Can't Miss Games of 2023

My FOMO can only take so much D:

I’m postponing many of this years best games for a few months. Here’s hoping they don’t bring out anymore great games next year or I’ll be back where I started.

Indie World Showcase 11.14.2023 - Nintendo Switch

Nice!

It gives a rather effectively creepy feel of being trapped in a surreal, introspective world with a sense of reality as reliable and permanent as a career in corporate tech journalism [...]

It's 1h long but I enjoyed learning some of the behind the scenes details. I remember when the preview levels leaked and how much hype there was before HL1 launched. It was a big deal.

Oooh looks good.

Jeff Grubb and Jordan Middler talk about The Last of Us Part 2 Remaster (amongst other things.)

The last of us 2 came out in 2020 and is still somewhat fresh in my memory. That is nuts that they are already making a "Remaster"!

I’m someone who benefited from being able to play the upgraded version of the first game, which came out on PS4 one year after the original was released on PS3. It’s worth remembering that many of the potential customers for the remaster aren’t the existing player base (who, like me, will probably upgrade for £10 or whatever) but new players who just bought a PS5 or have been turned onto the games by the TV series.

At first glance a remaster now can seem crazy but I feel like it makes commercial sense.

Looks great but I expect it will be hard as nails so I will be content watching a YouTuber playing.

I’d watch an abridged version

Yeeeah, 2 hours is a big ask for a channel I don’t know.

I was kinda presuming everyone knew MinnMax. Worth giving them a go. Honestly it’s a fantastic podcast. Here’s a more bit sized video.

Edit: Flintlock delayed to summer next year. It continues to look extremely promising.

Speaking of promising

Why does everyone have to make a Soulslike? Why can't someone make a nice RTS...

(Actually I can't complain about that too much. There are some great RTS games out now and coming soon.)

I said it in the RTS thread but Aliens: Dark Descent is awesome. Also Age of Empires 4 and Company of Heroes 3 just released campaign DLC.

So You Want To Play WH40k: Rogue Trader... (New Player's Guide)
1+ hours but if you wan to understand the game it seems great.

From Moon Studios (The Ori games crew) so obviously going to be beautiful in visuals and audio. The story is probably going to be bittersweet too...

I’m not sure if I fully understood what I saw in the No Rest for the Wicked trailer but I like the overall style and the look of the soulsy combat.

These appeal as well.

I’m getting Mass Effect vibes:

This trailer made me want to watch the original Jurassic Park again and to play this game as soon as humanly possible. Love that it’s set shortly after that first film ended and all the dinos look and sound the same.

This trailer has an entirely different feel from the previous trailers. I was into it.

Rise of the Ronin looks like it might have co-op but they don’t say it does. Co-op would be phenomenal in this game by the looks of it.

This does have co-op and looks stunning.
