Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Catch All

Official announcement in 2 days.

2021 simulator?

I like the part where they removed the clip of Tienanmen Square because the CCP got mad.

The communists actually won the Cold War I guess... by becoming capitalist so nobody can afford to piss them off and lose their business.

Looks like this year will continue my "Should I finally get on the CoD train? Nope I'm good" streak.

Multiplayer announcement on 9/9

That was an awesome Battlefield trailer! oh wait...

Kidding aside, so how will this fit in with Warzone? Weapons, vehicles, cosmetics will show up in Warzone and the maps etc we just saw in this trailer are part of Black Ops Cold War Ground War mode?

Found some info here

What we saw in the video is their new Combined Arms mode (their version of Ground War).

Big thing to point out is that this is the first CoD game that's Cross-Play, Cross-Progression, Cross-Generation.

It looks like everything is coming over, but the big question is how. Especially with Warzone.

Have they said if they're going to keep the "buy your pre-configured weapon" option in Warzone? I was a big non-fan of that particular mechanic; it took too much of the fun out of scavenging and made the rounds more samey.

Battlepass is still going to be a thing so i think that stays the same. There were none of the pre-configured weapons that were configured worth a damn. It was just for the skins.

I realized that you were talking about the loadout mechanic in WZ. No details yet on WZ changes yet. The removal of the tactical sprint is already going to be a big change in WZ. Guess we'll find out more after they show off their zombie mode.

Is there a hard release date for this? I'm trying to get hype about which games I will get for my Series X.

11/13 is the release.

My thoughts on watching this on the PS stream:

1)

2)

3)
JOHN WICK STUFF

4)

for you ps4 folks...

First day buy - and this is coming from someone down on CoD for years and preferred the BF franchise. Warzone is great and with all the features, maps, guns, cosmetics, modes etc, Dice has a big job ahead of them.

Has anyone tried the beta? If so, thoughts?

This has been a weird one for me. I of course started watching the PS4 streams the previous weeks, and to be honest wasn't overly impressed with what i saw.

Jumping into it myself i found the graphical fidelity (rtx2080) was vastly improved and everything looked good and the animations were smooth. The sliding mechanic was at times fun to use and annoying to fight against. There's attachments that allow you to boost your sliding speed and some folks went all in on those felt like they would teleport or lag jump. So i'm not happy with that. It needs to be toned down.

As standard for the series the guns we got to play with were a mix bag. SMGs still feel to be king for Multiplayer and the MP5 being the winner for me. There were some surprises. Their Uzi equivalent (can't remember the game name for it) was also very strong. Also their version of the AK74 has drastically reduced recoil compared to other versions and even some of the other ARs we had access to. It's actually my #2 favorite with what we had available. All weapons at a minimum were just 'ok' at the start without attachments. With 2x xp boost going leveling them up was easy until they unlocked everything for us. Still some of them were (for me) just bad when going up against others. Once they had attachments on them they were serviceable, but felt some were more dominant than others.

2nd day of the open beta they maxed out the levels on all the weapons so we could try out all the different attachments for them.

The shotguns we had access to were pretty strong. They're the standard Treyarch versions and are part of your secondary selection along with pistols and launchers.

My biggest complaint over all is that while everything looks better than it does on consoles the visibility of characters has been greatly reduced compared to previous version. The skins blended into the scenery way too much and it was hard to see them quickly. Also it seems they're going to allow us to have the same skins on our operators for either side that you play on so you have to rely on the blue/red markers to pick your targets.

So i'm excited for the game. With the Zombie mode and campaign it's going to give me a lot to play with over the year. I'm just not super excited like i was with MW last year.

Some of that also is that we still have no clue how they're tying this all into Warzone.

Good stuff, thanks Ranalin! I am hoping the larger game modes with vehicles are good and the Zombies mode is fun. Also wonder what they are doing with Warzone and how that will work!

As far as I'm aware it just sounds like warzone will be keeping all the same mecahnics and gun play and get BO cosmetics.
The new zombie Royale mode is so much fun once you realise how to play the zombies (you can't just head on charge folks). I've just won a game pretty much by myself (two random team mates dropped out within the first couple of mins). All about stalking the gas and picking off players or just getting veils in safer areas. The last circles are nuts though.

That's all we know. We don't know the what or how yet.

For example how do they integrate the new perks and the ones that are duplicated between games?
Same for guns what do they do with the AK or MP5 which are duplicated?

Yikes. This was bad enough for me on the current release. I finally learned the tip of colorblind options in the menu to make enemies names appear more visible - anything like that in the options?

Cool trailer!

That trailer had what looked like some High 80's settings and some Vietnam stuff. Since it's titled Cold War, will the maps/scenarios cover the full time period? Like Berlin Airlift, Korea, Hungary, Sputnik, Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile, Munich 72, Yom Kippur, Afghanistan, Sandinistas, Grenada, N Ireland, etc?

Yeah lot's of areas to choose from! I just hope the larger modes have large maps and not condensed fighting. Hoping for a Battlefield-esque map perhaps? Really a big opportunity for Activision if they pull more BF players into it.

Combining old school prestige with MW's prestige systems.

25+ Prestige Levels to conquer across all Seasons (including the period between launch and Season One), instead of only 10 Prestiges to earn.

Six Prestige Master titles to earn by reaching level 200 in each Season, rather than only one opportunity throughout the entire game.

1000 levels to climb in each Season, for when Prestige Master isn’t enough of a challenge.

Milestone rewards to earn at every 50 Season Levels.

For the first time, keep all of your Create-a-Class content after you Prestige.
