NBA 2020-21 Season Catch-All

Pages

To disuss the 2020-21 season, which starts amid an ongoing pandemic and post-Orlando Bubble, out in the real world now.

The new hero should either be a shot of teams playing in empty arenas (I still can’t believe the NBA didn’t work out a bubble 2 somehow) or something Harden related in meme format.

Yeah with no bubble this is going to be interesting.

Hoping Donovan Mitchell lives up to his new contract and the jazz win some playoffs series.

Very curious about the Raptors this year. Going to be a lot of increased responsibilities for young players.

Really interested in seeing how Flynn adjusts to the NBA. He's got the perfect opportunity. Raptors have an outstanding development system, players enthusiastically mentor younger guys, Lowry and Vanvleet both undersized and found huge success, and they are only have two traditional PGs and both start. They do have 4-5 SGs that will get rotation minutes, though.

Giannis stays with the Bucks. As much as I wanted him with the Raptors, I'm happy for the Bucks. Teams that aren't sexy destinations really struggle with the NBA. Giannis staying is very good.

A bunch of teams now have to start rethinking their plans.

I think a lot of teams were building cap space in-case Giannis doesn't re-sign but with that out of the way, I wouldn't be surprised to see those same teams make more moves. Heat, Raptors, Knicks, Spurs, and Thunder jump out as potential big players in many different ways.

Well I've set a alarm for the fsntasy league draft tomorrow so hopefully I'll actually remember it.

Are we talking 2k21 in here too? Thought we combined last season.

Why is it on sale already for under $20? Is it worse than usual? Anybody playing yet?

Or is it just PS4/X1 versions? Yeah looks like the next gen ones are still $70+

Ok moved 2k discussion

Thanks for setting the draft up, gamerparent. What's the deadline to set our rosters in this league?

I think it's daily? before they start playing?

I would just go and set the first week now, and then see.

Holy sh*t the basketball started TONIGHT?!?!

Huh? I thought it was on Christmas.

Nope, two games tonight, most teams starting tomorrow.

As I predicted it looks like Harden is set to take the entire league down with him.

Thankfully the league stepped in and canceled the game. Who knows how many more they’ll have to cancel.

The Clippers lost by 51 points today after being down by 50 at halftime. No commentary, just wow.

51 point loss, not 71. Still a real stinker.

A lot of unusual outcomes today actually. Kyrie and KD scored a ton but the Nets still lost to my Hornets. The Sixers lost pretty big to Cleveland, and the Knicks beat the Bucks by 20.

I think I miss the bubble.

Games every day, every 3 hours, all afternoon and evening. That was good sh*t.

I had the games on in the background Fri but couldn't really get into it.

Oops. Yes. Thanks for the correction.

I wasn't into the bubble until the playoffs started.

I watched a quarter of Raptors-Pels and half of Raptors-Spurs but the regular season just doesn't matter. Any random game has little stakes.

Though the Raptors could be headed to a disaster season if they don't start finding a way to score in the half court. COVID + playing away from home all season + younger players not making a big improvement... Things could get bad pretty quickly.

I got Coach Nick Nurse's book for Christmas, it is a very interesting read. That, and We The North by Doug Smith. My wife knows me well.

Been a long time since I was this excited about our Hornets, and oddly the bench is the best part right now, which creates this odd "this is only gonna get better" feeling at the front of the games. They've got some spark with this lineup, really hoping injuries, COVID and/or Jordan don't step in and screw it up too soon.

COVID-19 sure has done a number on my already piss-poor fantasy team. A good portion of my team is Rockets and Thunder, they missed their first game. Now Michael Porter Jr. is out for contact tracing.

Is ESPN going to bury Lowe’s articles behind their paywall all season? I don’t remember them doing that at the start of previous seasons.

It’s new. Both Lowe and Barnwell’s (NFL) stuff has been stuck behind ESPN+. The best solution is to look at Lowe’s Muck Rack page and look for ESPN.au. For some reason Australian ESPN doesn’t have a paywall and occasionally an article will appear there a few days later.

Heres an example.

It’s made me glad my wife ponied up for Hulu/Disney/ESPN+

Same here. Lowe’s columns being placed behind the paywall is what finally convinced me to go with the bundle. Well played, ESPN.

I would have gone for that bundle if I didn't already do the prepaid three years on Disney+ and I could get the commercial free Hulu. Oh well... thanks for the tip Vector, I will check that out.

Do you guys recommend any basketball podcasts? I listen to the Lowe Post and Book of Basketball right now, but they are infrequent enough that I am looking for something else to supplement.
