What is happening?!

Yeah Fox bought it about 3-4 years ago and plays it for college hoops. It's f*cking amazing.

You don't want to watch 60-somethings play smaller tennis?

I see them all the time; it's taking over our local tennis courts. If they're having a good time, bless' em. I do imagine it irks people who want the courts for tennis.

As far as watching it as a spectator, nah.

Obviously this is not the Vince McMahan who sexually harassed and assaulted his employees and then paid them off. Clearly, this is a younger man... with a mustache.

Major leagues, broadcasters pledge responsible betting ads

Is the current deluge we're getting their idea of "responsible"?

Most of the nation’s major professional sports leagues, plus the media companies Fox and NBCUniversal are creating an alliance to ensure that sports betting advertising is done responsibly and does not target minors.

The Coalition for Responsible Sports Betting Advertising was created Wednesday, consisting of the National Football League; Major League Baseball; the men’s and women’s leagues of the National Basketball Association; the National Hockey League; NASCAR, Major League Soccer, Fox and NBCUniversal.

They described the group as a voluntary alliance to control how sports betting advertising, which is ever-present on the airwaves, in print and online, is presented to consumers.

It includes a recommendation that “excessive” advertising be avoided.

Uh huh.

Yeah Charles and Kenny were split screen during the first quarter of Cavs-Knicks last night, talking about FanDuel.

NBC SNF has betting lines for the night's game throughout the entire hour of pre-game on the bottom/side of the picture.

Yeah, I'm very interested to hear what these people's definition of "excessive" is.

I was a bit sad to see Clint Dempsey doing Draft Kings during tonight's USA - Mexico match.

FWIW, what sticks in my craw, personally, about this stuff isn't just it slowly gray goo-ing its way through pro sports, it's that they're doing it in college sports too (and definitely aren't targeting 18 to 22-year-olds!).

I don't like it showing up during games and my little kids are watching it. High ick factor.

ROOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE

Alabama baseball coach Brad Bohannon was fired Thursday amid a widespread investigation into suspicious betting activity on the Crimson Tide's game against LSU six days ago.

Sportsbook surveillance video indicated that the person who placed the bets was communicating with Bohannon at the time, multiple sources with direct information about the investigation told ESPN.

Crazy thing is the texts were apparently read from the camera where he placed the bets.

That's some damn good (creepy) cameras.

Mage wins the Kentucky Derby ...

And I had all my money on the high-DPS Rogue Archer.

Betting it all on the glue factory might have been safer considering how this week was going for horses.

Yeah they showed how the last 10 years only 3 total replacement horses have got in the Derby. And then this year 3 more. Rough month

I know I'm probably the only pro wrestling person here, but WWE Backlash was in Puerto Rico last night and...

Like, I don't know how many Latinos/spanish speakers we might have here, but this is insane.

Bad Bunny is not just "some celebrity" either. Whether you like his music or not, he is arguably the biggest musical act in the world right now, and he put on a GREAT match with Damien Priest.

Like, it cannot be understated how ridiculous it is that he's doing this, and doing it well. It's not a huge exaggeration to say that this is like if, in 1991, Michael Jackson appeared on a WWE PPV to fight Bret Hart, took some hellacious bumps, and killed it.

And the crowd in Puerto Rico.... sheeeeeesh.

Is this the right thread for college baseball? The Ags are playing for the SEC Championship starting now on ESPN2!

It will always be remarkable to me just how far off the public radar the Indy 500 has fallen over the course of my life. It and the racing circuit that runs it got well lapped by NASCAR over 25 years ago and both are getting eclipsed in the US by Formula 1.

Djokovic ‘raising tensions’ of Serbia and Kosovo after French Open statement

The Kosova Tennis Federation has accused Novak Djokovic of contributing to the rising tensions between Serbia and Kosovo following his statements at the French Open on Monday.

After Djokovic’s straight-sets win against Aleksandar Kovacevic, the 22-time grand slam title winner used the customary act of signing the camera lens to write the message: “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia. Stop violence” in Serbian. Djokovic then reposted a photo of his message on his Instagram story.

The 36-year-old was addressing the recent violent clashes in Kosovo following the local elections in April. Later on Monday, he spoke at length about the issue in his Serbian press conference, stating: “This is the least I could have done. I feel the responsibility as a public figure – doesn’t matter in which field – to give support.

“I am not a politician and I don’t have the intention to get into political debate. That topic is very sensitive. As a Serb, everything that’s happening in Kosovo hurts me a lot.”

Despite his protestations, however, in a statement to the Guardian the Kosova Tennis Federation (KFA) referred to Djokovic’s comments as “deeply regrettable”. “Kosova” is the Albanian spelling of Kosovo, which is how the country is known internationally.

“Notwithstanding a general message against the violence, the statement ‘Kosovo is the heart of Serbia’ and the further post-match statements, made by such a public figure, in occasion of a worldwide event like the French Open, directly results in raising the level of tension between the two countries, Serbia and Kosova,” the federation wrote.

Mentioning this mostly just because I am so enamored by the perpetual cowardice of dudes like Djokovic.

/does explicitly political thing
//insists he's not getting into politics

Put ten toes down and stand on what you feel. This shit is just total spinelessness. Throwing the stone and hiding your hand.

Really? He made a statement calling for an end to violence. I think he said he isn't a politician because he doesn't have a specific solution, which is fair. While they aren't at all the same situation, I think Drogba largely said the same thing: Stop the violence, work it out peacefully, but without stating the way he'd resolve it.

Maybe the bit about "Kosovo is the heart of Serbia" is some kind of dog whistle that I just don't hear, halfway around the world.

That's pretty much it. Kosovars do not think "Kosovo is the heart of Serbia" because they think they are an independent nation. Serbs (to put it incredibly kindly), disagree.

Speaking to Serbian journalists, Djokovic, whose father was born in Kosovo, said: "This is the least I could have done. I feel the responsibility as a public figure - doesn't matter in which field - to give support.

"Especially as a son of a man born in Kosovo, I feel the need to give my support to our people and to the entirety of Serbia.

"My stance is clear: I am against wars, violence and any kind of conflict, as I've always stated publicly.

"I empathise with all people, but the situation with Kosovo is a precedent in international law.

"I am very sorry for the situation that we are in - Kosovo is our heart, our stronghold, the centre of historically most important events for our country, the biggest battle happened there, our most important monasteries and temples are there."

To me, this is trying to have it both ways. "I'm against violence, also I do not think that this nation which overwhelmingly declared its independence 15 years ago (and had previously fought a war for its independence against my nation) should exist."

Just take the Serb nationalist stance honestly.

I am here for the Shannon Sharpe/Skip Bayless TV divorce being as ugly as it can possibly get.
