Playstation 5 Catch-All

For me, the dual sense is perfect. Size, positioning, it's all exactly what I want. I don't even get the hand cramps or sweaty palms that were inevitable with any previous controller I've used.

I have no issue with the weight either, and my wrists feel fine even after a couple hours. Must be all the masturbating I do.

Same. Exactly the same…

What's the current thought on the best way to get one of these? [USA]

Playstation Direct actually had bundles in stock for like 12 hours the other day. Not that you can walk up into any store and buy one off the shelf, but it seems they are not selling out in the first 30 minutes now. So just watch one of the accounts on twitter, like Wario64, and they will post when stuff is in stock. Should be fairly easy until Thanksgiving shopping really takes off.

At the moment, it looks like they do have bundles in stock, if you're willing to buy Call of Duty with it.

Do they still have a mailing list signup? About once or twice a year I get an email from Sony letting me know that they are opening orders.

Wow, it's really easy now.

That really was. I'd prefer the digital edition and have no interest in CoD, but....

...should arrive by the end of the week. Look for a deal on CoD for PS5 in the trading thread sometime soon

Not any store yet, but there are stores that are starting to have them in-stock now, so keep an eye out.

I told my brother to download the Hotstock app a few weeks ago. Once he set it up, it took him less than two weeks to land one from Walmart.

Same but just ordered one for my son for Christmas. Can't believe these things are so hard to get two years after release.

That was quick....

Does anyone know how to claim the free PS Plus games in a web browser? I can log in and go to the store subscriptions page, and it even has a banner advertising November games, but there is no link, and there is no listing for those games.

I used to be able to do it, but something changed and now I can't figure it out

You can find them on the playstation.com page here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps...

It's not as conveniently listed out as in the old format, but it changed with the update to PS Plus.

If you use the mobile app (which I recommend), that same main banner on the "Subscriptions" tab in the store on the mobile app will take you to a page that has everything listed more conveniently.

Yeah I use the phone app now because the web site has been crap since shortly before PS5 launched

Beware when claiming Nioh 2 this month. Clicking the link took me to a page with a very prominent "add to cart" for $49.99, where normally it would be the usual "claim game" for free. I had to scroll way down to find the specific PS4/PS5-Remaster version, which is included with PS+.

YESSS thank you Dreaded Gazebo. Its so much easier to remember to do this at work than when I'm trying to get a quick gaming session in before bed. Having it accessible via webpage again is a nice QOL upgrade

Understand the sentiment, but that drive is nice to have even if the occasion is rare. Our internet was down for 2 full days this summer so I had to pull out the old Blurays to entertain us, and there have been a few times where I managed to score a physical PS5 game for cheaper than it's digital counterpart.

Also posted to the Trading Post thread:

I just got myself a PS5 (yay!). It was a CoD:MWII bundle. I've no interest in the game, so it's up for grabs.

$40 - Zelle only

On receipt I'll scratch of the code and PM you a picture.

Here’s an interesting one.

Anyone experiencing E-arc issues from another source when they put their PS5 into rest mode?

Setup:
-AppleTV and PS5 connected to samsung TV
-Soundbar connected to tv via Earc

If I use the ps5 and then put it into rest mode and fire up the apple tv. I get atmos sound drops constantly.

If I turn off the PS5 and start watching tv. No sound drops.

Been troubleshooting the sound problem for weeks before finally finding the culprit.

I've gotten some stick drift on my original controller. In triaging the problem, it seems I'll have to send it in. Anyone else have experiences with stick drift or their hardware repair?

Anyone have recent experience using the Amazon "purchase invitation" system?

I'm curious how long you might have waited for an invitation to pop up.

(As much as I appreciate Sony offering me the truly generous opportunity to buy only the more expensive version of their product direct from them at only a $70 markup for the inclusion of a game I would never in a million years have any interest in, Amazon still has Horizon bundles, and that's actually one of the two or three games I'm actually considering buying the console for.)

I know you specifically asked about Amazon, but I used Walmart's version and got one pretty quick last summer. That may be another option. It did cost me $12, but at the time it was hard to get a unit.

Hm, interesting, maybe I'll check back there occasionally then.

When I searched at Walmart this morning all I could find were marketplace (or whatever Walmart calls their version of the service) scalper product listings, and nothing direct from Walmart, but maybe directly managed stock entries will return as we get on towards the holidays.

I signed up with Amazon over two weeks ago (all models and bundles) and still haven't received an invite.

Got one from Playstation Direct on Monday.

Basically when official stock came in, I was able to queue up pretty easily to get one. But I did have to pay attention to when they were in. But at least no third party issues.

Can't say I have had any sound issues with PS5 in rest mode. I also have it connected directly to a Samsung tv as well as a Roku and a PC. eArc goes to my AVR which sends a couple less frequently used HDMI 2.0 devices back up the chain. The only issue I have is sometimes the Roku falls back to HDMI 1.4 for some reason and I have to reboot it.

Same here. Signed up for every Amazon invite (digital, disc, Horizon Zero Digital, Horizon Zero Disc) weeks ago and nothing. Got one from PS Direct yesterday. I'll take the PS5 in hand over a chance at an invite even if I have to pay for a game I don't really want (If it was the Horizon Zero Dawn bundle I'd GLADLY pay 560 for that. I'll probably just sell the game like you are doing. Just need to guage my son's interest since it's a present for him.

My strategy of a year ago seems wise. I just paid my local video game store a deposit and as they got machines in they gave them out to people in the order they paid. I had to wait two-three months but it was a lot easier than the time folks have had around here.

Yeah.

The Amazon product page actually now says that the next batch of invites should be today, so we'll see how that goes, and then maybe I'll consider the Call of Duty tax.

Honestly, in any previous console generation I would have just done something like that long ago, but these days I've got a PC that's capable of beating the current generation of consoles anyway, and console exclusives that I actually want to play are fewer and farther between -- especially now that Sony is starting to eventually release their exclusives on PC. So with this generation is basically been a back and forth of "do I really want to pay half a grand to not have to wait a year or two for this game." And on top of that, I have so little time to play games lately that I haven't even played the recently released PC version of Spiderman yet (and I'm not sure how I expect to make time for Horizon and God of War either).

So, really I'm just looking for a shortcut to playing those two at this point (and the PS5 upgrade to Ghost of Tsushima, I suppose), thus the extra $60 or $70 premium actually being much of a consideration.

For anyone else who is looking, unbundled disc units are available on Playstation Direct right this moment. (Just placed my order.)

Thank you for enabling me.

Is there a wall mount or something for these? I don’t like having consoles out in the open. My PS4 Pro is attached to the back of my TV with a vesa mount but I don’t think the PS5 will fit.
