[Discussion] Welcome to the Biden Administration!

Pages

Anything related to Biden and his upcoming administration. May this thread be less active and controversial as that last guys thread.

And yes, that is a Hamilton reference.

Well this didn't take long.

I’m looking forward to this thread being filled with boring, competent appointments, successful court defenses, and eventually a low-key, socially-distant inauguration.

If the transition team he and Harris have been assembling is any indication, we have plenty of reason to be excited about the eventual Cabinet appointments and the impact they will have on course-correcting some of our now-highly-troubled agencies.

For boredom!
And maybe some competence too.

I hope that this thread will alert me whenever Biden's administration rollsback something that the current administration had enacted.

I hope the Supreme Court denies hearing any election B.S., but I doubt it will.

I think yall are gonna be disappointed if you expect a lot of progressives on the cabinet. You may get one or two, but he may also see having Kamala as his VP as the only real concession he'll make.

The blue wave didn't come and progressives got a bit of a smack down. Biden will likely run WAY more to the middle than most around here will be happy with, which is why so many were upset when he got the nom.

The blue wave came, it was just met with a red wave coming from the opposite direction. Both candidates had record turnouts.

But yeah, I don’t expect anything from Biden, even in the unlikely event that the runoffs can flip the Senate.

Glad we've pulled back from the edge of a cliff but realize that I will have to spend the rest of my life working to wrestle the democratic party from the center to a progressive party. I threw the dice and joined after 2016 so I could participate in primaries.

Interestingly, we are moving to Newport, OR this month, and that county went blue this year for at least the presidential race. I had thought it might be red. I'm excited to get involved in the community for the rest of my life. I already know where the democratic party headquarters is.

Biden looks like he's ten years younger than he was last night.

I’m just going to enjoy the fact that we have a person who exudes decency as the leader of the country. I know many are already assuming his presidency will be a failure but I’m just happy Trump is gone and I look forward to the Biden-Harris presidency.

I was able to watch the victory speeches tonight and one of my first thoughts when Biden came jogging out was that he looked really, really young for his age.

I also had the thought after the speeches that it is the first time in four years that I have been able to watch a presidential speech. I am looking forward to having a president again.

I know we're in the throes of celebration, but a sex pest that likes to handle and sniff women's hair is not someone who exudes decency. He's definitely better than what was before, but that bar was really, really low. At least there's still some hope with the new administration.

Whew.

I like how he's putting Kamala in the spotlight (introduction, referring to the Biden-Harris ticket), in addition to him acknowledging that he sees himself as a transitionary figure.

Good auspices that this guy gets what good succession planning looks like. Looks like he's going to always be keeping an eye on building her up and getting her ready for the next step.

Combine that with how he rolled under Obama and this guy is just such a team player.

It will be so nice having Steve Rogers as President and no more Thanos.

Ugh, don't get me started on that Avengers parody video that was going around yesterday.

Full sentences, compassion, empathy, and intelligence on display this evening.

I liked the RotJ celebration one today.

All right, I'm started:

Greta Thunberg wouldn't fly in as Elon Musk's sidekick

I can't tell what's more insulting to Beto O'Rorke: being likened to Chris Pratt or being likened to Star Lord

And Sean Connery? WTF does a Scottish separatist who lived in Nassau got to do with American elections?

I think we can do better on the thread image, iso.

Or

Hell of a speech from a senile, "sleepy Joe".

Tremendous!

Dude's been mainlining adrenochrome since Tuesday night!

Big ups to Biden's speechwriting team, though. They came out swinging hard against Trump's inability to take the 'L' like an adult and found a good way to say what had to be said at this moment in time. I can't wait for Trump's 3 AM all cap rage tweets.

Our new President the sex pest who barely clears the Trump bar. I forgot that we have another disgusting pervert in charge.

Well there goes my hope and optimism.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Biden's behavior, being too touchy feely seemingly regardless of gender in some cases, for which he has apologized and promised to try and do better, isn't even remotely comparable to the multitude of documented actions by Trump, let alone the accusations against him.

Biden should and must be better, and hopefully he will be. We can still be happy that the serial rapist (amongst many other things) is out of the White House.

We're already setting a tone for a very low bar for Biden. There's a ton to be done, obstacles be damned. Ive been looking at his plans here and picked a few slices out I'd like to hold him to.

Imposing a 15% minimum tax on book income so that no corporation gets away with paying no taxes.
In the first 100 days, a Biden Administration will:

Immediately reverse the Trump Administration’s cruel and senseless policies that separate parents from their children at our border

End prolonged detention and reinvest in a case management program

And his Covid plan is essential.

What I didn't see is much in the way of codifying the 'norms' the cheeto walked all over and undoing the damage done to agencies like the CDC.

A lot of that would have to be changed by law, which is up to congress mostly.
