Diablo IV - Catch All

Every season so far, I've spent a decent amount of my pre-WT3 time in the PvP zone working on the red dust quests for the season journey. In the first two seasons and my first 40 levels of this season, I never saw a single other person.

Tonight, shortly after hitting 40, I was going to kill the abomination in each zone before stopping for the night (there's a quest to kill five abominations while blood marked). Right after I killed the abomination in the first zone, I saw the notification that another player was extracting for the first time in three seasons. As I was extracting the seeds from the abomination kill, the first player I've ever seen in PvP came riding in with about 10 seconds left. I ended up killing him despite him completely refilling his hp four times. Of course this is the first season without a quest for killing another player (I think).

I then went to the other zone hoping it would be less eventful so I could get a quick abomination kill. I got to the abomination just after another player had killed it and, from the number of seed piles on the group, at least one other player. Managed to kill that guy. Then, as I was picking up the several thousand seeds on the ground, another player comes in and easily kills me since I only had one potion left.

This is an annoying development. I still need three abomination kills (I apparently wasn't blood marked for the first couple I did) and around six thousand red dust. Maybe WT1 will be less populated (although, I'm on WT2 specifically because I believe most people level on WT1).

You may just have gotten lucky with the prior seasons, Since Malignant season I’ve started off farming pvp zones and whether or not I encounter other players doing the same has always been down to what time and day I’m playing more than anything else.

So after spending the past couple seasons dabbling with other classes, I decided to circle back around to Rogue. At first I started dabbling with new skills, but quickly fell back into the boss-melter build I'd developed in the initial release. It's surprising to me how quickly the basics of it came online, what with the stack of skill points new characters start with now and me knowing what skills to combine. I kinda like how that system has shaken out.

I like the questing and the leveling speed for the new season.
I think the leveling speed is help this quite a bit. In past seasons you had a break in the story where you had to level up ~5 levels before continuing. It took away from the season's momentum.
The questline is probably paced the same but the leveling speed requires little if any level grinding.

So there is that.
The season mechanic has some flaws. The construct does get swallowed up by the necro's minions so I don't find it terribly useful. But that is the crucial flaw with D4, the season's mechanics are always neutered to have all sizzle and no substance because your play needs to be drawn out for higher metrics at the cost of fun. They won't fix it because it is by design and it is crippling the game.

After, I dunno, 500ish attempts, it's finally done! Now I never have to fight that stupid, unfair, totally garbage fight ever again!!!

Heh. I've always petered out way before getting anywhere close to being able to attempt that fight. I find this series a lot more satisfying when I let myself just stop playing whenever I'm not feeling it. I'll have the itch again sooner or later...

grats! I got her done last season... and yea not planning on doing it again

I also beat her last season because ball lightning.

I'm going to need to find a rogue build to do it this season because I want to 100% the season journey.

Any chance there would be anybody around that would want to group up to do Lilith some time this week?

I've been going pretty slow this season because of work stuff but I'm finally almost done with the season. I'm a half level from 100 and all I need to 100% the journey is a T90 dungeon (I definitely have the damage but I might need a more defensive chest) and a Lilith kill.

My barb this season can easily solo her.

Feel free to send me an IM on b.net. I'm pretty much done playing for the season, but happy to hop on and assist.

Season 4 changes to itemization look awesome! Seems like the devs have really been listening to the players this time around.

I've heard that before. But I do hope it gets worked out.

Each time it's been mentioned, it's been true. Just not all encompassing or quick in happening...

Eh, S3 was a step backward from S2. Also, all of Overwatch:F2P (among other instances) gives all of Blizzard a -2 to Charisma for me.

I am by no means done with D4, but there are too many games I'm really psyched to play right now (FF7Rebirth, Dragon's Dogma 2, Baldur's Gate 3). I'll give Blizzard the D3 treatment and step away for a while to let them get their sh*t together.

I am very soured to D4.
But I also recall that D3 wasn't great until the revamped itemization and added "monster power".
Which turned into the changes made for the expansion and the modern classic that is current D3.

Different game different team. They're not equal.

Yea just too many games... primary reason why i didn't jump into S3

After one-shooting the Helltide boss thing, the Butcher and Malphas all within an hour or so, I decided to give her a shot. As long as I set up my earthstriker before the fight, I easily one-shot the first phase. The current problem is that I don't remember how to dodge the phase 2 fireballs which instantly kill me because I only have 14k life.

I need to change out my boots since I'm running quad resist with no move speed. Obviously don't need anything other than fire resist for that fight.

The more move speed you can stack for phase 2 the better. Those fireballs cannot be reliably avoided without +move on both your boots and amulet. For my first solo kill I kept max +move boots and amulet in my inventory, and swapped to them in the break between phases. Still took me 50+ attempts to dodge them successfully, but eventually got it done.

If you can get your hands on a Melted Heart of Selig, you can eat those fireballs and make the fight trivial.

Yeah, I got boots and an amulet to hot swap in after I "kill" her in phase 2. I still keep dying while waiting for the second platform to fall. At this point, it's just going to be a repetition thing. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it this weekend.

She was much easier the first time I killed her because, if you "killed" her before she spawned the blood blisters, the fireballs wouldn't come out.

All this annoyance just to get the "terrible" title modifier.

popped back in for a bit. Still fun, but as others its one of those things where every month or so I'll play a bit and go back to the sidelines.

I was surprised they added some of those Season 2 aspects back in. Trying to find them.. not so fun.
I'm running Barrage rogue, which I guess is now a top tier build, and I was so happy to find a build that didn't need Tibaults. Then those aspects come in and its Tibault Time again!

Finally got Lilith. The second platform is by far the hardest part because you basically have to turn around on it while dodging the fireballs. The run I finally got her wasn't even very good. She still had health when the fireballs spawned so I had to bonk her one last time after the last platform fell. Getting over to her to hit her was the most tense two seconds ever.

Hopefully none of the future season have desirable titles for 100%-ing the season but I really don't want to do that again.

It looks like they're heavily revamping the end-game for the next season. I haven't looked at the details, but I heard something about drastically sped up leveling and more stuff to do at level 100. So there's not telling how Level 100 Lilith is going to fit in to the new setup.

The problem with the Lilith fight isn't about leveling high enough or itemizing for it. I think I've been able to one-shot her first phase since around level 90. The only piece of late game gear that helped is Banished Lord's Talisman and there were some runs that where I forgot to swap it back in (I had to hot swap it out in the second phase for a move speed amulet). The problem is that only certain builds are viable for it and the actual mechanics for the fight are just not fun.
