Diablo IV - Catch All

Let's explore the new shiney together!

Just checking in

It' s going to be fun in a year or two when I keep insisting there is no way I'm buying this game, and so skip whatever pre-order benefits there are to be had, only to give in and buy it the day after launch.

And I'll be there with my pre-order bat wings and Deluxe edition Hydralisk vanity pet on full display.

I'm glad it's far enough off that Blizz has plenty of time to un-f*ck themselves so I don't have to boycott the game for ethical concerns.

...they won't do that though, will they?

They won't. It will blow over because the next controversy will replace it.

I already know I'll be buying the over priced full collectors edition of the game. With the amount of time I spent in D3... may even grab a few copies to hold on to and sell years later.

Or give the Tyrael wing codes to friends of yours? Eh? Old buddy old pal?

something about quote and edit and UI positioning.

Fixed this for you.

I doubt I'll pre-order it, but plan to buy it at some point.

That’s probably more likely, though I think there is a chance they will try to push it out sooner in an effort to finally get some sort of ‘positive’ story about them in the news.

Checking in as well.

Speaking of Blizzard boycotts, I'm wondering just how long it ethically makes sense to refuse to buy Blizzard products. I think the fact I didn't renew my WOW account after the whole Hong Kong debacle is enough for now - I'm not sure if I should take a hard stance and say "no Diablo 4" now when in reality I'm going to buy it unless Blizzard continues to go off the rails.

Thread banner needed (suggest a Diablo 2 screen of a Horadric Cube).

Tagging.

I’m interested. I really liked Diablo 3 and each game in the series has revamped the skill tree mechanics. That’s what’s going to sell me on this. There’s a huge difference between Diablo 3 and it’s contemporaries (Path of Exile, Grim Dawn, and Torchlight 2) and I hope Diablo 4 tries something new again.

I always felt like they mostly hit with 3’s forced skill progression and being able to use any of a classes skill without costly respeccing or alts was fantastic.

Checking in too. By the time it launches the boy should be around 14 so perfect to do some family dungeon crawling together.

I wonder if they'll bring the AH back. I made $6 from a legendary which I never claimed and was forfeited when they shut it down.

I made over 1k back in D2 days. I knew a boyfriend/girlfriend duo who had made 10k+

Don't think it'll be setup that way again, but at the same time i know folks who do as well if not better with the market in PoE.

Diablo 4 - 5 BIGGEST Changes You Need To Know About
* I don't know about "need" but it is a nice bit of information.

I feel like this answer will vary from person to person. Some people won't boycott at all. Some people will boycott until they actually issue an apology and implement policy changes. Some people will "boycott" right up until Blizzard releases a game they actually want.

I turned my WoW sub back on once Blizzard un-revoked the prizes that Blitzchung had already won. What Blitzchung did was absolutely inappropriate; that's what made it an effective protest. Part of what makes it effective is the penalty he was deliberately opting into. Blizzard did overreact and the relevant legal contract is too vague and arbitrary, but my beef with the company is more about the degree of reaction rather than the kind.

I'm still pretty uncomfortable with Blizz, and activision as a whole. I'm probably gonna sit this one out, barring some major explicit policy changes or insurmountable pressure to play from IRL friends; both seem unlikely. This is kind of a fair weather boycott, since the perspective of classic Diablo no longer does it for me. Do like the art direction change though.

Have to say when I found out Brom was doing concept for Diablo 4, it definitely lessened concerns of one note art direction for this game. Brom can definitely be labeled as somewhat one note, I just happen to like that note a lot.

The trailer is fantastically dark. Very horror- inspired. Also seriously unsuitable for kids. I have to give Blizzard props for their cinematics.

I'm in this to win this.

Quarterly update.

Native controller support for PC is a huge thing for me.

Borderlands or Chaos Marauders...?

Same. Vastly prefer kickin' back on the couch with a controller to sitting at a desk or dealing with kb/m not on a desk.
