Are you more interested after I put the 3060 back in? Cause that's what I'm doing after I haggle with Dell's customer service to avoid their restocking fee.

I'm currently borrowing a GPU-less PC from a friend that I have my GTX1080 in so I was thinking about your GPU-less Dell. I was trying to justify to myself the cost of yours (sans card) plus shipping it here plus adding more RAM when I don't really _need_ the machine.

As much as I want it, I can't spend those bones on a non-need right now.

Good news! My R10 got a BIOS update last night and my M.2 on a card is recognized! Performed a format and letter assignment in Drive Management and now I have another 1.8 TB. Yay!

Edit to fix units. Thanks Chairman_Mao for drawing a line under the emphasis that I'm old enough that 2 GB *still* seems like a lot of space to me.

Just to be clear, did you use a PCI-E adapter to add it to the system?

Yes. This adapter:

2 GB on any SSD is still pretty large, even more so if it's an nvme drive.

2GB? ...You're having us on mate...

Hey, i remember being impressed by my first HDD, it was 4 MB people, vast amounts of storage that i couldn't imagine using all of.

Merty Chrissmas!

Yeah 20mb for me. Then the next one, the last pre built I ever bought, the sales guy said 200mb is all you'll ever need. Hah.

Started building my own after that, 97 or so

Merty Christmas to all!

And to all a good noight!

My first was 10 MB and I paid $300 for a 300 MB not 3 years later!

So I've tried everything under the sun, but my GPU keeps flaking out and causing game crashes so I think I'm in the market for a new one. Since this is such a good time to be buying a GPU, has anyone kept up on the state of the art in trying to get one for MSRP? Are the Best Buy drops still something to look out for?

Yeah there were Best Buy and GameStop drops this week. Newegg shuffle still goes on almost every day.

The EVGA wait list works but it takes about 6 months.

BB drops is how I finally got one.

Three tips for BB:

1. Drops are Thursdays. Sometime after 10 am and pretty much random when it goes up.

2. Don't ONLY try and go for the reference cards from Nvidia, you'll absolutely lose out to the bots.

3. Don't have a bunch of windows/tabs open as your account will get flagged as a bot and get stuck in the Verify Account loop. I ended up using my phone on cell network and computer on wifi to double up. There's other tricks and tips with incognito windows and whatnot, but the phone & PC method worked for me because it was manageable.

Thanks for the tips, folks. Will let you know how it pans out.

The "Moonlight" of GPUs!

Well that freakin' hurts.

I've now had my 970 in my computer for close to 7 years now. Man, I wish that I had bought a card before the prices went nuts.

what is this "before" you speak of?

I gave my 970 away about a year ago. Crazy to think I could have sold it for actual money in this stupid market. But it's in a good home.

My PC is getting a but sluggish, but I'm not in the market for a complete overhaul yet. I should probably also do a clean install of Windows after a few years.

I might be looking into upgrading my CPU, currently a Ryzen 5 2600X. I'm still sporting a mobo with a X370 chipset, so the last generation is not possible. Would a Ryzen 7 3800x, a 40% performance increase according to CPU Benchmark be a noticeable difference in day-to-day use and/or gaming?

My full config at the moment:
- Asus PRIME X370-PRO
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3600Mhz
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060Ti
- HDD's:
- XPG Gammix S11 - 480GB
- Toshiba HDWD130
- Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB + 960EVO 1TB
- RAM D416GB 3000-15 Vengeance LPX 4x 8GB (32GB in total)

I'd think so, but it might not be huge.

A GTX 970 is my backup, and is what's driving the computer now until I can actually find something since my 2080 just died.

I have my GTX 970 as a backup, just in case too.
