EA Sports College Football 2025

That's the kind of hilarious thing that has me going "how weren't we able to do that already" and "wow, that means... almost nothing!"

Restarted as an OC at Georgia State. Enjoying it more-ish now that I'm basically super-simming most games and only playing rivalry games/recruit visits/big games. It's year 2 and we somehow stomped into Carter–Finley Stadium and beat the #12 ranked Wolfpack, who were VASTLY overrated, and then immediately followed that by getting crushed by 27 points by Vandy. Go fig.

I'm so sorry Carlbear, but after getting Georgia State to the edge of the CFP, UCLA offered me the HC gig and I took it.

It is not like they're in the same conference; you probably don't even have to play that Atlantic Coast school.

Stick to the other Middle America schools like Maryland and Rutgers.

I thought about retiring in 2031 but I'm going for one more year at OK St at least.

Played against my old Texas St team, who seems to be holding up 3 years later. 92 vs 91 overall rating. #3 vs #18 in poll. Pretty sure that's the most times I've ever punted but hey I recruited at least 1/3 of that defense.

Tight game, they hit the upright on TWO FGs. One went in but one didn't. I didn't score the first half but finally got rolling with 2 TDs in the 3rd. They kicked another FG to take the lead back 15-14. I scored with just over 3 min left in the 4th, and got the 2. They tied it up at 22 with exactly 1 min left. I quickly got to the 40 with about 30 sec left. Ran for a few more yards twice to kill the clock and center the ball. Last timeout with 2 sec, and 45 yard kick as time expired.

Sometimes this game is really fun.

Still I had #1 class 2 years in a row. In the off-season I had over recruited and had to cut 6 players. 3 of them were pretty good, I didn't really want to. So this season I committed to not recruit more than 13-15 players.

It was actually super easy and I have 9 5*, 5 4*, and 1 3* FB. Got everyone I put on my list because I was able to put full 75 points into all but like 3 or 4 the first 2 weeks. Everyone is signed at week 6 already. Should be able to zip through the rest of the season pretty quick.

Patch notes

Big dynasty fix:

Fixed an issue where coaches would not receive any job offers when receiving a contract extension.

Lots of new plays in playbooks. Lots of exploit fixes. Seems like a good amount of stuff

I played enough games to get through season 2 of Road To Glory last night, as I led BYU to a national championship. Even though I’ve racked up over 9000 yards and won a championship I still get sacked about 6 or 7 times a game. It’s just silly. Not remotely realistic.

Watching some of the videos of EA FC 25 and NBA 2K 25 and they really kinda highlight how much EA dropped the ball with everything off the field in this game. Like, I'm enjoying myself fine enough now that I've accepted the game for what it is, and I'm sure it'll get better, but watch pretty much any 2K Franchise video or EA FC video to see how they make you feel like you're in a living world of sport.

CFB 25, off the field, is basically a collection of menus I barely look at and a "Top Stories" feature that literally is unchanged from a decade ago.

That said, I'm still enjoying myself well enough, especially now that I can edit my players and dick around as much as I want to.

It's weird. Almost three months in, and this is absolutely not a bad game. On the field, the most important place, I'm mostly having fun, even with my remaining quibbles. But I also think it's pathetic that Dynasty mode and most of the off-the-field fun are largely unchanged in the last decade. It's like a TV show that you watch and enjoy every week, even though there are several things about it you know are terrible.

Anyway, my first year, UCLA had the most insane season, somehow sneaking into the playoff by beating Oklahoma, USC and Ohio State in the Big 10 Championship, before Georgia put us in our place in the Semis.

I really lucked out jumping from Georgia State to UCLA, and my QB (a real-life person) has apparently grown into one of the nation's best, so while realistically we should still be 2-3 years away from really challenging for a title, I think we could do something miraculous this year.

That is, if our defense, which is like 2/3rds kids I just recruited holds up.

Nearly 2GB patch today. Haven't seen notes yet.

Feels like this might be the last big one?

College Football 25 Patch Adds 700+ New Players, Fixes Many Jersey Numbers, and More

For my needs, some tweaks to gameplay and dynasty mode, but nothing to write home about.

Be a good time to start a new dynasty with more real players finally.

I may do that.. I figured I didn't want to lose my undefeated season.. but who am I kidding.. i'm going to be undefeated in my new season as well and the depth chart will be better, and I can turn off recruiting.

So like real Cal?

Sadly, Cal does recruiting and given where it is in the college football pecking order, probably punches above its weight. Unfortunately it can't do anything with it.

GWJ Post of the Day. (sorry CB)

I don't know where to post this, but I need someone to tell Bordeaux that editing his video so there are literally no natural pauses (or any pauses whatsoever) in his speaking is absolutely awful.

If this is a new thing Gen Alpha is into, I am going to have to stop using YouTube.

You pretty much described almost every video my kids watch. I hear it for way too long every single day.

"We're way too busy vegetating to have time for pauses!"

I also watch Not The Expert, and the issue may be that his manner of speech is so monotone that the lack of pauses seems extra egregious.
