Doki Doki Literature Club Plus is one of the free PS+ games this month.
I heard it was a VN with a twist, some 4th wall stuff. So I tried it without any further spoilers.
WTF have I got into? This game is f*cking wild.
Is there a thread somewhere? Search is kinda broken for GWJ but I'd like to talk more about this somewhere.
I don't know what threads they were in, but I believe there were some discussions around that game around here at a few different points. There were quite a few of us that were very into it.
I'm surprised you haven't been spoiled on it by now. Enjoy!
Well your history was easier to search than the whole site. Found it! Thanks

Ha!!! Enjoy that game.
My email notice of impending payment for my PS5 Pro came and I finally decided to cancel it. I may still pick one up at a later date. But right now I feel uncertain as to whether I’ll be spending enough time gaming to justify the cost. Plus I’ve got a number of games that I want to play that don’t seem like they’ll be getting a Pro patch.
Yeah, I upgraded to the PS4 Pro on release day because the benefits - including for PSVR games - seemed clear, and I didn't regret it. The benefits are a little more muddy this time around, especially for someone who doesn't play fast-paced games and doesn't need 60fps, and that price point is a bit of a speed bump, especially for someone who has a 2TB M.2 drive in their existing PS5 Amateur and would likely want the same amount of storage on the Pro. I'll wait for reviews to say that it's worthwhile, and if so I may wait a year or more to snag one on discount if I can.
I don't blame you. I've been struggling to find games I want to play on PS5 (vs PC or Steamdeck). If it wasn't in the main room and my wife liked me playing something while she reads, I would use it less.
The PSPlus backlog is working for the moment, but that wouldn't justify a Pro.
For what gaming I do, PS5 is still probably my main console, it just so happens that I’ve got some games to keep me busy for a bit that don’t seem like they’ll benefit from the Pro too much. It may happen that the natural boost of unpatched games is impressive enough to be worth it but I’m guessing it will mostly be games with specific patches or future releases that really see a benefit. We’ll see what next year brings.
I still keep checking randomly for the Anniversary Elite controller but no other stores have put up pre-orders and Sony Direct remains out of stock.
Guess it's still not out for 3 weeks but I really would like to secure one.

Me too. I’ll keep you posted if I have any luck.
I watched every video and read every article about the Pro and couldn't see any reason at all why I should spend the extra $325 over the base model. That's almost 2x the price or buying two consoles, which is bonkers - especially considering what a poor job PS did rolling it out and showing why it's a necessary upgrade.
Tried to buy the Duelsense 30th and/or the Edge 30th today at the restock. No luck.
There was a restock? I guess I missed it in a work meeting

Easily the biggest upgrade is FF7 Rebirth but other than that it's just nice visual upgrades that aren't night & day difference by any means.
I still think it's cool if devs can get quality modes at 30fps on base PS5 to 60fps on the Pro. I remember changing between performance & quality on Spiderman 2 & it's definitely a noticeable upgrade in resolution/visuals.
The PS5 Pro is a nice to have piece of hardware rather than a must have though. I still think we'll see some games over the next few years really take bigger advantage (hopefully GTA 6) than others who are just bumping resolution through PSSR.
My PS5 Pro arrived today!
Received mine too. Delivery guy asked if it was a new game console because he’d delivered three of them today. Looking forward to setting it up tonight. Something I’m excited about after a very rough week. Feels good to feel something other than despair. Probably worth the cost for that alone…

Yeah. Looking forward to playing around with it.
All set up for starters! Added the optical drive. I haven't added the spare 2 TB NVMe SSD or 5 TB USB archive drive yet. Haven't turned it on just yet. It's so much smaller than the original PS5! I like the size.
I also got the Pulse Elite headset to keep with this PS5 in the office and leave my regular Pulse for the living room. Holy cow, those are way more comfortable!!! They actually go over ear so I don't get pressure on my ears. Really happy about that.
Time to turn this thing on.
The dual wireless/bluetooth source on the pulse elite headset is a gamechanger. Being able to listen to podcasts off my phone in the background while playing games is awesome. So cool.

Well crap you may have just sold me on it.

Love the NK Jemisin books! And the console as well.
Mine should be here today, and I already received the disc drive. I didn't get an additional NVMe drive to put inside it, maybe I should. I have one in the current unit, but that one is going to remain in service.
Hm.
...I haven't added the spare 2 TB NVMe SSD...
One surprising thing Digital Foundry mentioned in their review: you can remove an NVMe drive that you put in your PS5 Amateur, place it in your PS5 Pro, and it will be recognized without any need to reformat or erase. A much faster way to transfer games than the Transfer utility.

lol @ "PS5 Amateur"
This is how I did my transfer for most of my games. I moved everything onto my old M.2, uninstalled, reinstalled on the new Pro, got a warning that Astro's Playroom was installed twice and needed to be deleted, and otherwise was seamless.
I still needed to do a user data transfer via LAN that took a little while (25 gb --> 30 min?), but overall an easy upgrade to do.
I'm also surprised at how smaller it is, especially depth.
Oh and I don't hate the little plastic feet nearly as much as I thought I would. I store mine horizontally and the old stand for horizontal placement is garbage.

I can confirm that this. I heard about it as well but was prepared to run into some Sony hiccups (which there were but not regarding this). I had removed my SSD and sold launch my launch PS5 earlier in the week. So yesterday when I got my Pro, I installed the SSD and the games were magically just there. I needed to re-download the games that were on my original console, but the 4TB of games on the SSD was just plug-and-play.
Got my PS5 Pro yesterday too, I actually like the size & black strips better in person. I redownloaded Spiderman 2, Horizon Forbidden West & Demons Souls.
Demons Souls is using the PSSR to bump the performance resolution to 4K running at 60fps (instead of 30fps on the base console) + adds some dynamic lighting to materials. It's hard to notice without a direct comparison though. It's such a stunning looking game regardless.
Spiderman 2 looks very sharp with the quality mode essentially running at 60fps now. I tried finding reflective windows on some apartment buildings & didn't notice that big of a difference between the performance & RT modes. I'm sure digital foundry will point the differences out in a clear manner in the coming days.
Horizon I've yet to try but it's to play the expansion Burning Shores which was already ridiculously good looking on the base console. I can't wait to see it on the Pro, especially since Guerilla are adding graphical effects as well as using their own upscaler to hit 4K.
I'm happy I've got the Pro for when I give FFVII Rebirth a try, to play the best version of GTA 6, Ghost Of Yōtei, Wolverine, Assassin's Creed Shadows & more of the big AAA games. I'll probably pick up Alan Wake 2 in one of the next sales too.
Here's my setup.
Nice! I did put my NVMe drive in last night painlessly. Ended up mostly just playing some Metaphor because... Well... That game is good.

Tried some Elden Ring in Quality Mode with ray tracing off, and it's now way more playable, and you don't have to use performance mode. This is kinda what the pro is pitched as, and exactly what I wanted out of it. Just let me use those old quality modes at 60 fps. I have a bunch of PS5 games to finish that I was annoyed to be forced into performance mode.
Now you just need a PSVR2 and to join me in Demeo!

There's a PSVR2 in the picture I posted!
