NCAA Basketball 19-20 Catch-All

I figured after losing Chris Clarke and Kerry Blackshear to the transfer portal, they'd have a down year at least. But that's a pretty decent victory, all things considered. Provided they don't drop into the basement of the ACC, they've helped their NCAA tournament chances. Beating Dayton would help as well.

In the meantime, UNC will begin their rather unfortunate gauntlet on Wednesday... It's a gnarly stretch, and might see Gonzaga twice. Not something I'd look forward to!

Yeah Louisville is in their "real game" stretch now. WKU, Michigan, Pitt, and Texas Tech.

Then 2 breather games (EKU, Miami OH) before Kentucky and ACC play gets rolling.

In strange news, the game Friday @WKU is on Facebook. I mean I expected CBS SN since CUSA has a deal with CBS and even though Louisville is #2, there's too much football on Friday for it to take a normal CBS slot. But in an announcement last weekend, they said the game will be exclusively on Facebook instead.

Well, that's a giant pile of WTF. I'm amazed there are no other viewing choices.

UNC had one of those too, though not on Facebook. The game with UNCW was only streamable via some small tier 3rd party thing. I'd not heard of them before that, and it required a membership to view. So.... that was a radio game!

Yeah the football game with WKU earlier this year was on Stadium. That's free OTA here, and available on web and most streaming devices for free as well. But this is a whole other level of weirdness.

Annnnnnnd down goes #1. Duke loses at HOME to Stephen F. Austin. Wow.

Crazy finish in OT!

Wow just saw it.

Take care of business in Nashville and Louisville is your new #1. Let's do it.

Good luck! #1 seems to be a curse this season!

Great games today. Kansas survives in OT. Oregon v Seton Hall is a good nightcap so far

Ags vs Harvard today at lunchtime! ESPN2, if anyone is looking for something to watch on Thanksgiving.

As I was saying on the football thread, Stephen F Austin is truly in the middle of nowhere. I might know one person who went there. Totally amazing!

The Kansas game came down to stamina, I think. Kansas just had too much left in the tank in OT. Dayton is for real, though. I imagine they'll be in better shape come tournament time, and they would NOT be someone I'd want to see in my bracket!

The Oregon v Seton Hall game was crazy. I thought SH had it locked up, and yet somehow, Oregon comes back and just manages to achieve victory. I think they came back from a 19 point deficit!

Oregon missed a dozen FTs or they would have won easily. I wasn't sure they could overcome but they did.

Chaminade took Georgia to the wire. Tie game and Ga took a long 3 at the buzzer to win.

More Atlantis games today look good. I'm going to have to fight the inlaws to get hoops on TV instead of NFL.

Michigan all over UNC, up 24 in the 2nd half.

I think we cut it to a not-really-respectable 10 or so by the end of the game. Just.. ugly. I've been muttering about it for a couple of weeks now, but today crystalized it. I haven't really seen anything out of UNC that resembles a top 25 ranking, much less top 10. They've got some talented players, but there's zero shot consistency, and a significant lack of attention to detail on defense. Sure, it's early, but I've seen limited improvement over their first 5-6 games. If they don't start circling the wagons, they're going to find themselves on the outside looking in come conference season!

NC State playing Memphis State right now trying to keep the triangle teams from all taking losses this week.

Gonzaga beat Oregon in OT. Playing Michigan in final tomorrow.

UNC v Oregon for 3rd place. A top 11 team is going to end the week with 2 losses.

Yeah, but that was likely to happen given how loaded the Battle 4 Atlantis bracket was this year. Not looking forward to that Oregon matchup. If we play like we did today, well you might as well just send the team back to the airport now.

Yargh.

Well, we managed to pull a win in our final game, thankfully. Michigan just thumped Gonzaga about as badly as they did us, so maybe that makes our loss look a little less bad?

Cards took care of business vs WKU. #1 Monday. Hosting a ranked and on fire Michigan team Tuesday. Going to be a fun week.

And the #8 Louisville women beat #1 Oregon today by 10 to win the Paradise Jam tournament. Yes!

FSU beats Tennessee for its second upset of a ranked SEC team. Still a lot of questions, but should look good on resume

Louisville #1. Michigan from unranked to #4. Tomorrow night, Wolverines at Cardinals, 730. Should be fun.

Also Louisville women are #2.

It's gonna be a hell of a game, I think.

Miami giving Illinois more than it bargained for so far!

Lol. Miami squandered a 27 pt lead but still managed to win by 2. Chris Lykes is going to be a pain again this year.

That was awesome. Arena rocking, Cards by 15, still #1. Who cares about the challenge?

What the hell is Purdue doing to Virginia?

They scored the sex number. Nice.

SDSU improves to 9-0 after beating Colorado on the road. I have high hopes this year, as the last time we were at 9-0 was in 2006 when we had some guy named Kawhi Leonard.

On to 10-0
AZTECS FIGHT!

Only 16 undefeated teams left. And DePaul is in OT right now. Ohio State in a tight one with UNC.

EDIT: DePaul survives. Buckeyes now up double digits instead of just 3.

We came out looking good, and then became the UNC team that forgets how to basketball. Ugh. Just brutal. Losing Bacot halfway through the first half didn't help for sure... but it's really the same story. We don't have anyone that's consistent as an offensive threat.

Sigh.
