Dead Pixels E4 TV Series

Anybody watch this?

The screen writer has talked a good game about how “both how pointless and how profound gaming can be.” https://www.denofgeek.com/uk/tv/dead...

After watching the series I think it was a fairly unrelenting attack on how entirely negative gaming is for your life. I believe it can be but this is quite a demolition job.

My wife watched some with me but refused to watch more than about twenty minutes because she thought it was depressing watching people waste too much of their time playing games with someone who wastes too much of their time playing games. A bit unfair on me, I thought. I have to say this series didn't help my case. I'm glad she didn't watch any more.

The other thing she noted was the main character, an attractive young woman gamer, spoke in a coarse sexual way that was unrealistic. I'm sure such people do exist but I did suspect this was done more as a sop to young gaming males than for character reasons. It wasn't funny.

My interest in finally seeing something about gaming on mainstream TV has been turned into something quite sour. If you want to point and sneer at gamers this is a great place to start.

The article you linked noted that that character, Meg, was written as a guy originally, and changed to a woman to keep the show from being "too male-centered". So the opposite of a sop to young male gamers.

Ironically, my IRL most foul-mouthed friend is a woman named Meg. I have another friend who maintains a list of "Meganisms" - her most epic swears.
