's victory over A&M counts as an SEC win (or more recently Cal's 2x against Texas?).

I believe the last SEC coach to move to the so bad, Vanderbilt's JV team would go undefeated, Pac-12 conference was Kevin Sumlin? In fairness to him, he did manage to beat Cal while with the Wildcats, which is something A&M couldn't manage to do.

He was about to be and said, nah, I'm good.

Also, Coach O wasn't fired by USC, he was just an interim.

I guess we'll find out, maybe he'll go to the Rose Bowl every year.. or maybe he'll have the same the same success other SEC (though he isn't and SEC coach? but i'll hold myself and you to it) in the Pac-12.. which is to say none in recent memory.

Well to keep score, we have to track the Sooners. My assumption is that they will be no better than 5th or 6th best program on a yearly basis.

If that's where they end up in the SEC while Lincoln owns the Pac12, then I'd say he made the right choice.

Jorts!

I'm over here in the corner, arguing with hope.

Senile dementia ain't nothing to f*** with, folks.

Are we talking about games played during the year this was released?

OMG, carlbear— Cal visits Notre Dame next season!

Plus we get OSU in the Horseshoe to start the season and Clemson at home near the end.

First team to try this in-game should be granted an immediate first down, regardless of result.

Shame ND will be 0-2 after losing first to my wife’s alma mater then to mine.

Yeah, few folks from my group already rented out an Airbnb in South Bend for that weekend. I'm still debating whether I slum it with them or just come over from Chicago.
