2019 MLB Season Catch-All

Pages

I saw a quote from someone that they rather pitch to Trout on steroids than any other hitter that gets to know the pitch before it’s thrown.

The harsh penalties is not pearl-clutching as much trying to ensure it is not worth trying to cheat. Sports are not worth watching if the real action is behind the scenes, with the team with the best covert ops wins.

When Mark McGwire finally went down for steroids, I used it as a teaching moment. My daughter was in preschool, but, was aware of all the bashing of McGwire and it confused her.

I told her that Big Mac cheated to hit home runs, and then talked about how the cheating made everyone love him, but it was for such a short time compared to having people feel disappointed in him for the rest of his life.

Cheating will only kill off sports if we embrace cheating. If we are honest with kids and demand consequences, then this is just a moment of human failure, which affects us in all walks of life. If we decide to ignore cheating, kids grow up looking at professional sports as nothing more than wrestling.

That is probably the best Jayhawker post I've ever read. Well said.

I’ve come around that they should be stripped. Awarding them to the Dodgers is ridiculous.

And what about the other participants of the AL playoffs that lost to the Astros and Red Sox? Who's to say they wouldn't have won the World Series?

It just ridiculous that a city council took taxpayer money to do something as pointless as this.

Then just take it away from those teams and it becomes a no winner season.

So... the Betts trade. When do the Red Sox have their "under the luxury tax" parade?

The cynic in me thinks the Red Sox know he was getting his numbers via the buzzer under the jersey and cut bait with him because his production is going to tank now.

Mookie? I doubt it. Even if you generously reduce his numbers he's still a top-10 player instead of a top-3 player. They want to save money after missing the playoffs. Copy the Dodgers model which is an evolution of the Tampa Bay model. Makes a massive amount of money, continuous success, and long-term big dollar contracts are almost always without high variance.

And this f*cker won't be going to road games. He's sending his guys out to get abused by opposing fans and the media all season.

Also, that edit hides that it was just 55 seconds between those comments.

I've revised my opinion and want the entire organization purged and demoted. Every regular position player should be banned from the MLB, Jim Crane forced to be a minority owner to the Wilpons, everyone in management permanently banned, and their championship title stripped.

Yeah that was 100% a complete joke. The whole thing is a joke and nothing short of a complete purge will make this go away. I’m actually hoping more players try and sue in civil court.

It's gonna be a long season for Houston.

that was a Top-10 example of "trying to make it better, and making it exponentially worse".

"This didn't impact the game" is like a multi-dimensional falsehood.

"Look, it didn't have any effect on the game. It was a thing that several staff members spent weeks and months devising and refining, spent time and money positioning cameras and mounting monitors and replacing them when they were broken and directed staff to work on pointing cameras at the signs and then deciphering them and relaying them to players, all of which we continued to do over multiple years, which we then desperately sought to cover up when people started catching on, and the reason we did all of that because it was like a hilarious ironic joke about how much trouble we were going to for something that didn't help us in the slightest, lol."

That's the lamest reply I've seen in a long time.

What, mrlogical's post? Even I thought it was pretty funny!

I assume Garion was talking about the lying cheater.

Me, too.

Ouch

In response to an outcry from "disgusted" parents, two Little Leagues in Southern California have banned any teams from being the Astros for this upcoming season, according to a report from the Orange County Register. The decisions were made in response to the Astros employing technology, and trash cans, to cheat their way to success and a World Series victory.

"Parents are disgusted," Long Beach Little League president Steve Klaus told the OCR. "They are disgusted with the Astros and their lack of ownership and accountability. We know there's more to this scandal. What's coming tomorrow? With the Astros, you've got premeditated cheating."

Still think this isn't impacting The Game (TM), Mr. Crane?

I want to know when Bellinger will be calling out Betts for his part in the Red Sox cheating in 2018. It’s very easy to bash non teammates.

That'll come* after that report is finished and made public.

*no it won't

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred defends punishment of Astros

"Yeah, I understand. I understand people's desire to have the players pay a price for what went on here," Manfred said. "I think if you watch the players, watch their faces when they have to deal with this issue publicly, they have paid a price. To think they're skipping down the road into spring training, happy, that's just a mischaracterization of where we are. Having said that, the desire to have actual discipline imposed on them, I understand it and in a perfect world it would have happened. We ended up where we ended up in pursuit of really, I think, the most important goal of getting the facts and getting them out there for people to know it."

Houston manager Dusty Baker asks MLB to protect Astros from 'premeditated' beanballs

Someone's going to do it, I suspect.

So the Astros are basically Eddie Haskell.

The real victims are the Houston Astro's players!!
