I'm all in on position awards.

WR: Rice
TE: ?
DT: ?
DE: Reggie White
LB: LT
CB: Deion
Safety: Ed Reed?
K: Who cares?

TE I wanted to say John Mackey, but he's already the award for that in college. I'm gonna say Gonzalez. Thought about Winslow but that name just makes me think of awful things now.

DT, give me Merlin Olsen.

No arguments with LT. Nor with White or Deion, though could go a generation older and pick Deacon Jones and Mel Blount.

Safety, it'd be hard for it to be anyone but Ronnie Lott, though there does already exist a Lott Trophy in college. Either Larry Wilson for an older name, or, yeah, Ed Reed.

Kicker, has to be Vinatieri but I'm partial to Morten Andersen.

Yeah, my names are all the ones I grew up with so I'd very much support guys from other eras to balance things out and Merlin Olsen is a great pick. In browsing career Approximate Value leaders, I was surprised to see that Lott is the highest rated safety. I knew he was in the low 30's for overall ranking and just assumed he wasn't the top scoring player at that position...but he is.

If we wanted to do metrics, Derrick Brooks and Rod Woodson outrank LT and Deion but I'd be pretty adamant about LT being the one. The guy changed the position. Rod Woodson over Deion would make sense.

Love Woodson, but the amount of his career success that he had after his position change to safety makes it hard for me to think of him as only a cornerback. (Of course, one could apply this same logic to Ronnie Lott for starting his career at CB)

LB is tricky because you have pass rushers and you have off-ball LBs. LT is the embodiment of the edge rushing OLB, Brooks is a pretty classic example of an off-ball LB.

Wild Card weekend Mic'd Up:

The shot of Josh McCown at the end of the Seahawks/Eagles chunk is pretty heartbreaking. Poor guy. Dude has been in the league since 2002 and this is the first playoff game he's ever been to, and he ends up on the field and playing a one-score game.

Fresno State has a proud history is NFL talent; Tent Dilfer, Michael Pittman, returner Clifton Smith. They're like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the . . . Big Sky Conference? Something like that.

It's just like you to leave out the school's rich history of wide receivers, like should-be-in-Hall-instead-of-Monk Henry Ellard, Pro Bowler and fantasy stud Davante Adams, and '00s Decade 1st-Team All-Drops Bernard Berrian.

I am in love

Eagles fired Offensive Coordinator Mike Groh and Wide Receivers coach Carson Walch today. What makes it weird is that Doug said yesterday that both will be back, begging the question of whether it was actually his decision or not.

I can't say I'm disappointed given the performance the last two years. There's already speculation regarding the next Offensive Coordinator.

He would've said the same five mins before firing them. It's how this sh*t goes. All coaches, GMs and owners are untrustworthy this time of year.

I went for snark, you went for the jugular with reality. Harsh!

One of these days, you guys are just going to go create a "Bash *Legion* and Everything He Loves" thread and go at it without the other pesky football posts getting in the way.

That was an impressive speech! Exactly the mentality I wanted to run this team which is a separate direction from the previous 2 coaches so kudos to Mara and crew for going beyond their usual way of doing things. Now to level set, let's see how things play out but man he was pretty damn great!

Seems like a Gettleman type coach.

You ask for it with those stars around your name.

Can we nominate *Legion* to post the weekly "Bash *Legion* and Everything He Loves" thread? Preferably before the Thursday night game.

I am confused by feelings of respect for someone associated with that franchise. I'm not sure I like it.

I commented on Reddit about this play, basically calling it a great play by Watson to fix a bad play by Watson. Other Reddit commenters seemed to take exception with this characterization.

Bills rushed 7-on-6, meaning the 7th guy is Watson's responsibility. He doesn't sniff out the free rusher pre-snap, but worse, he doesn't see him at all post-snap. The protection call is slide right, so Watson should be aware of someone coming unblocked on the left edge, but isn't. 9 times out of 10, letting an unblocked rusher hit you before getting the ball out is going to be a disastrous play. (The second rusher beating the block to get to Watson isn't on Watson, though)

The "right" play was throwing in the direction of the blitz to the stop route, probably gaining only about 8 or so.

Nine of that, of course, invalidates what Watson did in the second half of the play. But this shows where Watson still has some growing to do, and maybe why Watson's performance is still more volatile than one would like to see.

After days of people describing the play like it was all according to plan, it was validating to see JT call out the same things I saw. I pretty much yelled "YES" and "THANK YOU" at the screen while I watched.

Why's Melania talking like she's Bela Lugosi's granddaughter?

Jokes on us. He suited up for a few plays Sunday.

I love his friend behind him to the left.

Haha, no. We can't be bothered to post weekly threads most week.

Speaking of, here's the divisional round thread.
