Weekly Drawing Prompt Thread

Right?

Here's my (single) "animal businessman":

IMAGE(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vvxw1HQjw3Q/YQb318hizDI/AAAAAAAACDA/Ql0lFClgPlgvRCj7rQydBq3I8H3OfRRjACLcBGAsYHQ/s0/30%2BAnimal%2BBusinessman.png)

It's been a while since I've seen a businessperson in their native environment, but I'm pretty sure I recall them all wearing ominous red robes.

Hahaha. He does mean business alright!

Also, the upcoming "tears of joy" is the last one on the list, so it's time to find something else. This January has really lasted a long time!

This bot creates randomized alternate descriptions of Blaseball players.

Paul Barnes is an agender hallucination. His voice rumbles like thunder, and his fans go wild over his substantial form.
Rat Mason has a cascading mien and attracts the attention of birds. Her seeming is intoxicating and her body was broken off the first tree.

Etc.

I think those prompts are a little too esoteric for me. The fantasy prompt bot you posted earlier might be more workable. Not sure yet what I want to commit to for 'February'.

I agree with Ravanon's take.

And now, the final 'SculptJanuary' prompt, inexplicably posted before Mario's...

'Tears of Joy':

Maybe a bit too subdued for 'joy' though. It seems like through these drawing prompts I am veerrrryyy ssloowwlyy learning how to imprint emotion into my sketches, but I've still a ways to go—of course Mario's always been consistently good at that, in my opinion.

That looks great, Ravanon!

I drew mine earlier today, but I think I want to color it, so I might not have it ready until tomorrow or Sunday.

Also, thank you for your kind words! I hope you're ready for all the emotion my "tears of joy" is going to pack!

Well, I found myself with some extra time this afternoon, so I went ahead and colored my "tears of joy."

So what are we going to do next week? Inquiring minds (or people who like to plan ahead) want to know!

Did we say this week's prompt was "superpowers"? Or did I just sketch something and thought I'd post it here?

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/bo2bZ08.jpg)

I don't see it ;P

"Superpowers"? No, I'm sure it was something like "woman in among the heather" or somesuch...

Seriously though, I'm not sure what I want to do next. We've had over a year and a half of weekly drawings... maybe a break is in order? Since I want to keep drawing but am prone to stopping when not given a framework to work within, I've been trying to find or cook up a project I can embark on that'll give me reason to draw the things I like drawing, and also challenge me a bit.

You know? I think the prompt might have been "woman in among the heather," now that I think about it...

(Very cool, by the way.)

We can definitely take a break, but I'm also game if you'd like to propose something like "a list of things you like drawing" if that will help keep you motivated. I also have a dozen ideas for ongoing stories/comics I'd like to get started, but I never seem to have time to get those done. I'm just thinking out loud here, but what about something like this? We could work on our own projects and commit to post a weekly image/panel/page/whatever here to kind of "force" us to produce while putting that effort into something "meaningful" like "Ravanon's Woman in the Heather: an Illustrated Fantasy Romance," for example.

And while I have your attention, here's some silliness from this week:

A fantasy or sci-fi monster/villain starting with each letter of the alphabet in order. That's half a year right there. Go!

Heh. For all the random ideas I've had (webcomic, illustrations for my next D&D campaign, etc.) "Ravanon's Woman in the Heather: an Illustrated Fantasy Romance" was certainly not something that'd occurred to me!

It's not a bad idea (posting a weekly something from our respective projects, I mean), though I could probably still do with a couple of weeks off before committing to anything right now.

Of course, this is all just me. If anyone else on the forum wants to post some drawings, for example prompted by Mixolyde's suggestion above, then by all means go right ahead. I still think this thread could do with wider community participation (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, *glare*).

You're welcome.

Excellent. I hereby decree a cease-all-commitments mandate until the first week in September (the one that starts on Monday the 6th).

Yes to both! Actually, Mixolyde's suggestion would make for a fun Inktober, which will be here before we know it. But let's not even go there yet.

Here's a "little" something I was commissioned to draw. It is 18 x 24 inches, numbers I thought I understood... until the sketchbook arrived in a massive box. "Why the huge box?" I asked myself. Then I opened it and realized the sketchbook was equally massive!

And a blink of an eye later, it's September...

Hmm. I've got a couple of projects on the go right now (one writing, and one running another D&D campaign on Roll20) which could be supplemented by artwork, though in neither case is drawing my main priority. Nevertheless, I'm still drawing when the mood takes me. I should try harder to harmonise my efforts, I guess.

Very nice!

I confess I haven't been doing anything. I have a bunch of new art supplies I want to play with, so that might be my "project" for the next few weeks, we'll see...

Actually, I drew a quick sketch of my dogs while I was listening to some online training the other day...

Looks nice. The only thing I think could be an issue is that these are iconic characters and most are heavily stylized. So if you want to go for uniqueness, your best bet is to find a picture you like and draw over them to customize them.

The other thing is that these characters have histories or backgrounds we may not be familiar with in order to do them justice. You can get a lot from a picture, but its not their whole picture. Especially if we are trying to do one a day.

Should be fun still

side note: these are also almost all female. Though I guess that is one way of being creative by gender swapping...

Interesting! I only know about a third of these characters, so I had no idea!

Heh, I knew even less = why I looked them up. There were ones with names I thought were a car or robot that sure enough, were females... (simca air gear, celica fire emblem)

I know, I know, the later should have dawned on me sooner. But at first glance, I blame COVID brain!

The only reason I didn't think Simca was a car is because I've read some Air Gear, haha.

Lol. Still there is some good stuff in there aside from the handful of tropish anime school girls.

I don't know a lot of them either, but I guess it's easy enough to google them. Could be fun. Could even combine them with another list (e.g. character X doing thing Y).

On the general principle that this is the weekly drawing prompt thread, and I've drawn another thing in the last ten days, I give you the aforementioned thing:

One of my favorites so far, Ravanon!

Also, I like the idea of combining that list with another one that has the characters doing something. That could be lots of fun!

As for my weekly drawing... I have not done anything! But I just learned today is Batman day, so I might try to draw him today or tomorrow...

But I do have some doodles from last week...
