I think it looks great without the shading!
(Also, I've never played any Fire Emblem games because I've never owned a Nintendo system.)
Friday is quieter, so I can make headway. Today is Phantom Girl, a DC comics character:
Or characters. With multiple different incarnations / costumes. Anyway, her main superpower is apparently intangibility, hence why she's embedded in a wall.
Cool. I wonder if she can manipulate her intangibility or if it is just an on/off switch? Like is it a percentage of being tangible? Can she be 200% tangible? If she is not tangible, can she ever gain anything? ;P
I looked (briefly) at one fandom wiki or other, and apparently this incarnation got stuck in intangible mode for a while, then got back the ability to become tangible again, only to discover that every time she touched the ground it caused an explosion. Because comics.
No idea who she is, but I love the drawing. (Well, I guess I know who she is, because I read what you wrote, of course!)
Here's mine:
On his fifteenth trial, the Battle Shrimp brokered Peace with the Frog Pharaoh:
Noooooo! Battle Shrimp is anti-Semitic?
Hahaha. I don't think so.
On his sixteenth trial, the Battle Shrimp climbed the Cliff of Cliades:
A simple one today because I want to watch The Matrix. It's been about ten years since the last time!
Another prompt for a manga/anime I have vaguely heard of at one point or other but not read/seen...
Simca from "Air Gear":
Halfway done!
Bonus posting!
Okay, so I had the opportunity this weekend to finish my drawing of Celica, which I'd posted unshaded on the previous page.
I think that's a bit better.
Very cool x2!
I do know Simca because I've read some Air Gear in the past. Only three volumes, I think --enough to know I loved the art but the story was not for me.
Next prompt: Lady Maria from "Bloodborne".
Guess what?! I haven't played Bloodborne either!
I have played Bloodborne many times, and have quit it in rage and frustration as many times. Never made it too far into the game because... it's too difficult for me. Oh, well...
As for my drawing...
On his seventeenth trial, the Battle Shrimp crossed the Undead Sea of Salia:
My fall break ends today, so the next couple of weeks are going to be challenging in terms of getting these done. I hope I don't have to resort to just black and white drawings, but I make no promises...
Jean Grey from "X-Men":
Since I've generally been basing my 'comic' drawings on their film equivalents, I decided to base this one on Famke Janssen's Jean Grey. And I've actually seen those first three films! Years ago. They were alright. Two of them, anyway.
Very nice, Ravanon. The X-Men have always been my favorite part of the Marvel universe, and I've seen all the X-Men movies except for Apocalypse and The New Mutants. As for the trilogy with Famke Janssen as Jean, I agree: two of those three films were very enjoyable.
Anyway, here's today's adventure of the Battle Shrimp:
On his eighteenth trial, the Battle Shrimp crushed the Crustacean Contingent:
Couple of questions for the artists on this thread. When it comes to digitizing pen and ink drawings, what scanner (or other equipment) would you recommend? Also, for those that digitally color your work, do you have any videos or other repositories of information that can help those of us who are noobs at non-traditional coloring? I tend to stay black and white with my pen and ink drawings, but am no stranger to painting on canvas.
Thanks in advance!
I have an MFC-J6510DW Brother scanner with an 11x17 bed that is at least 6 or 7 years old by now that I absolutely love and that I use to scan my ink drawings. I've never had a problem with it, and I would 100% recommend it. That said, most of the coloring I do is either done with markers or watercolors, and neither one scans particularly well and so they require editing on the computer. Since I am not very good at that, for drawings such as the Battle Shrimp series I simply take pictures of them with my phone, and then crop them on Sketchbook Pro. Lame, I know, but it is sooooo much faster!
I'm currently all digital, so I can't help with scanners and such. As far as digital colouring is concerned, I more or less just worked it out as I went along, taking advantage of blend modes to get the most out of as few colours as possible (see my post at the top of the last page). As far as colouring in pen and ink drawings, all I can really say is that colouring on a layer 'above' the scanned in image, with the right translucent blend mode, should allow you to colour in non-destructively, and preserve existing shading work—a bit like using watercolours over ink.
Next prompt, we're back to characters I know nothing about, as has become the tradition.
Today, Rikka Takarada from "SSSS.GRIDMAN" (apparently...):
I think this might be the first case where I haven't even heard of the work in question. Of course maybe everyone else knows, and its actually some really famous/seminal work.
Same here: never heard of SSSS. GRIDMAN... in all caps for some reason?
Anyway, on his nineteenth trial, the Battle Shrimp found the sunken treasure of Treithes:
Great info, I appreciate it!
Today we have Triss Merigold, from the Witcher games (and books, and other media):
Well okay, obviously I know this one, and have played all three Witcher games (still working on finishing the Blood and Wine DLC for the third game though).
I chose Yennifer.
Awesome job!
I've only played The Witcher III (all DLC included), and I thought it was fantastic. I also stayed with Yennefer, but I think Geralt and Triss kissed once at some point. And Geralt did way more than just kiss that witch he comes across and goes with on many missions --I don't remember her name, though.
Have you seen the Netflix show? I liked it well enough, but I wasn't too crazy about it. The second season arrives in December, if I remember correctly.
Anyway, here's my drawing:
On his twentieth trial, the Battle Shrimp deciphered the Prophecy of Parapsydos:
Is that the finger?
Which one is the middle finger when you only have four? A question truly worth pondering!
Only four or is the thumb hiding?
I have been too busy to contribute much of late but the last few pages have been as amazing as usual!
I *DID* however manage to take some time to draw my character in a new Eberron campaign i'm a part of on sundays - Glory Gigglemint, Fairy Path of Wild Magic Barbarian...
...and her faithful clockwork Healerbee.
Always nice to see your work, pyxistyx!
As for this:
Only four or is the thumb hiding?
It's three fingers and a thumb, so four digits total.

You mean Keira Metz?

I haven't—I don't have Netflix, or Disney+ or Amazon Prime or anything like that, so a lot of recent shows just come and go unseen. I've read the books though.

Nice. If you're playing a Fairy, does that mean you've had a look at The Wild Beyond the Witchlight sourcebook? Nobody in my circle of friends has gotten it yet—any good?
Right. Got this one done early, so I don't end up working on it right up until midnight again like this time last week.
Another familiar one, today it's Harley Quinn:
Went for the traditional look with this one. Not just because it was quicker! But mainly because it was quicker.
