Companies and games you'd like to see touch the Star Wars Universe

So as many of you likely heard, Ubisoft and Lucasfilms games are partnering together to make an open-world Star Wars game. So it looks like EA will no longer hold a force choke (sorry) on the Star Wars brand any more.

This means we have the opportunity to think about a wish list for Developers we would like to see get a crack at the Star Wars license and what those games could be.

Here's a couple I'd love to see:

Firaxis creating a Jedi Council game, where you send off Jedis and padawans on different missions similar to XCOM2.

CDProjektRed basically turning Cyberpunk into a Bounty Hunter game on Coruscant. Without...you know...all of the bugs...

You Scoundrel! A Rebel Galaxy/Star Traders/FTL game where you have your fastest hunkajunk in the galaxy, a blaster, and your best sidekick at your...side.

A Mos Eisley Tavern Simulator where you need to get that Wookie his Spotchka fast before he tears your arms out

Sir, You Are Being Hunted on Dantooine

Will Wright's Midichlorian

and of course...GTA: Corellia

Any others?

Doublefine's Battledroids!
Respawn's Republic Commando
Firaxis' Republic Commando: Tactics
Playsport Games' Podracing Manager
Bioware's Knights of the Old Republic III, not an MMO edition, also this is the Bioware from 15 years ago
alternatively: Hare-brained Games' Knights of the Old Republic III
Untitled Rancor Game

From Software's Jedi: Fallen Order 2
Frontier Development's Star Wars: Intergalactic Trader

Control proves Remedy needs a chance to make a Star Wars game. Jesse Faden already has the most enjoyable Force powers in a game ever.

Double Damage - Rebel Galaxy (but not Outlaw) style SW capital ship game (not that the millennium falcon is a technically a freighter)

SW game in the vein of Gratuitous Space Battles

SW game like Diablo 3 with open skill building and swapping under the archetype of jedi or bounty hunter. I guess it would be D3's world design with PoE's skill system

Battle for Hoth style tower defense game.

Lol, Howard Day, the art director for Double Damage has been putting up really beautiful SW space combat animations (and also some Trek stuff) on his YouTube channel for the past few months. No indication it's anything more than a hobby project though.

Square-Enix - Krayt Dragon Quest

[edit]This is more appropriate. And Porgs can take the place of Slimes.

This, or alternatively let the Yakuza devs make one. Turn-based or brawler-based like the older games, I don't care.

I'll have an Inkle narrative adventure, thanks.

Artery Games: Secret of the Magic Kyber Crystals

GTA: Corellia

Chindinkalu Flute Hero

Supergiant’s Boba Fett. Sort of like Hades but you return to a funky cantina every time you “die.”

Paradox grand strategy space game set during the Clone Wars.

Nintendo’s Grogu Crossing: little Jedi Island.

Either Rockstar or CD Projekt Red making a Han Solo Chronicles set right after his origin movie. All about the underworld, spice smuggling, etc.

I would pay a lot of beskar to see Mimimi to do a Shadow Tactics/Desperados III where your team infiltrates iconic, heavily guarded Star Wars locales. Character-specific abilities would be drawn from Force powers and Mandalorian gadgets.

We just need Jedi Academy 2, period.

Yeah, I would love both a new KOTOR, but single-player, and another sequel to Jedi Academy. The original games are super playable, but the graphics are Spartan by modern standards. They could make something absolutely amazing.

If they had an optional VR mode for lightsaber battles, I think they would probably move a fair number of headsets. The early Jedi Knights were mostly focused on joystick sabers, but then they went to mouse sabers in the later games. Having actual VR sabers could be pretty kickass.

edit: of course, with my slow old-guy reflexes, I'd probably just get killed.

Paradox's "Imperial Galaxy".

Well, if we're dreaming, this is what I'd love to see:

I see Firaxis have already been covered but could I have an Imperial one from them where I have control of Storm Troopers, At-Ats, speeder bikes etc. If you want to release it alongside a new Tie Fighter game please that would be just grand!

Happy to see your thread as it is, just what I’ve been looking for and excited to read all the posts from you.

It IS a good thread, but get your spammy signature out of here! BEGONE!

I'd wish for Creative Assembly's Total War: Star Wars.

There have been Star Wars strategy games with a galactic map and real-time tactical battles before (SW: Rebellion in the 90s, Empire at War in the 2000s) -- I'd love to see what CA, at the height of its powers, could do with the setting.

Clone of Duty

Utinni! Jawa Manager Game

Relic or Blackbird Empire at War
Blackbird Jakku:Star Ship Scavenger

Ooh, you know, it would actually be a great fit for the Yakuza devs to take a run at making a Yakuza-ish game with an equally appropriate title: "Mandalorian"

Mando is a Star Wars analogue to Kiryu, so we're already starting off on the right foot. And the nature of Mando taking odd jobs is a perfect fit for the substories of the Yakuza games.

I'd like the team behind Sleeping Dogs to do a Mando brawler.

Arkane Studios to do a bounty hunter immersive sim: be Boba Fett, IG-88, Bossk or ... the other ones, taking contracts and infiltrating maps with different suites of powers/gadgets

I'm in. I'm so in.

BioWare (or maybe Obsidian) do a CRPG based on time before the movies--or even the High Republic.

dp for my troll-y post.

Serves me right.

Modern Obsidian would just make it dreary and depressing, with few or no good outcomes for anyone.
