Great episode as always and strangely enough this time I got intrigued by the non gaming stuff.
I'd really like to know what that guitar device is?

You folks know me so well.

(For the record, I’m waiting for the Rage 2 sale, because I almost never buy digital games for $60 these days)

I wonder how long it's going to take for *Legion* to soak in all the attention.

@Amanda, the channel you're thinking of is called Girlfriend Reviews. They've only been at it for a few months, but every single one of their videos has been incredibly good. I am always excited when a new Girlfriend Review pops into my YouTube feed.

Here's one of their early reviews on Spiderman:

Great episode. I'm definitely going to give some time to Snakeybus!

Also I found the question from Kevin really interesting (I'm a bit biased there, admittedly). The idea of a game being used to 'numb' oneself is very relatable, though fortunately I haven't experienced this to any harmful degree. The answers from the podcast crew was quite enlightening though- situations where games contribute to/detract from mental wellbeing appears to really vary across the panel. I wouldn't have necessarily expected this, but it was fascinating to hear the different ways the subject was interpreted.

Have to say Mordhau is a lot of fun. It's a very close relative to Chivalry.

It was nice to see that 15 folks on my friends list now compared to the 1 other who had it at launch

Great show as usual Long time listener, but never commented. I had to this time as Amanda AI wishful game already exist. It’s available on iOS - Ghostbusters World. A Pokemon Go clone. It didn’t set the world on fire though. Still a fun game.

The mental health question was great and would make a fantastic show by itself. Gaming addiction is rampant and likely not talked nearly enough about on the forums imho.

... please help me!

He'll milk any iota of attention for eternity.

Don't ever give him an inch.

They aren't really games, but I'd love to see an AR experience tied into history of a location you are visiting. Go to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, get a pair of AR goggles, and be able to sit in the stands and watch a simulation of the most recent event, or your favorite race from x years ago.

Walk into Madison Square Garden on a random Tuesday because you're visiting New York City, see a recreation of an event there.

Obviously useful for things like Civil War battlefields etc

There is a feature of Zombies, Run! that was not mentioned that I find a nice little touch. Once you complete certain episodes of the story, you will receive a real-world email at the address associated with your ZR account. The message will be from one of the characters in the story, referencing the event that just happened during your exercise session.

The first time it happened to me I got an email with the subject line "Welcome Home & Thanks for Not Being Dead." I was curious what the heck that was all about and once I understood what it was, I nearly flipped out. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's a nice little AR touch to the game.

This is the eventual future imho.

Druidstone sounds like it is pretty cool, as I think it is avoiding some of the pitfalls that make me tire of other games before I finish them. I like Divinity Original Sin 2, but too much inventory tedium. I like Bards Tale IV, but there is a lot of story / dialog and I don't think either is well done. I do like Bards Tale IV combat and the puzzles though. BT IV also has too much inventory tedium.

Druidstone seems like it offers interesting combat, not a lot of inventory tedium , doesn't get bogged down in tacked on crafting, doesn't force a bad story /. voice acting on the player. Sounds pretty good.

My AR game idea takes the light world/dark world mechanic of Link To The Past and turns it into AR.

Light world is the real world, then you whistle a particular tune and BAM, now you're in the dark world, with AR imagery overlaying the real-world space to turn it into a twisted dark-world version of itself.

Similarly, a live action They Live. Put your AR goggles on and now you can see the "real" world.

I have always thought you can tell when someone was introduced to computers and games by if they call it Snake or Nibbles. For me it will always be Nibbles and I still remember 'hacking' that game as a young teenager at school by editing the BASIC code to give more lives or make the snake grow longer with each bite.

For me it will always be SNAFU.

Because I am old.

I just grabbed, downloaded, and played 'What Remains of Edith Finch' tonight. Pretty friggen amazing that - what a ride!

20190523 - "Be one with the trash." Is a great phrase. I have to decompress and stop achieving things and somehow someway get my brain to stop shouting "IT'S ALMOST TOMORROW!" at myself. Just putting our phones downs and being fully involved with the junk TV that doesn't demand much of us is probably healthy, in moderation like all things. Also, hoodie is a great way to signal that it's time to chill.
