I was thinking about this while I was breaking down cardboard boxes and vacuuming, and I think I figured it out: I want to be done! (Come to think of it, it wasn't so difficult an answer to find.) I said I was going to do 10 stories, but I have 7 and I can always save those three for some other time (maybe Volume 2), so why insist on doing all 10 when I am not contractually obligated?
This is what I'll do. I am going to letter The Foxhunt (I've decided not to color it, either, at least not for this first volume), which should only take a couple of days, and then I'll put all the stories together. I might do illustrations to serve as chapter breaks, but I might not. (I will do one for the cover, though.) Then, I'll take September off, and I'll be ready for Inktober. Sounds like a plan!
Sounds like some warranted burnout.
Also sounds like a solid plan
I think it is a combination of burnout and having started at a new school, which means I have to do a lot more work to prepare my classes than I would otherwise do. At least, it has been a very, very positive change for me, so I am glad I have to do all this work now. It will be easier next year when I already have everything in place!
Also, it's funny, because I started to letter The Foxhunt last night and I found myself thinking I really wanted to color it. However, I should not start doing so because I know I am not going to have time and it will become a source of stress. But maybe in the future I could do some special edition in color!
But yes --ending the anthology at seven is definitely the way to go. I already feel a lot less stressed knowing I don't have to find time to produce.
Here you have the finished version of The Foxhunt! Finished for now, that is. I vow to color it before the next chapter comes out!
Now, all that's left is the cover for the collection. Maybe this week?
Lamest update ever because it doesn't come with an image, but I have started coloring The Foxhunt, which I said I was not going to do. However, I can't help but feeling it would be a disservice to the story to leave it in black and white. So, I don't know how long it is going to take, but I am going to color all ten pages before I call the anthology done. So far this week I have almost finished one panel, hahaha.
Well, I surprised myself and finished the page!
She is giving it away... How does she know Spear is a she?
I would guess the Spear is a well-known wanted criminal, and she knows her dad's been working the case for a while now. I bet he talks about it over dinner.
[Opens the door to the thread with a drawn-out creak, looks around anxiously.]
Okay, so I drew something a couple of weeks ago, but wasn't satisfied... so I put it aside to edit later. Looking back on it today, I decided that realistically I wasn't going to be able to fix all the problems without effectively ending up redrawing the whole thing, so I'm just going to post as is. So here!

So are you going to publish the complete anthology together somewhere online rather than spread across the thread?

October is coming.
(Ahem.)
Yeah, I'd like to jump into something next month too. Could be Inktober, but I could also do Arttrober again, since I found myself enjoying drawing all the characters more than I expected.
So this is a thing for sculpting cloth on 3D models. At some point soon I will have some time play with this.
I am EXCITE!!!

Hmm... I've been wondering about making use of 3D models as a foundation for 2D art. Cloth sculpting is of particular interest (see previous post), since I still haven't got the hang of drawing it convincingly. How easy is Blender to learn to use, Fang?
Your drawing is what inspired me to post that video. I really need to start working on my TTRPG cover and characters. I think I've figured out what I am going to do so it is just setting time to do it.
Blender? Persistence is key. There are a lot of tutorials out there which is a blessing and a curse. You have a wealth of info, and you also have more to sift through.
Blender is only getting easier to learn but I wouldn't say its easy. You also need rigging and posing skills. Which are very technical and very down the rabbit hole.
I don't want to discourage. I just want to warn that people that know what they are doing make it look a lot easier than it is.
Just some tragic character backstory stuff for my current Sunday game PC.
Another fun sculpting cloth video:

The idea is to get some covers/illustrations done and put it all together as a pdf. Then, I'll see if I can put it somewhere where you can download it for free but also tip whatever you want, if that's what you'd like. Since I never planned on making a dime with the project, I don't care if no one tips a cent.
Which reminds me, I almost finished coloring the second page of The Foxhunt yesterday, but had to stop to cook dinner. Hopefully, I'll get it done today!

As for October, I have been watching and thoroughly enjoying Jim Rugg and Ed Piskor's YouTube channel "Cartoonist Kayfabe," and I just found out they are going to have a list of prompts as well. The list looks fun, and they said they'll retweet, re-whatever the entries, which is also fun, so I might do that.
I got this from one of their videos, in case you were wondering:
I am vaguely reminded of
Which would also be a good prompt set.
It would be! Now... what is it?
It would be! Now... what is it? :P
First, stop whatever you are doing right now and go watch Cabin in the Woods.
Second, it's basically every horror movie trope.
Ah, okay! I saw that in theaters on opening night, but haven't watched it again since, so I did not remember.
I haven't been able to make any progress coloring The Foxhunt... and Inktober is almost here! I am actually not sure I'll be able to see it through this year, given how little time I have, but I have to do it! (Or, at least, try.) I am envisioning quick, simple drawings, black and white, all done with pocketbrushes to both practice with the brushes and also keep the time commitment to a minimum. I'm also almost out of 9x12 sheets, so I might work on a smaller format, which would also help with the time commitment. Anyone else getting ready to draw for 31 days straight? (Besides Ravanon --I know he will do it! )
Page 9 done!
Let's see how long it takes me to color the next one...

Nice!
I've missed the past 2 Inktobers, pondering giving this one a go. I really enjoyed the two times I did it, thinking the stress relief would be helpful.
You should absolutely do it!
I think it's going to be kind of stressing for me, but I've done for the past seven years, so I can't break the streak! (I wonder how long I'll keep telling myself that)

Yes! The more the merrier!
Ready for tomorrow!
I managed to finish Page 8 before Inktober starts tomorrow!
This will most likely be the last page of The Foxhunt I can color until November.
Kayfabetober Day 1: Grendel done!
Mario in first as usual!
Arttrober Day 1—Yor Forger of Spy x Family:
I really should finish watching that show. It's a good thing we're starting this month on a weekend, because that took way too long for a daily picture.
