Wellactually, the rabbit hole led me to Otto Graham, who played for the Browns (the Browns!) for 10 seasons and led the Browns (THE BROWNS!!!!) to a league title game in all 10 season. Graham also holds pro football's Y/A record (of 9.0, which is half-yard better than Mahomes.) Dude also has seven rings, which is half-a-hand more than Montana.
But then Baker Mayfield threw four TD passes in the first half of Sunday's game to tie Graham's 69-year-old team record. So I guess Mayfield is the GOAT now?

Hard to believe that Carolina and Denver played in the Super Bowl five years ago, when they were clearly the two best teams in their conference.
Today, they're a pair of 4-8 teams playing each other in what has to be the worst half of football I've watched all season.
Denver scored twice - once on a punt-return TD (and then doinked the XP) and then on a short TD pass because Carolina extended Denver drives with not one but TWO personal foul penalties.
Carolina's only TD came after a two-yard drive (after a sack and scoop return). Otherwise, Carolina's offense has managed just 88 yards.
Also: Teddy B is broken. His throws are off. His decisions are off. And he just took a 16-yard sack because instead of trying to run away from or duck an unblocked guy he tried to backpedal while looking for someone to throw it to.

The Steelers finally lost.
Apart from WTF/WFT not being as bad as suggested, it was a brutal week for us on injuries. Our O still needs to work out some kinks, but more importantly our D might not able to carry them any more until they figure out how to do anything besides throw the ball short.
We ran out of CBs and LBs last week, as well as being down our kicker. Avery Williamson, who we just got from the Jets (the Jets!) at the trade deadline for a 7th, was and will be wearing the green dot, and Justin Layne had to move over from special teams to play CB. They did... fine, but I think our safeties provided more help, which meant our run d suffered.
Our O is healthier this week, but our D is still in rough shape. I'm not even sure what we're doing for our second ILB, probably a rotation of depth players.
D Starters out for the year: Devin Bush(LB), Bud Dupree(LB), Robert Spillane (LB)
D Starters out for now: Vince Williams(LB), Joe Haden(CB)
Back this week: Stephen Nelson(CB)

I partly take that back. The second half of DEN/CAR ended up being entertaining, and Bridgewater came alive. His throws were sharp. His decisions were better. He made a few intermediate 10-15 yard throws that make Carolina so dangerous.
And then crunch time happened.
Teddy took a delay of game (!) on third and goal, then threw short of the end zone on the next play. FG wasn't an awful outcome but a TD would have been much better.
The two teams trade TDs. Carolina gets the ball down 5 with 2:48 left.
First down: Teddy takes a sack.
Second down: Teddy throws short-ish on 2nd and 16. OK gain considering you have two plays sted one to get a first down.
Third down: Teddy rushes a play on 3rd and 8 to beat the 2-minute warning. Tosses the ball over his (covered) receiver's head. Ugly play.
Fourth down: Teddy throws a quick out route that's seven yards short of the sticks. Play has no chance. Ballgame.
Teddy isn't the entire problem. OC Joe Brady seems in over his head, too. Anyone who mentions that he should be hired as a HC next season doesn't know what he's talking about.

You can say that again. Panthers let Denver score their 2nd highest points of the season, and only the 3rd time they've scored 28 or more points all season.
Denver's offense is bad. The ugly first half you described above was good for them.

For Carolina, it's LB Shaq Thompson, LS JJ Jansen, S Tre Boston (who was later cut by the Panthers and re-signed last year) and C Matt Paradis (who played for Denver that season). DT Kawann Short played in that SB but is on IR this year and probably didn't count toward the six.
And looking at Carolina's roster from that season, I see a few guys on other teams, but most of them are out of the league. NFL = Not For Long

I just looked at Drew Lock's stats; before today, he'd thrown 9 TD, 13 picks. Today? 4 TDs, no picks.
Maybe the Panthers need to go back to drafting five defensive tackles every draft. They had a good defense back when they did that.
The funniest thing I've seen all weekend is the Saints down by 3 and Tayson Hill getting strip-sacked on 4th and 2.

If they manage that Rodgers might sneak up and overpass Mahomes for MVP even. Was going to be hard if Mahomes finished at 2 picks but Miami helped that part today. Mahomes still dominating in total yards. Hard to even argue against Mahomes but Rodgers might get the old man sympathy vote.
