Posted in the normal CFB Thread, but one way we solve this licensing problem is to offer a lower price "My Team" version.
The My Team costs half the price of the full version features one college team of the players choice, including names, likeness, licensed logos, fight songs, everything. Every other team is identified, like an Oregon and Alabama with logos from the NCAA but players are still"RB #33". You can only play as the one team you choose. That way the majority of the licensing revenue goes to the school in question. They can pay a few kids to sell this version at every home game and that school gets the majority of the benefit.
It could solve the problem about big name school demanding more money because they think their school is more valuable than the other school. If I'm only buying the Cal version, Notre Dame can't claim that they deserve more of my dollar than Cal, and if it turns out that I'm the only one buying the Cal version and everyone else is buying ND, then they have certainly earned more money.
This of course is predicated on my honest belief that most fans of College Football video games really only care about one team... their team. Will only want to play a dynasty mode with that team, and that they get more joy watching their team go undefeated every season, than playing as a team that actually can go undefeated
They could sell DLC team rosters per school. Direct money, easy to license and distribute.
And they can charge double to SEC fans. I mean if it "just means more" then it has to cost more too.
I fired up NCAA 14 this week.
Someone posted the PC version with updated rosters recently, here I think? I can't remember. But I saw it. Downloaded that a week or two ago, and got it up and running... and my 5 year old CPU just can't handle it. I get through the menus fine, and into game or practice, at least to select one play... and then it craps out. Crazy what it takes to emulate an old console.
So I went back to the PS3 a couple days ago, got my controllers charged, play a couple of other games too. Fired up NCAA last night, ran some practice plays on my dynasty to try to refresh myself with my roster and playbook. Then played an exhibition game. Struggled a bit, was like 10-10 at the half. But just remembering controls and getting in the flow. So then back to my dynasty...
And then Teddy Bridgewater proceeds to go 4-18. Only 2 of those passes were defended. The other 12 incompletes were drops. Most of them by Devante Parker, who's a damned 1st round WR. A few to the TE, a few to WR2 Eli Rogers, who also was damn good. Parker might be better in the game even than in real life, it's been a while since I looked at rosters. I am completely flabbergasted. Turned the game off in disgust after I went for a 4th and 6 at midfield and dropped attempt 18.
I know I'm rusty, but WTF. I played 2 or 3 years of the series, and through 2 complete seasons with this version of the game. Looks like my last saves were 2016 so it's been a while, but damn. I'm not even playing on the hardest difficulty either because I like for the game to be fun, not insanely challenging. I'd prefer to win games against teams I'm way better than without stressing myself out and have a good challenge only against the best teams.
Anyway, just a little rant. I still hope the new game comes eventually. For now, I'll slog through another try at this I think.
Oh right I found my post in the old game thread
Looks like I actually won this game 5 years ago, then the game locked up on me. So yeah... cursed to never defeat Georgia Tech and stuck playing against their triple option forever apparently...
LOL, well, that's the thing I'm always thinking of with this. At the end of the day, it's still a football game made by EA, and if the caterwauling online about gameplay is any indication, that's not always working out the best right now.
Anything ever happen with this? 2022 is almost over and NIL is everywhere. Pay the players and make the game already.
They’ve always said they were aiming for 2023.
Except now there is rumor that it won’t be released until 2024…
@MattBrownEP: Per multiple sources familiar with the situation, EA is expected to announce tomorrow morning around 10 AM ET that EA Sports College Football will be delayed until 2024. More details to come tomorrow.
Yep summer 24, article at ESPN
Yeah the deluxe cover floating around twitter last week. And it's really annoying how it has some schools twice, in both jerseys and flags in the background. Spread the love people, there's fans of 130 teams interesting in this thing, not just Michigan.

Lol my thoughts exactly. If no one from tOSU, Oklahoma, A&M or [everyone who's already tired of Deion's 4-win team] buys the game, how does that help the franchise?
Should have been a generic physical cover. Digital, you get to pick the Icon on your console home screen. Thankfully stanfurd is just as pitiful as Cal so there will be no tree logos, but if like Andrew Luck or Christian McCaffery "narrates" the dynasty (or whatever) mode, i'm saving my $60.
btw I have no idea who Michigan "Edwards" is
Interesting video, since he mentions being an insider and seeing a preview. But then it looks like all the text is from a blog post?
EA sports web site has something posted? I haven't seen it linked from twitter. Seems like some of it the video guy hasn't actually seen, but he's just riffing off the blog post. I maybe could have just read it and saved about 11 minutes.
32 player online dynasty though. Let's all go PS5.
I'm going to write a LOT more about Dynasty mode and RTG tomorrow, but yes. You can start your career as a coordinator and move up to other jobs at the end of the season, as well as manage (hire, fire) your staff as a head coach. WAY deeper system than '14
Lol I was coming to post that. Sub heading at the top: "It's not Madden"
So that's good.
I love that Matt Brown's mentions on Twitter are full of idiots insisting that he's "pushing EA's narrative" and that it definitely is a Madden reskin because they totally can tell from the trailer.
Lord in heaven, Gamers, man.
Okay, it's an EA Sports blog, but there's a lot of detail in this article about what they were trying to do. It includes several gameplay videos.
Herb-y narrated marketing here:
I doubt it will, but one of the things I've disliked about EA's games in general, but especially the CFB games, is the ratings.
By which I mean, they oughtta use more of the scale. Don't have a 0-99 rating scale if you're only going to really use 65-99. CFB isn't really a "any given Sunday" sport like the NFL, the talent gap between Georgia and Akron is so vast as to be borderline impossible to cross.
That, and my larger criticism with sports games of all kinds these days, where you play to the difficulty level first, and the team second. So playing 0-8 UL Monroe doesn't feel meaningfully different than playing LSU, if you're on Heisman difficulty. That I have no expectation to see change.
Anyway, watching the video, the Wear and Tear system is probably not going to work right out of the box and will annoy a LOT of people, I guarantee you.

Yeah, that's my worry. Makes me wonder if dynasties will have the ability to turn that off.
On the flip side, I hope they make it really easy to have sub packages to rotate "skill" players and especially D-line rotation. Both are such important aspects of college football in ways that I don't know that they are in the pro ranks.
The RPO stuff sounds great. Honestly NCAA 14 had it perfect with the run read options. And then the CFB Revamped playbooks actually added some pass options to the same thing. They're a little glitchy, but I found some that work amazing. That's one of the reasons I was still playing NCAA 14 on PC last year.
Here's hoping Dynasty mode will come with a stadium designer, so I can get Syracuse out of that godforsaken shack.
1:36 showin Cal’s Jaydn Ott as highlight. Watched it a few times and I think it’s the only non-traditional power showcased with some video, not as the player getting posterized.
100% Day One Buy.
Oh, this could turn out to be a reskin of NFL Football '94 and I'm still buying it day one.

Totally and completely. I’ve already preordered whatever the hell the premium version is. I may not use all the UT no sense, but maybe my kids will use it.
