One thing I've hit a couple of times is a anemoculus or geoculus that is higher than I can reach. This seems to happen when there are no nearby higher elevations to glide down from, which makes me think I am missing some mechanic that would allow me to jump higher or climb. None of the characters I've pulled seem to have any abilities like that, tho.

So, have you encountered the world puzzle type where you collect a few little wind bugs and then they create updrafts? Every time I've found something I couldn't climb, glide, or otherwise reach, there has been a nearby puzzle to unlock access in some form or another, but the easiest to miss for sure have been those little wind bugs since they are small and almost look like ambient decoration until you run into them and pick them up.

That said, I've also been able to just cheat on a few using Venti's air gust, but you need to have had silly good gacha luck to have that option.

Spoiler:

if you're already collecting geoculus items and are at AR 25 I'm guessing you've tried the earth attuned version of the Traveller, right? Not that I've found a ton of places where it would be required, but I'm assuming there will be puzzles that expect you to use the platform creation ability you get as your main elemental attack in earth form.

Just to add on to what Zero said, when you get to the second Statue of the 7 (the one next to the big tree), there’s an area right on the other side of the water that surrounds it that has 3 of those bugs. I apparently wasn’t paying attention too much when I found them the first time on mobile, but my second time playing through on PS4, I realized Paimon makes a comment about their wind column creation properties.

Discovered mechanic (not story) spoiler:

Spoiler:

Basically, if you run over to one, it will follow you. Run to the second to add it to your entourage and then over to the first. As soon as you bring them all together, they merge and create a wind column for you.

I don’t think it shows you a tutorial pop-up when this happens. So, until you find the bugs and if you’re not paying attention, it can be easily missed.

Ah. Ah, I see.

Spoiler:

Yeah, all of them were in the southern region. I'd seen a few things with pressure plates that needed more than one person, but I'd worked around those with Amber and her bunny doll! I had not switched the Traveler back to Geo attuned after the initial one, because I like using the air attack on camps.

That is what I am missing. I knew there had to be some basic thing I was not seeing, because surely they couldn't hide in-game items behind things that could only be solved by some characters acquired through random luck!

Yeah, I mean that's totally understandable --

Spoiler:

even though the earth mode is a fun, creative alternative, and potentially good in certain contexts, in general the wind mode is stronger and more versatile.

Started this yesterday. Damn, it is pretty good. Both excelling at exploration and what seems to be a combat system with potential.
