Advice for virtual trivia night for the technophobic?

So a friend just proposed a virtual trivia night tonight for multiple couples, using Trivial pursuit rules and any trivia type questions anyone has available in their homes. It was proposed to use Zoom, but no one was aware of the 40 minute limit.
Any suggestions on the best way to go about this? As GWJ knows, its not encouraging that I'm the most tech savvy person in the group.

if you're only using the tech to see and talk to each other, would Google Hangouts or Skype work? How many couples would be playing?

Four or five households. and yes, we would need it for talking to each other, seeing the game board (occasionally). Seeing each other is a bonus

Then I think either of those solutions would work, or FaceTime if you're all on Apple devices. Ideally you could set up a separate device with a camera focused on the game board so you don't have to move your camera every time you want to show it.

Google Duo works on both Android and iPhone. And it just assigns to the number on iOS, you don't need Gmail if you don't want it.

We use it for our daughter to see her grandparents in another state a few times a week, who all have different mix of devices. Works great.

It supports 8 person group video. Haven't tested with that many but it should work for your needs.

oh nice I didn't realize duo added video conference calls

We have also had success with Skype for similar things. We have also done Jackbox trivia games by streaming to twitch from the xbox and helping our family put the twitch stream on one screen and jackbox.tv (the controller interface) on their phones.

We did one with Google hangouts on a laptop. Just streamed Jackbox TV from the PS4 via Twitch. It worked well enough. There are sound and lag issues, but it was such low hassle that I didn't mind. You just need to make sure to turn on the extended timers for each of the games.

My wife and her family used House Party app to play some games this weekend. It had video chat and some build in games, like an Apples to Apples (CAH) clone and just general trivia. Seemed to work well and form a private group pretty easy and they all had fun for an hour or so.
