As much as I'd love to see them stay, they um, aren't showing signs of life.

No. All of the notable "new arrivals" are just players we had on Loan last year. Didn't want to repeat the free-spending debacle of the last time we got promoted.

But yeah, we look completely out of our depths right now.

Fingers crossed that they can reverse their fortunes. Seems like they could have spent 30-40 million more and beefed up some weak spots. Maybe in the winter transfer.

Diogo Jota from the bench is just unfair.

Arsenal need to cash in 3 VAR hand balls please.

Convincing from Liverpool (yes I know I'm bias) but that Lacazette goal came from a complete Liverpool error and it stung them into action. An immediate and telling response. Nice goal there from Jota on his debut.

My first thought when the Reed sale was announced was "Great for him!" followed almost immediately by "oh, how f*cked are Fulham?"

When the Lemina loan was announced, "oh, right f*cked then!"

Sorry Pred. Hope I'm wrong and the ginger and glass-ankled midfielder duo keep you up.

By having all your players suffer heart attacks after playing a match away at Wigan?

In case you haven't seen it, there's matchday menus.

Ademola Lookman on loan to Fulham.

Tons of talent, but really struggled with his attitude under us (granted, during a time the team as a whole was struggling, and we were rotating through managers).

Not sure he'll be good in a relegation fight, but hope he does well for you all.

Meanwhile the grueling schedule means we are out Kenny, Allan, and Richarlison, after the cup game against West Ham.

It speaks volumes about how important Allan is for us already that he's the one I'm most concerned about losing for any length of time (though Richy has really stepped up this season, and is also putting in defensive work, which is great to see).

Meanwhile I'm overjoyed that DCL is having a great start to the season - love that kid. I'm less happy that he's gotten a call up to the England squad, since international play is always an injury risk, even when a season is less compressed than this year's, but glad he's getting recognition. (Just hope he returns to Goodison without picking up any injuries).

When Diego Costa was asked about having Suarez in his team: "He can bite, I can kick."

Oh no.

There were quite a few Liverpool players not even in the squad against Arsenal for the league cup last week. I'm sure it's not just Mane, Tsimikas and Thiago that have this problem unfortunately.

It really does speak to how shockingly infectious it is though. Like, you can be genuinely trying to observe the necessary stuff and get it.

Well - yes and no. Of all the things the you could be doing right now to try and limit your chances of getting the virus, being a member of a professional sports team is pretty far down on the list to be honest.

I'm not that surprised, and judging from the time line, it looks like Thiago bought it with him from Germany unfortunately. That or Tsimikas from Greece. It's definitely one of those two.

Yeah, these dudes are still jumping all over each other every time there's a goal, etc. I think they're following testing protocols, but they have families who may or may not be. Even the NBA went total bubble, and damn Danuel House violated it to get some tail and destroy his family.

...I'm not bitter...

Leeds-Man City is the first match I've been excited for in a while.

Of course me being excited means Man City will probably win in a blow-out but I'll take what I can get.

Looking like that Rodriguez kid was a good choice.

Excuse me, I have to go memory hole my James skepticism posts...

Leeds - Man City game was fun.

Lads, it's Spurs?

The fact that it's Jose doing this is my favourite thing.

That is delicious, isn't it? We would have beaten them at the end of last season were it not for, believe it or not, a soft penalty near the end of the game. Shocker, I know.

Our newfound squad depth is wonderful and we have a RB controversy, at a minimum. Doherty was bought to start, and Aurier looked to possibly transfer, but now it seems like he's really challenging for the starting role.

Just over a year ago they were saying we needed a painful rebuild, but it has been an absolute pleasure to watch.

Come On You Spurs!

Pochettino at Man U before the end of the month I reckon.

And it was never a Red Card. But still. Absolutely woeful from Man U.

It was soft, but it's hard to feel sorry for the team that gets the most undeserved penalties by a mile.

I hope Poch doesn't go there. I want to cheer for him wherever he goes next.

What in the name of god is going on?!?!?

Villa are SEVEN - 2 up against Liverpool. I....... what?!?

1963 the last time Liverpool gave up 7.

They were pretty sound and in control vs Arsenal.

Looks like we are in for a roller coaster EPL season even without the VAR and hand ball funkyness. This is going to be fun.

WHAT

Okay, so nothing's going to make sense this season. Got it.

EDIT: Other than Fulham being terrible, apparently.

Liverpool fans were so looking forward to bumping into United fans tomorrow and now... not so much.

Maybe they can commiserate? Or argue about who did better on aggregate?

EDIT: Okay, some of the hubris on show here is delightful.

I think both teams have been a little complacent of late but longer term, issues at Man U are significantly worse than at Liverpool. but then I would say that wouldn't I?

A wake up call. One I rather think Liverpool needed

What a great weekend of football.

I wonder if COVID and the short layoff means we'll see a lot of weird results this season.
