Games & major life changes:
Back in 2007, I was 8 years into the rat race -- I was working at my third corporate law firm and hating it. I had a particularly nasty boss, though they're not hard to find in corporate law firms. I decided I had to leave but had this epiphany that I couldn't keep working in corporate law anymore. Against all the advice of my parents, colleagues and recruitment agents, I decided to look for a job in the public service. I found a legal job that was quite obscure but looked interesting, got it, then served my notice.
In the couple of weeks I had between jobs, I played God of War. I holed up with my PS2 and pounded through both 1 and 2. Kratos' rage and brutality, ripping the heads off beasties and yelling all the time, was cathartic. I really think it helped me process all my frustration, anxiety and other negative feelings about the sh*tshow I'd just been in, and cleanse my mental palate so I could start my new career with less baggage. Not to mention the symbolism of the part where Kratos climbs his way out of Hades with all these rotating blades and disembodied arms trying to drag him back down. It's also probably why I am still a God of War fanboy. I can recognise that early Kratos was very one-note -- it's just a note that really resonated with me for the headspace I was in.

Also, FWIW, I reckon the 'cast is really humming along these days. There's good rapport between panellists, whether it's a mix of older and newer hosts or whatever and I enjoy the banter and silly jokes. Keep up the good work!

FUSER ‘nuff said
I’m also very forgetful when it comes to important things. My brain isn’t filled with video game tidbits, though. For me it’s music facts; both in the sense of pop music and playing music. For instance, I can play the major scale of any key on several different instruments, which is useful, but I can also tell you the titles of GWAR’s first three albums despite the fact that I’ve never owned a GWAR record. hell-o, scumdogs of the universe, america must be destroyed
I only just now learned of FUSER from the podcast. It wasn’t on my radar at all. I have a few obligations that I need to fulfill before I can allow myself to dig into that game, though. #adulting
If I had a robotic hand like Luke and Vader I could keep playing bass until I passed out.

Thanks for the podcast as always. Games and major life changes really sparked something in me. I had never realised but my purchase of each iteration of the PlayStation has marked a big swing in my life.
I bought a PlayStation One for going to University, A PlayStation 2 when I moved back to my folks having decided not to continue in academia, I bought a PlayStation 3 when I moved to the other end of the U.K for a Job and a PlayStation 4 just before the birth of my first child as a last goodbye to disposable income (fortunately its still going!)
I am trying to figure out if I buy the console to help me transition to a new phase or if its just a function of how often you see big changes!
My wife an I ae also considering a move back to Scotland so a PS5 may yet continue the trend.
