Outriders - Catch All

This may be the game I am looking most toward for 2021.

You can get your fill of excellent videos here

The game itself seems to be getting a lot of good press in the last several weeks.

FAQ

Release Date: 2 Feb 2021

I hadn't really heard anything about it - other than the name - until today when I saw a YouTube video. I agree; I'm already a die-hard looter-shooter fan and this is looking like it could be one of the best yet!

Oh - and it's cross-platform across ALL platforms!!!

Been keeping an eye on this for a while. Got irritated at commenters on YouTube videos who kept spamming "lol this looks like [game] and [game] mixed together" as if it was an original thought. I personally don't care a bit of a game is similar to or even derivative of other games as long as those were good games and the result is fun.

I understand why Squeenix saying "This is not a GaaS, it's complete out of the box" makes people happy, BUT games like this do need a roadmap of new content updates to have any legs.

Well at least according to the developer - there are plans for long term updates/DLC. It comes out of the box with 14 expeditions (end game type content) and I think their are 10 World Tiers. I see that as similar to PoE or Diablo from an "end game" perspective. They have been very clear that this is an SP/Co-Op (max 3 players) RPG experience with an "end game" tail that they intend to add to. Im sure this has been hashed out in many threads, but I always wonder as gamers how much quality entertainment time are we owed with our $40-60 dollar purchase, 10, 20, 30 , more? Video games have now exceeded all other media forms (passing movies) in how much they have grossed this year. Average movie ticket is $15, average movie length 1.5 hours. I know apples to oranges but is 6 hours of a good game worth $60? Why does every game need to have legs and if it needs to have legs than it needs to have a pricing model to support those legs and the development time to generate those legs and yet we regularly complain about DLC costs and extra content being charged for.

Really looking forward to this one! I hope this one gets popular since I love the look and feel of this and been hoping for a 3rd person cover PvE loot shooter since Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

The fact that it’s Cross Play is a big plus in my book.

I’ll keep an eye on review coverage. I haven’t liked one of these yet, Destiny was a dud for me, Borderlands has always been boring, the Division enemies were too bullet-spongy, but I kinda like the aesthetic here. I’m cautious because I haven’t typically enjoyed the developer’s work. Bulletstorm was a big disappointment.

I wonder how it’ll be solo.

Good Starter Guide for folks who havent soaked up all the preview content.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well that's annoying. Was looking forward to it.

Demo on the 25th so not all bad

Really disappointing.. With this second delay, let's hope this is polished when released.

The demo, which is more like a free trial, is a really cool plan. I was luke warm on the idea of the game until I read more about it today. I'm not 100% in since that depends on how much of a viable single player experience it is.

Here's a Giant Bomb Unfinished for those that want some hands on impressions from August. They were very positive after playing it.

Please be good! Demo out next Thursday, Feb 25.

Edit: No idea how I link it to start at beginning of the vid.

I'm very interested in trying out the demo. Really curious how the game plays solo.

I am interested in this but I am getting a strong Anthem vibe from it. It seems like they are trying to pull off too much and I fear some of the core systems may not be "fun" or as competent as they should be.

The early press preview came back surprisingly positive, so there is that at least. Also, releasing an early demo is a pretty good sign of confidence. I don't think it's going for anything quite as ambitious as Anthem was pitched as either. There's a very good chance you are right, though.

Everything released so far about it has shown they're deliberately taking lessons from Anthem and not doing things the way they did.

I can see that they are trying and seem to be succeeding at that.
Anthem's problems weren't a lack of enhanced features. It is that so many of them were under developed that they couldn't focus on what to devote dev time going forward. The solution to that is sometimes to do less but do it well and leave other things at their basic but fun core as a foundation to build on.

Yeah, looking forward to this one, this type of game is my sweet spot.

Some more info on the demo

I am not usually into legendary weapon systems as many times they pigeon hole you into a play style counter to how you want to play. But this has me seriously amped:

Love the flexibility of the weapon mods to customize how you want it to be. Really cool ideas

So excited!!

I'll just play it because the game sounds interesting, is from a developer that's made games I've enjoyed in the past, and is free. The big bonus is that you just don't see no-strings-attached month prior demo releases anymore.

It never occured to me that 9:00PST meant 9:00am PST. Excited to take a look at the demo after the kids are in bed.

Don't forget to link your SE account to whatever platform you're playing it on.

I had no clue that the demo progress will be transferred over to the real game!!

Thanks for the tip and reminder!

Hmmm, for some reason only the PS5 version is showing up for me in the PS store.

EDIT - took some time for some reason but now the PS4 demo is up, will check it out tonight.
