Transformers: War for Cybertron (Netflix)

Anybody checked this out yet? So far it's pretty good, lots of familiar transformers. The only bummer so far is Soundwave's weird voice.

I was just about to check the Netflix thread for info on this! Really curious to see what people think, and looking forward to watching it.

I am curious as how does optimus and megatron sound....

They sound ok, not perfect. Some of the voices sound similar. Starscream, of course, sounds like a whiney annoyance.

Alita 1 has a prominent role, Ultra Magnus so far is the war weary veteran of the war. Jetfire is a Decepticon, but with blue eyes and a Decepticon symbol. Of course watching this I was like "Decepticon? With blue eyes?"

It is amazing few Autobots there are. Wheejack, Hound, something that looks like it could be Ironhide. Ratchet and Bumblebee being unaffiliated, as is what looks like Omega Supreme.

However different it is, it is an enjoyable watch.

And where is the series leading to?

Season 2 and 3 ?

lol i mean... will it connect to G1?

I like the aesthetics but Optimus is both weak and a fairly bad leader.

All in all I enjoyed it and I'm interested in seeing where it goes for additional seasons.

I finished this a few days ago and had a great time. Like I said somewhere else, I love the character designs, and while it is true there are not a lot of characters, I like how more and more pop up as the season goes on. Regarding the voices, most of my TF knowledge comes from the Marvel comic book series from the 80s, and then IDW's More Than Meets the Eye/Lost Light series and the two Cybertron games, so I did not have a problem with any of them. If anything, I was surprised I could understand Soundwave as well as I did! All in all, I had a great time and I am looking forward to the next season.

Yeah, I may not remember correctly but the Allspark was in the comics(?) I remember watching the show and reading the comics in the 80s being confused with Optimus Prime being in a computer screen and seemed confused alot. The odd Jetfire as a Decepticon but with blue eyes, I guess that's just the writers showing their hands?

I'm not entirely sure where the Allspark originated, but they definitely talk about it in the comic books, at least the most recent ones. As for Jetfire, I never read anything with him as a Decepticon, but I somehow knew he used to be a Decepticon that switched sides at some point, even though I never knew when or why, so when he shows up in the show leading the Seekers, I was like "Oh, cool, I guess we'll see him switching sides," which they pretty much start hinting at the minute he appears.

I think they should have switched it up a bit and had some of the traditional deceptions types as autobots. Like having a few of the seeker model jets as autobots since there were so many of them. On the other hand if the entire model was enslaved by autobots then I guess it would be natural that none of them were autobots.

I like how Megatron is more calm in the show so far, and doesn't scream alot like in the old G1 series. I wonder if Starscream will be abused in the show, he's already had his arm cut off. I remember him being the character you sometimes just wanted to smack.

Saw the first episode and enjoyed it, but it will be take some patience on my part. Every line of dialogue (especially Optimus Prime) feels over the top.

I think I haven't seen a cartoony cartoon in a while, so maybe I just need to ease into it.

I loved how James Roberts portrayed Megatron in the More Than Meets the Eye comic. If you want a calm, collected Megatron, check out the series.

Sometimes? Try all the time!

I think the dialogue sounds like the actors recorded their lines separately, and they don't know how to react to a one sided conversation.
