Documentation on this seems scant, but the game truly feels like the makings of a gem. Since it's about half way through early access roadmap it's not quite finished. The details on what is and isn't finished are lacking, which can lead to frustrations. However, it is really a labour of love for some very gifted people.
I've grabbed it, played for just a little while, and then when they released the last big content patch the prior saves were no longer compatible. Because of that I'll probably just wait until it's complete to dive into it. It definitely has an interesting setting and the way they handle classes is also fairly unique from my experience. It feels a lot like some low budget eastern european rpg's I've played in the past. Should be interesting.

Other than the fact that it's far from finished, I'd disagree with this statement. I haven't played an isometric RPG that felt this good to play in a long time. If the original Fallout was made today, I imagine it would look and feel very similar to what this game is. The only thing missing is voice overs, which I actually appreciate, even though I recognize I may be in a minority on that one. However, I like their art-style for story telling, which important conversations get pulled into. It adds uniqueness and flair to the game.
Next to this game I also own "Atom RPG" which is complete, yet totally feels "like some low budget eastern european rpg." One of the reasons why I have a hard time finishing it.
How does this feel compared to Wasteland 2, Divinity: Original Sin 2, or Pillars of Eternity? Those are kind of the current gold standard for isometric RPGs.
Wasteland 2 was kind of OK. A little light on content. Good presentation. But it pissed me off irreparably with it binary choice of saving one town or the other, with no hidden or easter egg possibility of saving both. I never played it past that choice.
PoE, while again having nice presentation, suffered from a similar choice. Without any warning, I had to choose which faction will become irreversibly hostile to me, when I was playing it down the middle as diplomatic character. This resulted in all my good will with one faction being lost, and the other faction not being as well developed as it should have been, had I known I'll have to make this choice. Never played it far past that choice.
D:OS2 is a strange beast. It is clearly a very good game. It's also has a noticeable cauterized wound in its core mechanics that constantly left me feeling like I'm missing something. If there is a fault to this game, it's that it is too big. None of these negatives in any way pale the fact that this is the king of the current generation of RPGs.
Encased feels... I dunno. Smaller. More intimate. But feeling just right. Where D:OS2 is a massive 60k people concert in a booming arena with lights and fireworks and everything... Encased is more of an acoustic performance in a small seedy bar. If that comparison seems unfavourable, think of it this way... Which way would you rather experience Bob Dylan, or Adele, or any number of wordsmiths or vocalists? That is not to say that there aren't acts that are absolutely made for monster arenas and massive shows. To each thier own. It's just that Encased feels to me like that intimate performance by a skillful artist that is just pouring love into their craft.

They just released content pack 3 which is supposed to be the last one before exiting early access. They are having 20% off sale as a consequence. If you haven't already, this may be a good time to check out this game.
This is now looking like a complete game and worth a closest inspection. Haven’t played this genre for almost a year since wasteland 3 came out so very interested and the premise looks quite unique. Anyone playing?
Saw this and then saw I posted a video of it - but I had no memory of it. I thought maybe I was getting forgetful but it was 2 years ago!
Glad it turned out well
Put 30 hours into this last month but started getting a bit disinterested as there are some flaws and I wasn't really sure where to go next. I also lost at least one companion.
The skill system is good but not explained, you cannot level up your companions and some of the descriptions seem to differ between the skill screen and the use screen.
Might have another go as I haven't picked a game up since.
This game seriously has it's roadside picnic hooks in me. It's one of those games with fascinating character build possibilitys and skill checks at every turn.

I've been following Encased and the next time it drops in price I'll probably grab it.

This is on my wishlist, but some of the reviews stayed my head when I was looking to purchase. Now my plate is a bit full.

Been following it but won't be seriously paying attention until it's closer to release. Looks really cool, though.

Any way to speed up this game? I feel like moving in the world feels like molasses. Anything you do takes a long time to do.
