NFL 2020: Week 7

Guess the Panthers don't need DBs.

On Monday, Carolina cut a practice squad CB because he went to a Covid party (ie he was filmed dancing at a crowded Charlotte restaurant w/o a mask on)

Today, the Panthers fired Eli Apple, who played nearly as many snaps for Carolina this year as I did.

I know there was a reason he was available in the offseason, but, man, he must be supersorry.

Eli Apple is bad.

The back to back top 10 picks of Ereck Flowers and Eli Apple by the Giants is one of the worst uses of draft capital in recent memory.

I present to you... the New York Jets.

I think Trevor Lawrence noticed this too.

It's cool Trevor, the Jets will still be there for you.

Mayfield was the league's worst quarterback in the first quarter, going 0-for-5 with an interception. He was first by a mile in DYAR after that. He was also the DYAR leader in the red zone (completing all five of his passes for 44 yards and four touchdowns) and on throws to tight ends (6-of-8 for 76 yards and three touchdowns to Harrison Bryant and David Njoku).

Will the real Baker Mayfield please stand up? Terrible 1st quarter followed by ELITE production, including to his TEs!

He's gonna do just well enough occasionally to get a second contract, isn't he?

He's like, what, 3rd best QB in post-merger Browns history? It's Kosar, Brian Sipe, and then who?

JFF

Spoiler:

Probably Couch

Hmm. I have a soft spot for Couch, and I think his shoulder injury robbed him of his career. But unless Mayfield fully reverts back to 2019 Mayfield, I think Mayfield is taking that #3 spot.

Before you all sh!t on me like I'm GWJ's version of Adam Gase, the Week 8 thread won't drop until Thursday. I'm still on deadline with my dumb day job, and my dinner's getting cold.

Absolutely unacceptable.

We're cool with it. All we expect is acknowledgement, not shadow dropping halfway through the 3rd quarter.

It's the Week 8 thread, and thanks for your patience.
