IGWJ Day Los Angeles and Orange County Area Board Game Celebration 2019

WOOHOOO!!

I have secured a venue for the Los Angeles and Orange County Area IGWJ Day Board Game Celebration. The venue is 12 Sixty Modern Pub. The address is 14299 Firestone Blvd in the beautiful city of La Mirada 90638. We will have a section of the pub reserved for us with enough space for up to 10 people to play board games, and order food and drink. In case more than 10 choose to attend, I was assured that they are flexible and have more than enough room to accommodate us. I chose to block out 4 hours from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. Part of my reasoning for choosing this time slot is that the pub has low traffic during this time, and allows for more privacy for our party, as well as more flexibility in case more than 10 people want to participate. The location is roughly halfway between Los Angeles and Orange County and is conveniently close to the I5 freeway.

IGWJ Day is Saturday 10/19/2019. This party starts at 12:00 noon and goes to 4:00 pm. Bring your favorite board games or join in with the games that others have brought.

I agree with the vicinity, either works fine with me, it'll depend on what we end up doing. I am partial to board games, but escape rooms are fun too!

I also love tabletop games. If we can find a place in that halfway region that wouldn’t mind hosting us then I feel like this could all come together rather easily.

I'd be more in favor of a board game based meet-up than an escape room. Doing an escape room with a bunch of people I'm meeting for the first time would be very stressful for me, and with board games you can start small and work your way into the bigger ones.

There is Guild House in Bellflower, or a bit further west is Comic Bug/Game Hub in Manhattan Beach.

The Goodjer Days are hard to participate in. Can I send a printout of me to attend one, like my nieces did with sending "flat kids" to travel with family they can't see during vacations, and pictures were taken with said flat person?

Jesus, my tablet auto corrects "with" to "Sith."

I would be happy to put a Flat Max up at the table.

I found another place called Finch and Sparrow Games in Signal Hill, CA. That and Guild House seem like a pretty reasonable halfway point.

It might also be possible to do this at a pub or coffee house. If we start between noon and 2pm, basically whenever the establishment opens, then we will also be able to order food and beverages while we geek out.

Those places sound good. I could bring a variety of games depending on the what everyone is up for.

That's fantastic!! Thank you Rawk for taking point on this ^___^

No worries! I also wanted to mention, even though it should go without saying, that it’s not required that you live in L.A. or O.C. To come celebrate with us. If you’re within traveling distance, please come and join us. And even though it’s in a pub, under 21 folks are welcome. According to Yelp, the 12 sixty modern pub is a quality establishment. I’m looking forward to enjoying a couple of pints and some pub food. Oh and some games too.

Bump (sorry)

Looking forward to this. Any games/game types in particular people would be interested in having?

Well, I may or may not show up for a bit. I do work graveyard weekends, so I'll have to duck out early to get some sleep if I do drag myself out of bed to get there.

I will be punching out at about 3am on that day. Hopefully I’ll be asleep by 5am. Awake at 9 or 10. Get a little family time in before heading to the hangout.

Light fun games that can be picked up and put down easily. I’ll bring Kingdomino, Love Letter (Standard as well as Batman), and Monikers. Monikers is easy to learn and lots of fun but the games last about 45 minutes. We’ll have to see who’s in the mood for what.

Hey! We’re less than 48 hours away!

shoot, just found this thread. I'm a little south of there to make it an easy afternoon, but I'll have to see what I've got going on tomorrow. I'm not overly hopeful I can make it at this point but I'll keep a better eye out for next time
