Diablo IV - Catch All

Well, here's my numbers, from a very low sample size, excluding the run that prompted my first post as I didn't track everything exactly.

Tier 4 - 14 chests opened, 210 obducite received, 15/chest avg
Tier 5 - 11 chests opened, 220 ingolith received, 20/chest avg
Tier 6 - 10 chests opened, 227 ingolith received, 22.7/chest avg
Tier 7 - 10 chests opened, 250 neathiron received, 25/chest avg

Pretty good results, and you get other mats from the chests as well, so excellent alternative to pit runs IMO. The amount per run will definitely depend on luck with the offers between waves, as on tier 5 I've ended up with anywhere from 270-450ish aether at the end.

Edit: Was able to complete a tier 7, barely. Numbers added.

I'm pretty sure they drop a unique in the first big seasonal reward that makes you feel like a wrecking ball.

Axial Conduit for a chain lightning sorc feels broken for leveling.

Not for druid. I mean there was a unique, but no wrecking ball follow up.

Yeah- I’m playing druid this season and it was so inconsequential I don’t even remember what it did.

Got my druid to 55 so far, but yeah - doesn't feel like the season for druids. Will probably abandon him there.

The uniques that you get from the season journey are random. I believe I only got the meteor helm and a tal rasha ring from the journey.

Yah. I got boots for my chain lightning sorceress. I don't remember its property but she definitely is a lot of fun to play. There are a lot of affixes that are really fun like the one that has a chance to double split the lightning of something like that. And the one that melts elites especially.

It looks like there are now a couple of mitigations to being one-shot.

Did you get any Stygian Stones from the chests? That would be the final straw to running the Pit.

Yup. Didn't log any numbers, but they seemed to drop every 5th or 6th chest on tier 7 and every 3rd or 4th chest on tier 8.

Oh, and it's 30 neathiron per chest on tier 8.

A friend was supposed to give me a key but never did lol
oh well!!! someday

So I decided to level a rogue for the additional spark you get. I got a pleasant surprise. The only uber unique I have is Andariel's Visage. Turns out, you only need to be lvl 35 to use it. Really opened up the process.

For some reason this season feels like more of a slog to me. I think in seasons past I've gotten lucky and gotten one of those build-defining uniques relatively early (even if low level) but RNG seems to not be favoring me this season. I'm in the low 80s, so Tier 2 Compass is fun.. but trivial and usually gives loot in the low/mid 800s iLevel, where a lot of my gear running NM 35-40 is starting to hit 925. Tier 3 Compass I can't quite handle yet, and I did throw myself at Beast in the Ice and was a little suprised at how poorly that went. I can probalby try that again, but need to farm those mats.

I'll stick to it, and once I get one of those uniques, I'm sure it will bring a bit more enjoyment, but having half the content trivial and the other half a bit too much, kinda sucks. Running around helltide and/or tree quests to close that gap, not particularly appealing.

What is Tier 3 Compass?

Sorry I never know the name of anything.. Tier 3 Infernal Compass.. the thing to trigger the Infernal Hordes event

Have you leveled all your paragon glyphs to 15? Ideally between 80-100 you should be running nightmare dungeons non stop to level and get your glyphs up. I wouldn’t focus on the new stuff until you hit 100. Then you can focus on getting reasonable gear to start master working. That’s when you will need mats from the new stuff (or the Pit).

Only time to stop running NM dungeons is to grab the Helltide boss for 5 whispers and Legion and World Boss for 3 and 5 Whispers.

I have been running NMs to do that. The system they introduced last season, where you basically get a guaranteed Sigil at current NM level +1 though kinda comes back to bite you. 35-40 is my sweet spot for my character right now, so I'm staring at a level 42 sigil, and if it has a "Poison enhanced + Stormbane" its not fun. I kinda hope to craft a level 35 sigil so i can just go 35-40 pretty quickly.

The "stuck" is that I can do a Tier 2 Horde event, and that gets me 2-3 more paragon "levels", but no loot upgrades, or I can do a 35-40 NM event that maybe gets me 1 paragon level but level 925 loot. That sort of "in between" is not something I remember last season, but again I think I just got lucky on the RNG last time and I kinda breezed through to level 100 pretty quickly.

Some of it might come down to your class and build. Ideally you are using an S class tier build from Maxroll.gg but even the A tier stuff can do just about anything with a smidge more effort. Some of the bosses are certainly easier than others. Varshan is super easy to farm and playing Barrage Rogue this season is especially good because he drops 2 of the uniques the build uses.

Don’t discount the regular seasonal “dungeons” that are infernal horde like. Sometimes they award 5 whispers and you can easily finish with 20 aether and get the greater loot chest which can drop the new seasonal uniques.

That's true. I'm too lazy and un-motivated to completely change builds, so I pick one and stick with it. Last season I used a necro build that was S-tier for leveling and farming but D-tier for bossing.. and I found that a lot of fun. I didn't get to kill the Tormented Versions of anything but whatever.

This season I'm using a B-Tier for everything (levelling + bossing), and yeah, I guess the levelling just isn't as entertaining as it was last season.

Assuming the game decides to generate a dungeon that can be completed. A couple days ago I got one that didn't have a boss room, despite the goal clearly stating I should kill a boss. Just now I got one where only 3 of the 4 "Spider Callers" actually existed.

*grumble grumble*

Got my first mythic unique after probably around 30 tormented bosses and it was the goddamn shrine staff. Luckily, it was my fourth spark so I could craft what I wanted but still a bummer.

My partner poked her head in to ask why I yelled out "Just give me the pants your bastard!!!"

A lot of Andariel and Durriel smashing without gettting any Tibault's Will.

Lol, i spent the majority of S3 screaming and doing the same...

Am I right in thinking that Blackened Femurs, Gurgling Heads, and Trembling Hands are now just more annoying versions of a Malignant Heart? ie. Functionally the same but you need to visit the alchemist to transmute them 1:1.

The QoL from changing the Distilled Fear from a Nightmare Dungeon to a boss to summon like all the others was a good move, so I'm a little surprised about the above if it is true.

RNG hates me this week.
The last 5 hours of play has seen zero gear upgrades of any kind.
Maybe it's time for the next alt this season?

That's one extra spark if you take it all the way.

Played the main to hunt some goblins for a bit. 2 hours to get a minor/questionable upgrade to the staff....

Druid alt is up to 40 in a pretty quick time though.

Been looking at some stuff about the new expansion...

Diablo IV base game: "screw Diablo III; we're going back to what makes the series awesome."

Diablo IV expansion: "OK so maybe Diablo III had some good ideas when it came to difficulty and endgame structure and stuff."

I think that has been in play since D4 launched.

Nothing makes me roll my eyes harder than the D2 uber-fan boys. It was great for its time, but gaming moved forward. And D3 had its flaws, but also did some really good things.
