NFL 2020: Offseason

The Bears are talking to Teddy Bridgewater, but they have also reached out to Jacksonville to inquire about Nick Foles.

Sure thing Chicago. One Foles coming up. We'll even provide free delivery.

DeForest Buckner to the Colts with the Niners getting a 1st round pick.

Think they flip that pick top the Browns for OBJ?

...

God damn it.

I would have gotten rid of Armstead over Buckner.

13th overall pick is extremely high though. With the 13th and 31st pick, they certainly have enough draft capital to trade around and fill in some of their missing picks.

I think that price is too much for OBJ. But it certainly makes it a lot easier to use the 31st overall pick in a trade.

Colts are paying Buckner $21m/year, so he obviously was wanting more than the 49ers were going to be able to commit. Armstead is quite a bit cheaper.

This better not impact extending Buckner.

Why do I say things?

Who could be the player that the Niners couldn't wait for so they went and got the Colts' pick?

I don't think the pick is quite high enough for them to be locking in on one of the receivers, which would seem to be the position they'd be looking at at that part of the draft. At #13, there's a good chance someone ahead of them will take one, if not two, of the three receivers that could go in that area. They'd probably need to move up more in order to guarantee taking the WR they want, if they did indeed want to target a specific one.

My expectation is that they're simply grabbing the most draft capital they can, and that the #13 pick will very much be in play for further trading (a team wanting a QB could easily take Justin Herbert at around that spot). I think they'll take the best WR available if they are unable to move that pick. That is, assuming they don't leverage pick #31 in a trade for someone.

By the way, OBJ might not be the only WR in play for a potential trade. Stefon Diggs is pretty much announcing to the world that he expects (and wants) to be traded.

CB James Bradberry moves from Carolina to the NYG, and Colin Jones is no longer a Panther. Jones is a great special teams guy if you need one! Hope he never has to actually play safety, tho. *shivers*

For the 13th pick I'd trade just about anyone on my team other than a QB or stud OL.

I'll be honest, I don't know Bradberry and I even watched the Panthers All or Nothing season!

Apparently Bradberry is a solid corner but does have lapses where he has given up catches that go for 60+ yards. Still young so hopefully he can still improve and solidify a strong need.

Phins are making some noise with getting Jones, Van Noy and a few others.

Jack Conklin goes to Browns. One step closer to no longer having the league's worst OT pairing.

Ravens sign Michael Brockers, which fills another DL void, but I'm not a huge fan of the possible comp pick they're losing out on. Do they have the oldest DL now? Lol

Marcus Mariota to... the Raiders.

Gruden's interest in Mariota was a badly kept secret. Cheap way to bring in some competition at the position, because even though Derek Carr completed 70%, 4000 yards, 21 TDs to 8 INTs while throwing to a bunch of scrub WRs (and one good player in TE Darren Waller), *he's* clearly the problem.

Stefon Diggs traded to the Bills.

Boy if he got mad at Kirk Cousins struggling to get him the ball, I can't wait to see how he likes playing with Bortles 2.0.

I didn't think I'd see anything crazier this today than trading DeAndre Hopkins for a 2nd round pick as far as self-inflicted wounds go. The only thing that could justify this is the Texans knowing of an injury the rest of us don't.

Paying the ghost of Jimmy Graham $16M/2y is quite the contender though. I mean that Rodgers guy, what's he done so far? Clearly Graham just needs a fresh start.

Edit:
I thought the day was over and spoke too soon. $27M/3y for Randall Cobb?!

I dunno, I feel like he might actually be fine (drama wise) with a QB that will just throw it up there and give him a chance to make a play.

Speaking as a fan of the team that has the Texans' 2021 1st and 2nd round picks, I really like this Hopkins trade.

Looking forward to more shenanigans now that Eric DeCosta has reloaded his fifth round pick.

Rumors are that both Bucs and Chargers offered big contracts to Brady (money wise). I'm guessing not more than 2 years.

Yep. That's pretty much it.

Brady says goodbye to NE.

Daaaaaaamn. I knew something was coming, but I didn't want to believe it. It's Joe Montana with the Chiefs plus Michael Jordan with the Wizards - just weird and wrong.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are losing S/special teams Colin Jones (tba), DB James Bradberry (Giants) and DE Mario Addison (Carolina North). New additions are DE Stephen Weatherly (MIN) and DB Juston Burris (CLE). Meh on the new guys.

Team also announced that they'll go back to a 4-3, which the Riverboat ran forever until he switched it up last season and got sunk by the 3-4. No idea what Carolina will do at MLB w/o Luuuuuke. Shaq Thompson seems obvious, but he's not really a traditional MLB.

BTW, Stefon Diggs traded to Bills, poor guy.

And Amari Cooper gives the middle finger to Washington to stay in Dallas. I applaud this move, Amari.

Oh, boy: Panthers are looking to trade Cam.

On the plus side, they're apparently trying to pry Teddy Bridgewater loose from the Saints. I'm OK with that side of the equation.

Sucks to see Cam go. Man.

Edit: Apparently the Patriots are interested in Bridgewater, too. And you have to think the Pats might be kinda sorta interested in Cam. Interesting!

Don't make me cheer for the Pats, Teddy. Please.

There, that's more like it.

Nah, the Jaguars only get rid of good players.
