GTFO: Co-op Horror Survival Game

GTFO is a 4 player action/horror cooperative first-person shooter for hardcore gamers looking for a real challenge. Players get to play as a team of prisoners, forced to explore and extract valuable artifacts from a vast underground complex that has been overrun by terrifying creatures. Gather weapons, tools, and resources to help you survive - and work to unearth the answers about your past and how to escape.

This peaked my interest last night. It is out in early access. Small dev team of 10 but the concept looks interesting. It is supposed to be hard (and I don't think they have match making yet). Here is some gameplay footage.

It looks gritty and tense but waiting on matchmaking for now since I can't dedicate a set time at moment. From this video and others, I really like the emphasis on teamwork and communication. If there isn't it can go downhill fast.

That is was/is a concern for me too as the game seems to put you at a disadvantage if you are short handed. I looked at the official Discord server last night and there were over 100 people in voice chat which seems to be a workaround to the matchmaking problem.

That's cool. From what I read, the dev team is focusing on getting it out since a lot of the reviews indicate this as a critical missing piece.

Bump for this one. Just got it, LFG. I already pinged Kazar.

Saw the giantbomb video, peaked my interest. Anyone still playing?

I just picked it up but was hesitant to play it since matchmaking isn't implemented yet and I didn't see anyone playing here. If you do pick it up, let me know and I can install it. I am normally around weekdays (M-TH) after 9PM EST.

Apparently matchmaking has been added. Anyone playing this, and want to take a newb through?

Looked interesting but wasn't sure if it was "fun"? Seemed like a lot of sneaking around/ stealth killing and then "oh crap! Shoot everything!!!". Anyone here have an opinion on the game?

I got this on sale a couple months ago and ended up refunding it. The game does almost literally nothing to teach you how it works. After a few total party wipes, and after the first couple of hour-plus-long YouTube "Beginner tips" videos I clicked on that somberly warned the viewer to watch the whole thing carefully beginning to end and really pay attention, I decided it wasn't for me, at least not right now. I was also frustrated by things like wonky hit detection, where monsters (I don't remember what the technical term for the ones in this game is) would just seemingly slide sideways out of the path of my shots without animating.

I wanted to like it, it has a lot of cool ideas, someone who has the time and patience to really study it and practice and fail a lot until they learn how to git gud (or more preferably a group of people with those qualities) may enjoy it.

Anyone still playing this? I just snagged it on the Steam sale.

This came out of early access this past week. Videohead and I played some and had a blast. It is pretty intense and requires some good teamwork to survive. It can be brutal if you screw up and attract attention at the wrong time, but there are now checkpoints so you usually don't have to completely restart a mission if you wipe. If anyone else is interested in trying it out, post here.

I'd love to, but as long as there is no singleplayer, I am out. Its a shame, because the concept looks great!

There are bots that you could try single player with, but the objectives and coordination required for some elements might be beyond the AI. A full 4 human team is probably required for tougher missions.

I'm in. So glad they added checkpoints!
