Super Bowl LIV (aka 54): KC vs SF!

Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. Sunday or thereabouts. Fox has the game, which means we'll get four hours of Buck and Aikman. Wheeeeee!

Your halftime entertainment: Shakira and Jennifer Lopez

Current odds (based on a very quick check): KC minus 1.5; over-under is 54.5 (a 30-24 score, in other words, which seems reasonable).

Edit: I'm agnostic on the header pic. I had Mahomes last week so I figured, hey let's be fair and go with the Niners this week. I don't care who wins and am rooting for an entertaining game.

I can't tell what Kittle has tattooed on his left bicep, but I wouldn't be shocked if he accidentally drew on himself with a Sharpie and thought to himself, "Hey, that'd make a great tattoo!"

Supposedly Fox is streaming the game in 4K HDR over the fox sports app. Going to give that a shot. I read they had a spectactular fail when they tried to stream a Thursday night game in this format because many devices/tv's didn't use the HLG HDR standard but I think that has been addressed via hardware updates for most relatively new devices.

Guess I ought to figure out where I'll be watching this.

The tattoo is Long's Peak in CO. I assumed it was a mountain but wasn't sure which one so I looked it up.

Think I'm rooting for Andy Reid to get a ring, but have no horse in the race. I grew up on the Montana 49ers and the moment I realized I liked football was that goal line stand against the Bengals in the first SF win, but, really, I kind of hope the 49es get up 28-3 and Shanahan implodes again.

Mays has an article at the Ringer about the top 10 QB-pass catcher duos of the decade and I found this one tidbit to be enlightening:

Gronkowski retired with a 9.9 yards per target average over his 10 seasons. That’s the best mark for any player, regardless of position, since targets became an official stat in 1993. Better than Julio Jones (9.68). Better than Jordy Nelson (9.29). Better than Calvin Johnson (8.86).

So, who do I want when the game is on the line? Jerry Rice? Maybe. Julio? Maybe. Megatron? Maybe. Gronkowski? Yup. I think we have a winner. Injuries aside, dude was a monster whenever he was on the field.

He could also block. There's a reason he was the safety-valve on pretty much every single play.

Probably one of the most, if not the most, underpaid players for effectiveness on the field.

Blocking is part of why he was so successful as a receiver.

Play base defense against Gronk, and you're likely having to cover him with a linebacker, which is a brutal mismatch.

Play nickel/heavy nickel against Gronk, and a defensive back is going to get obliterated trying to defend the run.

He made it so opponents couldn't just cover him with a DB all game.

There are rumors Jon Gruden is interested in Jameis Winston. Sure, it's lately unsubstantiated speculation at this point, but . .

I'm in Boca for work until Sunday.

I'm 10% hoping that there are complications Sunday and I have to stay 1 more night and I just head into Miami somewhere to watch the game.

The other 90% of me realizes what a gong show it will be and I should just get home ASAP.

I hope Winston re-signs in Tampa for $33m/year.

I can't wait for Dee Ford to cost Kansas City a chance at a championship a second time.

I think I watched that on my TCL Roku TV.

Only watched a couple shows and movies on Amazon Prime in 4k so far. No new Blu Ray player yet and not paying the extra on Netflix every month.

The game broadcast isn't really going to be in 4K. It's upscaled 1080p.

There may be some small value in having the 1080p image upscaled to 4K at the source rather than your TV having to do it at playback in real time, but it's likely to be tiny, if it's any improvement at all.

The end of the Patriots dynasty begins.

Texans make it official, finally: Bill Obrien is the GM.

Great, now he can screw up talent acquisition AND fail to coach them to their full potential! More embarrassing first or second round playoff exits incoming! More incredible talent wasted on slightly above par teams! Go Texans! :/

Glad the Browns officially didn't make the worst GM hire of the off season.

They're winning the offseason again!

Head coach, offensive playcaller, and general manager.

This sounds familiar, where have I heard it before...

I wonder if Legion has seen the latest Draw Play. No, not the cartoon; the blog post that goes with it.

Kittle was wearing a signed T-Shirt with that photo during pressers after the title game.

Browns have fired VP of player personnel Alonzo Highsmith, and assistant GM Eliot Wolf has quit despite them wanting him to stay.

DePodesta is fully in charge. This is gonna be good! Hue Jackson good!

I'd like to have seen them on Hard Knocks; the version of Hard Knocks that existed before the Raiders got their hands on it.

Work asking everyone to wear jerseys tomorrow. My only jersey is Jerry Rice so that's fun

Understood.. i didn't blow my cash on a 4K HDR television to watch 1080p, so I'll take the upscaling and continue to turn my nose up at all of the 1080p people

Don't worry, I'm sure when they set up on Market to capture the victory parade, they'll broadcast that in 4K.
