GWJ Strategy Gaming Group: Now Playing Cities: Skylines

Some interesting games here if anyone is interested. All games have demos on Steam right now

Hi all,

We have about two weeks left before April and I figured I would kick off voting for the next game. Please list up to 5 games that you would be interested in by Monday, March 20 at midnight PST. We will then start first round voting.

Here are my picks:

Total War: Three Kingdoms
Company of Heroes 2
Stellaris
Northgard
Warhammer 40K: Gladius

Total War: Warhammer 2
Stellaris
Fantasy General 2
Company of Heroes 2
RimWorld (if it counts)

40k Gladius is free on the Epic store this week, so everyone go snag that!

My votes:
40k Gladius (gonna be playing it anyway)
Invisible Inc (this stays on my list until the rest of y'all damn well vote for it!)
Pathway (also probably in your Epic library cos freebies)
Shadowrun: Hong Kong (been meaning to try this one out)
Total War: Warhammer 2

Currently having great fun in Company of Heroes 3.

My votes:

Warhammer 40K: Gladius
Stellaris
Homeworld: Deserts of Karack
Civ VI
Cities: Skylines

I’m seeing in other club threads that they are trying to hurry up voting to take advantage of Steam spring sale. What do you guys think? If I get a motion and second to speed run selection, I’ll skip to first round voting.

FYI the sale ends on March 23 so we have a few days.

Motion or second or whatever, I don't know how this works!

Alpha Centauri
Civilization VI
Fantasy General 2
Heroes of Might & Magic III
Invisible, Inc.

I just realized I didn’t explain it well. As moderator I didn’t want to be the first motion.

So now we have a motion. If we get a second, I’ll kick off first round this evening when I get off work.

second

I’m up for speeding things up. Then I’m not alone in panicking to get it all done in time!

Thanks Jonman and tboon! I’ll open first round voting around 5 pm PST so please get any last minute nominations in ASAP.

I've played Old World to the point that I wanted to; I'll pick it up again later. Us ADHD types are at a definite disadvantage with having to focus on something long term.

I like the suggestion of Cities Skylines, especially since with around 2/3 of the DLC (or more) it's got real depth and very interesting, interlocking mechanics. But the downside is the cost of all that DLC. So folks who don't have it, if that's what we go with, consider getting it via streaming. Vanilla will just leave you wanting more, and the sequel is coming out hopefully this year, so... Maybe that one is best for those of us who have already invested in it, as a "last hurrah" for this version?

Of course, I see a ton of us have bought it, so maybe my concern is misplaced.

Cities Skylines is one I’d very much be down to play - it was either that or RimWorld for my “does this qualify” nomination. I have the base game and almost all the DLC through various humble bundles over the year, but never got around to actually playing it because that what humble bundles are for.

And epic has given it away for free somewhat recently, so people may have it from there as well.

Oh, I'm up for it. Just didn't want it to get popular and then people realized they missed the sale and...

I've a few suggestions:

Total War: Three Kingdoms - I'm in the middle of a Vampire Coast Immortal Empires run, but don't want to burn out on TW:WH before the Chaos Dwarves drop next month, but still feel like some TW action

Pharaoh a New Era - started a campaign, would love some company

Civ VI - I feel like the zombie apocalypse mode needs further investigation

Warhammer 40K: Gladius - on a stupid discount (90%) in the Steam sale and looks interesting. Would like some guidance on DLCs, though.

100% discount in the Epic Store this week!

Ok that’s the cutoff for nominations! I wasn’t able to collate things since well it’s St Paddy’s Day, but I’ll have a list for first round of voting in the morning.

Ladies and gentlemen, here are your nominations:

Civilization VI
Company of Heroes 2
