Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Opening my gates for a little bit. I have cherries, pears, peaches and coconuts to share. Feel free to take some and leave other fruit if you want.

Welp.

Item cloning glitch is out. And using 2 starting items, anybody can do it pretty easily. I won't post it here.

It's not like there's a shared economy. But if you see people who haven't time traveled and have millions of bells that's probably why.

Does it matter? I just plan on playing it the way I played New Leaf. Mostly as my own little world.

Does anyone know if you can pick up a friend's item but give it back after and order it from the catalog for yourself? I seem to remember that being the case in new leaf but I don't know if it applies here.

My wife and I have been doing that and it works. But of course a lot of stuff you can't order from the catalog.

Haven't tried it with other towns but should be same. I bought a hammock from someone else's town store and then could order it from home catalog.

I noticed the catalog was pretty sparse. Should we be buying whatever Nook has in the shop and selling it back to him in order to get it to appear in the catalog? Or does the catalog just randomly change its offerings?

My museum should be open tomorrow, and I donated all of the items for Nook's Cranny. My free Nook Miles Ticket island was the same as my native fruit luckily I was able to get coconuts.

Is it actually possible to catch this goddamn spider or should I just stop trying?

You gotta boost-run like the devil in a direction, get your net out, and turn around quickly and swoop up that gross little asshole before it gets ya.

I lucked out with a birthday yesterday. Gave a present and got something in return today. Finished the requirements for the 2nd and 3rd plots and fingers crossed someone is moving in tomorrow.

Picked up a proper Switch over the weekend (kids are out of school now so I had an excuse for wanting to play games with them) and I've just set the kids up on their own island while I keep to the Lite. If all goes well I'll grab a second copy of the game so we can play together and visit each other.

Will be on at some point over the 5-6 hours, still seeking cherries if anyone has them.

I find it's easier to sneak (hold A down with the net out) and get close to it. The spider will rear up on it's hind legs then will go down and start moving around again (as long as you stand still). Repeat this until your in range and let go of A.

My island seems to be infested with these as I have seen 7-8 over the 4 days. At first I thought it was because I was playing between 9p-12a, but yesterday I seen one during the afternoon.

Does the balloon presents seem more frequent than they did in AC New Leaf? I feel like I've seen way more in New Horizons.

Hpw much iron wood clay ECT do you keep in storage?

I figure I am capping stone, clay, and wood at 90. Iron is so hit or miss I may keep all of it.

How do I find more iron? I'm bottle-necked trying to build a lil nook shop. I'm extremely slow at this game compared to everyone else playing, it seems.

Some people are time traveling. I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m content to have my island be “behind”. That’s the way I played New Leaf, including putting it down for months at a time.

This is the intended way to catch.

Seen some crazy Twitter videos the last couple days where people dig traps for the spider or safe zones for themselves. Now that you can jump over holes, that's a cool option.

Just a simple plus sign with safe spot in the middle for you. Aggro the spider then run, jump, and it can't get you. Net at leisure.

First do you know how to properly hit rocks? You should get 7 or 8 materials out of each rock every day. I posted gif and instructions a few pages ago. I could move that to OP if it's helpful for everyone?

Second, use those nook miles tickets to go to random islands and strip mine them. You might also meet possible neighbors there you can invite to your island. And you'll get coconuts to bring back and plant.

So I finally found a duplicate fossil, what should I do with these? Do I just sell them?

Sorry if I missed anything last night. I opened my gate and saw my Nook Phone show the friend icon several times but every time I opened the app it was blank.

If you are short on rock materials, make sure you are doing the thing Stele posted a few pages back to get all 8 hits out of the rock. They are apparently time based so getting knocked out of range removes some possible hits.

Edit: Apparently I am too much of a hoarder... My house storage is completely full constantly.

WOW okay I've been shattering rocks with axes
Thank you, I will try to see if I can find a way to repopulate my island with rocks...

I don't time travel and had finally built up to 28 iron this morning after going to my rocks and then thought, "I'll bet going to a nook island will have rocks!" So I decided to use my ticket this morning and there were rocks, and now Nook is in the process of building a little seaside shop!

I also jam packed my pockets with practically everything else on that island and have planted coconuts along parts of my seashore.

Oh and I also caught a honeybee AND (finally) a wasp! No going around with "wasp face" for me again today!

On a good/bad note, my island is a complete mess around my house. I thought since I turned in what Blathers needed to construct the museum yesterday, it would be ready by today, but nope! It just started actual construction today. So I have a huge amount of items sitting all over the ground just waiting for the museum to open so I can donate them.

Sahara was around today, so bought some special rugs, walls, and floors. The large rug I bought doesn't fit into the small sized house though.

If you notice there are two types of axes....the regular axe and granite/stone axes. The granite/stone axes are the ones you want to use for "harvesting" rocks. I dig holes around one corner of my rocks with one space separation between the rock and the holes, and even when I'm at my most klutzy, I can still get the most out of a rock.

Same here. My neighbors must think I’m the worst.

Initially I tried to build a fence around it and that got really tedious. So now it just looks like I live at the dump.

LOL well at least there is no HOA fussing about, so we can create dump islands all we please!

On another note I’m so glad I play this game by myself and that I don’t have to share my console. This is wild.

Apparently only one player in the game confers in game progress. I would be really annoyed if I had to buy a second Switch for my child to contribute to progress in the game.

It's a really stupid decision on the part of Nintendo, but I play this game by myself as well and am not affected. However, I fully expect that once people's well-developed islands go up in flames when their Switch breaks or loses their data, there will be even bigger outcry. I had debated getting this game at launch because of it and thought about waiting until that (probably never) time when Nintendo fixed these issues. But then I didn't want to miss out on the fun of a game I've been waiting for for so long, and one of the reasons I bought a Switch in the first place.

Oh totally. It doesn’t affect me at all. I just assumed for families sharing a Switch every member of the island would have the same power.

So a few pages back someone posted they ate too many fruit and didn't want to move trees or break rocks or whatever. There's a solution to get rid of extra fruit... If you have a bathroom

That takes care of that!

See my rant at the top of page 8.

Rocks grow back 1 per day, in a random location. You should have 6 total. So if you broke them all it will take you 6 days to get back to normal.

Honestly the designers screwed up. You should only be able to break rocks after eating fruit. Any tool doing that by default is hindering your progress for days.

Yeah the first person to play gets island representative title or something. It's not exactly mayor from New Leaf but it's close. We assumed something like that so I started first, then my wife made her character.

But with co-op drop in/out play being so easy I'm not sure what the problem is. Why are you letting your kid or some one who doesn't plan to play the same start your island?

The only thing they did wrong is you can delete extra residents but I think if you delete the starting resident it wipes the island. So they need to patch a way to delete that initial resident and transfer story progress to another.

The only thing it hurt us on so far was when we got the quest to make houses for 3 incoming neighbors, my wife couldn't get the recipes from Nook. So I had to craft everything. She helped me gather and fed materials, so we still did it together. I just got more Nook miles. And she's missing some crafting recipes.

I have a couple of rocks on the cliffs of my island, which is kind of inconvenient. Should I destroy those rocks and hope they spawn in a better place, or is that actually where I want them long term and should try moving the ones on the starter section?

Yep. You want them close to each other and near your house. There's a 16k money rock every day and you want finding that to be as quick and convenient as possible.

That's why I was so mad at my friend destroying my rocks. I had 2 within sight of each other and fences built around them to make it easy to hit, not having to dig extra holes everyday.

If you do destroy only do 1 per day so you don't end up short on resources.
