I had an apartment... Then I didn't, Now I do!

So I found an apartment that was within my limits and everything, only to find it was $75 over (and I can't make up the effing difference)

I've been on craigslist,oneapp,zillow,apartments.com,reddit,hotpads, I've called every g'damned resource on 211 I got sent I just don't know what else I can do, other then wait for new listings to pop up. Meanwhile I'm burning thru like five hundred a week in airbnb costs.

I'm trying to get TPI to help me but it's like pulling teeth and central city concern's waitlist is closed...

It's too early to call it but boy does this feel like a total dead end.

I can say that if bad goes to worse I won't be going back to where I came from. No job, no apt no nothin.

Only thing I can think of right now is seeing if the churches may have an inside line. Maybe heading to the Portland Alano club to see what they could/can do for me.

Wish I could be more helpful but this is a ridiculously bad city to find housing. Even I have issues finding places and I know the area and have way fewer restrictions.
If you use facebook you could try checking the local marketplace section. I just glanced at it and there were a number of listings for apartments/adu’s/roommates etc.

So the lady with apartment #1 called back. It looks like I might still be in the running. I also went down and applied for a studio at lovejoy station. I was applicant # 1 so barring any hiccups I should get that as my fallback. Downsides are small amt of space and no parking. I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Also the second place doesen't open till september, so if I do have to fall back on that I'll have to find somewhere to land till it opens.

Let me know if you can’t find anything. I can’t promise anything, but I have a couple younger siblings around the city that may be open to a roommate until you can get yourself settled.

Landlord from apartment #1 called back. It's not going to work out. Despite saying that she was open to work the numbers, she isin't. I also applied for a third apartment, a one bedroom at Pacific tower apartments. So I'm the #1 applicant at both places. Heres to hoping I get one of those places.

And it looks like I was approved at Pacific Tower apts for a one bedroom. Barring a last minute catrostrophic turn of events, it looks like I found a spot.

Bad news being, the person who does the airbnb where I'm at has had me here for 3 weeks and does not want long term bookers IE: me. I have a move in date of between monday and friday of next week as multiple government agencies need to coordinate and work together to make this happen (I'm on sec eight) so I need to find a place to say between monday night and my move in.

I still have a little money so I'm thinking motel six might see my business again. I'm loathe to do air bnb again. Too much wierdness involved. I could prolly dedicate an entire thread to the bullsh*t I went thru with Airbnb and just may later when everything is said and done.

Pacific Towers is by the Lan Su Gardens, right? Not super familiar with that building but I remember seeing some listings a couple years ago when we were (briefly) looking at places on the west side. There’s a lot of good stuff in the area. I think the big food cart pod that got kicked off the lot downtown is supposed to be moving into the North Park Blocks by you as well.

The topic of this thread needs to be changed from:

I had an apartment... And then I didn't.

To

I had an apartment... And then I didn't... and then maybe I do!

Well, they were originally supposed to be moved to the Park Blocks, but I saw an article this morning saying that they might be moving to the Skidmore Fountain, so who knows. Still within walking distance, though, just a few minutes further away. Honestly in most of Portland you probably aren't more than a couple of minutes away from a food cart no matter where you are.
