Outriders - Catch All

I still have yet to complete the campaign with a single toon lol. But casual browsing of Reddit leads me to believe the (hardcore) player base has fallen out of the honeymoon phase hard with Outriders.

Yes, essentially because they ran out of things to do. The end-game was really fun but limited, and defeated relatively quickly by optimized character builds. I put more than 200 hours into the game and really enjoyed it, but I could only run short CT15 raids so many times on my tricked-out Devastator before it became kind of samey.

And to PCF's credit, 200 hours is a lot of time playing a non live service game.
I know you aren't, but that is a lot of bang for buck and nothing to complain about.

I put 70+ in and am thrilled with what I got out of it.

I would put another 30 in for alternate characters if I didn’t have to waste 6 hours per character running through the story again.

They also should have buffed legendary drop rates by at least 2-5x in my opinion.

290 hours and have 4 CT15 characters. Outside of doing a 5th one, helping others, or farming for specific legendaries there's nothing else to do.

Disagree about buffing the legendary drop rate. Even before we had our christmas day dump of goodies. I thought it was in a good spot. After the dump there's like only 4 distinct pieces i actually now want between all 4 characters.

Oh absolutely - and I'll likely jump right back in if they release a sequel or add-on. I think they did an amazing job with the game design itself and I'd love to see more.

I mean, these are all very generous playtime hours. But this is exactly what they set out to do, to create a complete experience without resorting to a live service model. The earliest expansion content could still be one year away.

The inventory wipe and insta death bugs grabbing all the headlines I guess?

Pretty much. They did finally do the inventory restore with extras, and they stated how to fix the insta death bug, but they've been slow on pushing out an update for it. It keeps getting delayed so the internet will internet.

I guess it depends on your luck. I stopped playing after getting 1 legendary in about 10 CT12 runs (never got to CT15). It was very annoying, especially with the insta death bug, way too much work for nothing.

And I never got the christmas day dump but I also haven't experienced inventory wipe.

All and all, I've got my 100 hours out of this game but they were plagued with all the bugs, issues and the fear of my inventory getting wiped. I got my money worth but I don't have warm feelings about this game and, most likely, won't be buying expansions, dlc, etc.

You are definitely an outlier because the game gives 3 legendaries as you progress through the story.

Did you go back and check? They handed out the legendaries in 3 waves. Those who had their gear wiped and couldn't connect with character, Those with just the inventory wipe and then everyone else.

Still if the game isn't for you then no shinies are going to help with that.

How did they distribute the legendaries for everyone else? I don't remember seeing anything new appear so I assumed it hadn't been done yet.

It started a month ago. I posted upthread the results of my restoration.

No no, I finished the story and got all the appropriate legendaries from it like you said. What I am talking about is the CT grind after the story. It's just very frustrating to run the max CT you can, have a very tough run, finish it with gold and get only purples for it. Time and time again.

I just checked, they handed out no legendaries to me, even though I've been playing since day 1, albeit with no inventory issues, as far as I know.

Makes me wonder if that "everyone else" wave really existed or if it's been bugged like so many things in the game.

From that reddit post Ranalin linked to above:

Therefore, even if you did NOT encounter an inventory wipe, you may well receive up to 20 God Rolled Legendary Items that you may have previously lost to a bug or sold to a vendor

Sounds like the legendary piñata is not a guaranteed thing - if you haven't had an inventory wipe, you might get some legendaries that their script thinks you might have lost. Up to 20. Or none at all.

The game is just a big frustrating f*ckup and I am over it.

I began playing this on my Series X last week via Gamepass. I loved it and wanted to play coop with my son. So I bought it in Steam as well. I just requested refund today. Crossplay was a joke. The lag and drop outs were very frequent. I don’t know if that is a function of Crossplay or if it is the same disaster within the same console environment. No other game we play coop had the same issues. But, it was frustrating on this one...enough to quit out permanently.

The restoration seemed to have benefited folks with multiple characters more than those with just one.

On my account I was expecting only my one deleted inventory character to get restored, but all 4 of my others got new gear. My 2 least played characters got the most with the stack of 20 legendaries, but my 2 most played had around 4-6 given to them.

End of the day RNG is well... RNG. They also never did address my biggest complaint of the game. The balance when playing with others was way off. You could have a build that worked like a well oiled machine solo, but the moment you jumped into a match with others it was all out of wack. I definitely got all i could out of the game. Got two characters to reliably run ct14/15s and got silver on Eye of the Storm. Outside of trying to farm for a small slice of gear i have nothing else to do in the game. If they come back with more and indication is that they will I'll be checking it out. I understand why others wouldn't though.

Hi all. I just picked this up on Game Pass and am liking it so far. But my rig is...not very capable. I'm playing fullscreen at 1080 on a 4k tv, but it keeps glitching into windowed mode, among other things. There is no hope my 960 can push this game at 4k native resolution. How stable is this on PC overall. Should I consider buying it on console instead?

I have been playing it on pc, running a 2060 Super RTX gpu at 1440p on high settings without issue. I can't vouch for others on pc, but the only thing I had to do was drop down from Ultra settings, otherwise it's been a good experience.

So, you're saying we should swap GPU's to see if that's the problem? A fine idea! j/k

I will try dropping the graphics level, in case it is running out of memory somewhere. I may also try running at 4k but I doubt I can get 30+ fps on even the lowest level...

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't have experience with 4K, so YMMV, but my 32" monitor is 2K and has been doing well. You pretty much nailed it with your gpu being the limiting factor and with gpu's being still kind of ridiculous price-wise, your better bet may be console.

Outriders has a new update! New expeditions and they removed timers from expeditions. I'm planning on jumping back in, anyone want to join?

I've been playing a few hours over the last day and a half. Not having timers helps a bunch. The end game is still really overwhelming. And probably too much so to stick with it long term.

How so? With the time limit removed it's just a matter of rinse/repeat on the missions.

I played a couple runs last night and it actually felt great to run expeditions because no one was leaving because of the timers.

Maybe they make the expeditions harder for the good loot instead of being time based?

I prefer more challenging over time based any day. It gives additional options to tackle the expedition ie using cover more etc.
