IGWJ's Day 2019 - Tabletop Simulator Version

Edit: Now with Links

So, you want to participate in IGWJ day but, do not live near any of the gatherings. Well, do I have a solution for you! I will be hosting a Tabletop Simulator Version of IGWJ. On October 19th you can join others from the forums and play games online.

Q: Do I need Tabletop Simulator?

A: Yes, that is the platform that I will be using to host the games.

Q: I'd like to but, what if I don't know how to play the game, I don't want to play against people way better than me?

A: Well, I have good news for you! I can teach you any of the games that I will be hosting. Most of the games that I intend to host that day will be co-op board games, the rest will be more accessible team games.

Q: Great! But, what are you going to play?

A: That's up to you! I have played a bunch of games on Tabletop Simulator.

  • Gloomhaven - You take on the role of an adventurer in the town of Gloomhaven (1 to 4 players)
  • Spirit Island - You take on the role of a Spirit, in order to protect you island from the invading colonists (1 to 4 players)
  • Arkham Horror: The Card game - You are an investigator exploring
  • Kingdom Death Monster - Think Dark Souls mixed with Monster Hunter (1 to 4 players)
  • Codenames - a Team based game where you try to deduce the names of the other team's spies. (2 to 10 players)
  • Other - If you are interested in other games, I will gladly try to learn them before hand if there is enough interest.

Q: Wow, that sounds like fun. how do i sign up?

A: With a limited number of spots per game, post in here it's first come first serve. I will take the max number of players, and I will generally just moderate the game.

Q: Are you just doing one game?

A: Nope, I will probably be hosting multiple games throughout the day. So if you are interested make sure to post with a time and which games you'd like to play. Once interest starts rolling in, a schedule will be posted with games and times. I will also PM each player with a time their time slot to confirm.

Q: Wait, I know some of those games. They are much longer then we can complete in one sitting.

A: Yes, some of them are more campaign based games (specifically Gloomhaven, Arkham Horror, and Kingdom Death Monster). If you like the games hopefully, this will spark some interest in playing them further with this group, or another.

Q: So I hear people are streaming, are you planning to stream some?

A: Yes, I would ideally like to stream Gloomhaven's starting scenarios from 5:00pm to 7:00pm EDT. If you would like to learn or start from there, please mention that.

If there are other questions you have, please ask and I will answer as soon as I can. Thank you.

Interested. Will look at calendar when I have a chance.

might want to link which TTS mod/implementation of each game will be used.

it would allow people to learn/prepare/practice ahead of time.. if only to get used to the controls and interface =)

Great idea. I'll add the links as soon as I can.

Bumping this thread for interest!

If I don't make it to EGX London meetup I'd potentially be around during the day. Any times planned for Spirit Island? I'd need to learn it first, perhaps we can have a pre-GWJD game?

Of course! There's no times set yet, except for the streaming time block. I'm up for teaching anyone, Spirit Island can be played for 1 to 4 players. I'll be around all day on IGWJ day. Weekdays are difficult for me to get consistent free time. But, we can find time.

OK cool, I'll send you a friend request on Steam and look forward to a TTS session soon

I will probably be around, but I don't want to reserve a spot in case I can't make it. If Chimalli hits the limit we can run another session. I personally own the Scythe offical mod, Zombicide and have a few other mods such as Pandemic, Settlers and Dominion that I have run sessions for before. I am going to check out the Alien Frontiers as it is one of my favorites too.

Thanks kazar. I am hoping to be around most of the day. I'd like to reiterate that no experience is needed.

FYI since there hasn't been any specific time mentioned I'll be starting around 3PM EDT, and will start with Spirit Island. I hope that works for you Neutrino, if not let me know.

I would be interested in any and all! In order of preference:
- Spirit Island
- Gloomhaven
- Arkham Horror

Thanks Chimalli, 3pm EDT is good for me. I plan to watch a playthrough to familiarise myself with Spirit Island in advance. There is a slight chance that something may come up in the meantime, but I'll let you know if I have to cancel. Hopefully not

I'd like to join in with some of this but I'm going to be busy for most of the day so I just wanted to say good luck to everyone taking part in the event. I hope it goes well and you guys all have a great time.

If you don't have time to play, you're more than welcome to come hang out in the discord, or in twitch stream that'll be going on all day.

Just confirming I plan to be back home in time for 3pm EDT for Spirit Island. Looking forward to my first playthrough.

I noticed that there is a current Indiegogo campaign for the digital version of the game, from the makers for One Deck Dungeon and Sentinels of the Multiverse. I thought they did a good job with those versions

Yeah, I was definitely going to mention that. Handleabra did a great job with Sentinels. It's a great game and they listen to their audience. Spirit Island also has one expansion released and another releasing shortly.

Neutrino and I will be starting Spirit Island in less than 30 mins, if anyone wants to join.

Had a wonderful time with Zozo, Mrs Zozo and Zozo the younger, Mix and My guys Ro and Doc. We explored a new game I got from Kickstarter called Parks http://keymastergames.com/parks. We all agreed it was fun once we got the rules figured out. Easy to play and once you understand how to play, it goes fast. Max is 5 players. Looking forward tot he next gathering! A few folks were missing due to rl interfering.
